Los Angeles, May 23 - The new Avengers movies will take more than the earlier scheduled time as Disney has postponed the release dates of Marvel Studios' Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret War by nearly 7 months each. ## Doomsday, which was supposed to be released on May 1st, 2026, will now debut in worldwide theatres on December 18, 2026. On the other hand, Secret Wars has been pushed back to December 17, 2027, from its originally planned May 7, 2027, launch. ## Notably, the new release calendar saw Disney remove several unannounced Marvel titles from its calendar. The date of Feb. 13, 2026, previously slotted for an Untitled Marvel project, has been removed from the schedule. Meanwhile, the dates of Nov. 6, 2026 and Nov. 5, 2027 — both previously set for Untitled Marvel features — have been amended to simply Untitled Disney films. ## After the changes, Avengers: Doomsday and Sony's Spider-Man: Brand New Day are now the only Marvel Cinematic Universe entries slated to hit theatres in 2026. The longest-running film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Avengers: Endgame (182 minutes), was directed by Russos and it was their last MCU film.## Well, the upcoming Avengers movies may not necessarily be the longest films in the MCU but they are surely going to be the closest to the longest film as according to the directors, the first one (Doomsday) is two and a half, and the second one (Secret Wars) is three hours long.## Doomsday, which is scheduled to hit the big screen on May 1, 2026, will start filming this summer. As per Russos, it will be the most radical Marvel movie to date and the audience will be shocked to see it. Mumbai, July 30 - Marvel Studios shocked the entertainment fraternity when it announced the much-talked-about comeback of Robert Downey Jr. in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to headline the next Avengers movies along with the director duo of Russo Brothers (Joe Russo and Anthony Russo) at the San Diego Comic-Con event recently.## Unlike what people might have thought Downey Jr. would make a comeback as Iron Man, the superhero character he has donned over the years since the inception of the MCU, the actor has been tasked to play the villainous Doctor Doom this time around.## Though the casting of Downey Jr. has garnered a mixed reception no one can deny the fact that it, along with Russos' directorial MCU comeback only gonna benefit Marvel big time just like the old days when they used to help Marvel print money at the box office like the back of hand. This, however, will cost Marvel way more than what it used to pay the Iron Man star and Russos in the past.## According to Variety, the Kavin Fiege-owned Marvel will sign a $80 million paycheck for Anthony and Joe Russo to direct Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars and significantly more for Robert Downey Jr. to tackle uber-villain Doctor Doom in the two tentpoles. ## The report further revealed that the Russos' deal with the studio doesn't include back-end compensation, but it does contain performance escalators that kick in at the $750 million and $1 billion thresholds. It is to be noted that the director duo is also producing the upcoming Avengers movies under their banner AGBO.## Downey Jr. has been by far the biggest paid member of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Variety reports that the actor has earned between $500 million and $600 million for playing Iron Man. For the upcoming Avengers movies, the actor will get the perks that include private jet travel, dedicated security and a whole trailer encampment, other than his massive undisclosed payday, which is, as said above, way more than Russos.## Avengers Doomsday and Avengers Secret Wars are scheduled to be released in May 2026, and May 2027, respectively. Mumbai, July 18 - In a massive but pleasant surprise, Joe and Anthony Russo, famously known as the Russo brothers, are in talks to return to the MCU to helm the next two Avengers movies, according to the report by The Hollywood Reporter.## It is to be noted that Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton was originally set to direct Avengers 5 but he backed out last year after the movie faced major hurdles due to the controversy surrounding actor Jonathan Majors who was to play the centre role as the main villain, Kang.## Marvel Studios has been searching for directors to oversee the fifth and sixth Avengers movies for a long time. The studio had earlier reportedly reached out to Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy for the fifth Avengers movie, but he had turned the offer down in the past. ## The talks with the Russo Brothers are in the early stages and if they agree, it will mark a homecoming for the director duo who once was the biggest IP of Marvel. They have directed four of Marvel's biggest movies, Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), followed by Captain America: Civil War (2016), Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019). ## The four Marvel movies directed by Russos generated a combined gross of $6.68+ billion, including Endgame ($2.79 billion) as the second highest-grossing movie ever at the worldwide box office behind only James Cameron's Avatar with $2.92 billion. ## Meanwhile, the fifth Avengers movie, scheduled to be released on 1 May 2026, was originally titled Avengers: Kang Dynasty and was to star Jonathan Majors as time-traveling villain Kang. The movie, however, is still in the scripting stage and is not going to start filming anytime soon. ## Avengers: Secret Wars will be the end of Marvel's multiverse saga, and the reports suggest it will be a 5-hour movie with a year-long intermission and the plans are already there to split it into two parts This suggests that its current slated date of May 7, 2027, will be quickly followed by "Avengers: Secret Wars" (Part 2) in 2028. ## Before Secret Wars, there is "Avengers: The Kang Dynasty" which is now reportedly referred to as Avengers 5 after actor Jonathan Majors who played Kang dropped from the MCU. As per the new Disney release calendar, "Avatar 3" has shifted to December 2025, followed by "Avatar 4" to December 2029, and "Avatar 5" to December 2031. ## Among its high-profile release slate, Disney has added up a live-action "Moana" film for June 2025, debut, and an untitled "Star Wars" movie on December 2026. ## Meanwhile, the studio has reshuffled the entire Marvel slate. It is said that Blade, which was supposed to release on November 3, 2023, will now be hitting theaters on September 6, 2024. The movie was to start production in 2022, but the search for the director is still on and the production has been delayed to early 2023. ## The delay in "Blade" production has created a cascade in Marvel's schedule. The untitled Deadpool 3 movie is moving to November 8, 2024, from September 6, 2024. The film stars Ryan Reynolds and has brought Hugh Jackman out of retirement as Wolverine. It has Shawn Levy set as a director.## Fantastic Four has been pushed back several months to February 14, 2025, back from November 8, 2024. The film, one of Marvel's most anticipated, has yet to cast the four leads. Among studios' exciting line-up, Fiege also finally announced two more "Avengers" films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe - "Avengers: The Kang Dynasty" and "Avengers: Secret Wars", releasing in 2025. ## The last Avengers movie was "Avengers: Endgame", which was released in 2019, so the gap between "Endgame" and the next in the franchise "Avengers: The Kang Dynasty", is officially 6 years which is the highest between two Avengers movies. There have been a total of four films released in the franchise so far, and there was three years gap between the first three films, while one year separated the releases of "Infinity War" and “Endgame".## Kevin Feige, meanwhile, has a point to justify the 6 years gap between "Avengers 4" and "Avengers 5", and also explained why the first 4 films didn't take much time. He was in conversation with MTV News (via variety). ## "The truth is, when we were doing Phase 1, Phase 2 and Phase 3, there were less projects over more years. They were smaller projects and individual character stories, and it felt appropriate at that point, that after every two or three years that it took for a phase, we would do an 'Avengers' film", Feige said. ## "As [Phase] 4, 5 and 6 were coming together, there are more projects in less years – because of all the amazing stuff we're now allowed to do on Disney+, and getting characters from Fox, Fantastic Four and Deadpool — that it felt like, certainly after 'Infinity War' and 'Endgame', that we thought 'Avengers' movies aren't cappers. So many of our movies now and what you're about to see in 'Ant-Man 3', are big team-up films introducing big parts of the mythology... Los Angeles, July 24 - Marvel Studios is moving ahead quickly and has sorted out its upcoming films and shows till 2025. The studio has confirmed at SDCC that its Phases 4, 5, and 6 have been titled The Multiverse Saga. The ongoing Phase 4 will conclude with Ryan Coogler's "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever", which will release on November 11, 2022. ## The studio, headed by Kevin Feige, gave a glimpse into its future projects in Phase 5 and Phase 6. Phase 5 will kick off with Paul Rudd's "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania", which has been slated for February 17, 2023, release. The first official poster of the movie was dropped at San Diego Comic-Con 2022. ## There will be a total of 12 titles in MCU's Phase 5 which will be the culmination of 6 theatrical and streaming titles each.
