Mumbai, June 13 - It has been 27 years since Sunny Deol headlined epic war drama Border released on the big screens. Hailed as one of the greatest war movies of all time, it was set during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971 and is based on the events of the Battle of Longewala (1971). ## Border was a massive success at the box office and emerged as the second highest-grossing Indian movie of 1997 with a worldwide gross collection of approximately 55.50 crores, including approximately 53.10 crores gross at the Indian box office (collection without adjusting with inflation). Mumbai, June 13 - Filmmaker J. P. Dutta has joined hands with producer Bhushan Kumar of T-Series to announce the sequel to War epic Border. The movie was announced on the 27th anniversary of the first movie which is one of the biggest Indian blockbusters ever. ## Sunny Deol, who scored a mega-blockbuster with Gadar 2 last year, will be returning to reprise his role as Maj. Kuldip Singh Chandpuri in Border 2 which will be directed by Anurag Singh and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta under the banners of T-Series and JP Films. ## The blockbuster sequel has been in the news since last and the makers finally made it official. Mumbai, October 31 - Sunny Deol is the talk of the town after delivering once-in-a-lifetime blockbuster success in the form of Gadar 2: The Katha Continues. Directed by Anil Sharma, the film busted industry projections to emerge as one of the biggest blockbusters in Indian cinema. ## After "Gadar 2", Sunny's popularity reaches new heights and he is being blessed with multiple big offers. As known to everyone, the "Ghayal" actor is already doing a mass entertainer Baap which is currently in the post-production work for a 2024 release. ## Sunny is shooting for a social drama film currently, which is expected to be released in the first half of 2024. Sunny, who just yesterday announced his reunion with Rajkumar Santoshi for a period action drama film Lahore 1947, has been in talks for the sequel to Border and there is finally good news regarding the same.## According to a report by Pinkvilla, actor Ayushmann Khurana is in the advanced talks to join Sunny Deol in this epic war drama sequel. The actor will play the parallel lead alongside Sunny in Border 2, to be directed by JP Dutta who will also produce it with Bhushan Kumar of T-Series.## The makers have planned to make Border 2 on a grand scale and have a vision to make it the biggest war drama film in Indian cinema. The movie is currently in the scripting stage and will start shooting in mid-next year. The makers are in talks with several actors and details regarding them will come in due course.## Meanwhile, Sunny Deol's Lahore 1947, which will be produced by Aamir Khan, will start rolling out around December this year. This Anil Sharma's directorial movie, which is the sequel to all-time blockbuster "Gadar: Ek Prem Katha", has crossed 600 crores at the global box office and still going strong. ## After the historic success of "Gadar 2", it was recently reported that Sunny Deol and director JP Dutta have been discussing the sequel to "Border" which is one of the biggest blockbusters of all-time in Indian cinema. It was reported that "Border" will revolve around Indo-Pak war in 1971 and would go on floors next year.## Now, Sunny Deol share a big update on the sequel and confirmed that the talks are indeed on. During the recent interview with YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, the actor said that "Border 2" was being made earlier but was shelved when his films flopped. "We wanted to do this even earlier. I remember in 2015... But then my film didn't work. So people were scared to make it. It has turned into one of the biggest blockbusters of all time.## Now, Sunny Deol is gearing up to bring the sequel to his other classic blockbuster, "Border" (1997). According to Pinkvilla, the actor is reuniting with filmmaker JP Dutta for India's biggest war film "Border 2". The makers are in advanced talks with a top studio for the same.## It is said that the makers have been planning to make "Border 2" for the last 2-3 years and things have finally fallen into place as the team is set to make the official announcement soon.
