'The Batman 2' Release Date Postponed
Los Angeles, December 28 - Warner Bros. Pictures has pushed back director Matt Reeves' The Batman 2 by a year and it will now arrive in 2027. The film is the follow-up to Reeves' The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson in the titular role.



The superhero sequel was originally supposed to be released on October 2, 2026, but will now shift a year and debut on October 1, 2027, in Imax, Warner Bros. announced on Friday. The production of the film is expected to start next year.



Reeves' The Batman was released in March 2022 and grossed over $772 million at the worldwide box office, including $369 million domestically. It was one of the highest-grossing films of 2022 and the biggest superhero grosser for Warner Bros. post the Covid-19 pandemic.



Meanwhile, the Alejandro González Iñárritu's directorial an untitled movie with Tom Cruise has taken The Batman 2's original release date. According to the official logline that Warner Bros. released it follows "the most powerful man in the world" as he "embarks on a frantic mission to prove he is humanity's saviour before the disaster he's unleashed destroys everything".
