Suriya's 'Jai Bhim' Becomes The World's Highest-Rated Movie On IMDb

Chennai, November 12 - Tamil superstar, Suriya is following his own footsteps as far as his movies are concerned. Last year, he created waves with Sudha Kongara-directed "Soorarai Pottru", which was partly inspired by events from the life of Simplifly Deccan founder G. R. Gopinath. The film won accolades and became one of the top-rated films in the world.



The Singham actor is once again winning praises, this time for his recently released another hard-hitting film "Jai Bhim", in which, he again played a character inspired by the real-life personality. Interestingly, both "Soorarai Pottru" and "Jai Bhim" were released on Amazon Prime Video.



Based on a true incident in 1993, which involves a case fought by Justice K. Chandru, "Jai Bhim" follows Senggeni and Rajakannu, a couple from the Irular tribe. Rajakannu was arrested by the police and was later missing from the police station. Senggeni seeks the help of an advocate Chandru to seek justice for her husband. Chandru files a habeas corpus case and he refers Rajan case to continue further to find the truth.



While "Soorarai Pottru" was among the top-rated films on IMDb, "Jai Bhim" takes a step further and becomes the top-rated film in the world, beating the Oscar-winning film "The Godfather" (1972), and the cult prison drama "The Shawshank Redemption" (1994). "Jai Bhim", with an IMDb rating of 9.6, is now the highest-rated film across the globe.
