Tamil Films Dominate Google & Twitter Trends Of 2021 In India

Chennai, December 9 - Thalapathy Vijay's Tamil blockbuster "Master" has topped the list of most tweeted films of 2021 in India. The first Indian blockbuster of the pandemic era has taken the first spot over films like "Valimai" (Pongal 2022 release), Vijay's own "Beast" (summer 2022 release), "Jai Bhim", and "Vakeel Saab".

Vijay's tweet unveiling the first look poster of "Beast" is also the most retweeted tweet in Indian entertainment in 2021. The star is now getting ready for the worldwide release of Beast which will take place in the summer of 2022.

Earlier, Suriya's "Jai Bhim" topped Google's most searched films of 2021 in India. The movie, which focuses on the real-life struggles of marginalized groups and the issue of institutionalized discrimination, remained one of the hottest topics due to the controversy where it was alleged of showing a community in a bad light.

Interestingly, as opposed to Twitter trends which were dominated by the South Indian movie, the Google search showed Bollywood movies making the headlines. In the top 10 most searched films in India, five Bollywood films were searched the most, in which, Sidharth Malhotra-starrer "Shershaah" was ahead of others in getting the spotlight.
