While an official announcement from the makers is still awaited, new reports have emerged regarding the specific release date for Namit Malhotra’s highly anticipated adaptation of the Ramayana. Following the significant buzz generated by last week’s trailer, Bollywood Hungama has exclusively shared that the film is expected to arrive in theaters worldwide on Friday, November 6, 2026. This potential window addresses the recent speculation about whether the epic would opt for an early release or wait until the actual Diwali festival day on November 8.
The decision to release on November 6 is part of a global day-and-date strategy, ensuring that the film opens simultaneously in most international markets. While the days leading up to Diwali are traditionally considered a slow period for the Indian box office, trade analysts believe this project will be a significant exception. The logic is that the immense buzz will drive a strong opening on Friday, followed by an unprecedented surge in footfalls from Monday, November 9, as the peak holiday period begins.
The distribution network for this large-scale production is equally significant. Dharma Productions has been brought on board to handle the distribution across India, while Sony Pictures has secured the rights for the overseas market. On the commercial front, the film has already made headlines with its music rights. T-Series has reportedly bagged the rights for both parts of the saga in an advance deal worth ₹75 crores, highlighting the massive financial expectations surrounding the project.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film features a star-studded cast including Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Ravana. The ensemble is further bolstered by Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman. Adding to the technical prestige is the musical collaboration between A. R. Rahman and Academy Award winner Hans Zimmer, who are together composing the score for this two-part epic.
As per the current roadmap, this is a two-part cinematic event. While the first part is locked for this Diwali, the second installment is already being planned for a Diwali 2027 release. By securing a prime Friday slot, the makers are positioning the film to capitalize on one of the biggest holiday windows in the history of Indian cinema.
