Box Office: Doctor Strange 2 Becomes Biggest Grosser of 2022 Worldwide

Mumbai, May 23 - Marvel Studios has once again claimed the top position at the box office as "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of the Madness" has become the highest-grossing movie of 2022 at the worldwide box office. ## The superhero movie, directed by Sam Raimi, has crossed the $800 million global mark, which includes $342.1 million from domestic (North America) and $461.1 million from the international box office, for a total $803.2 million through 3rd weekend. The numbers become even more strong knowing the fact that the movie hasn't been released in China and Russia, two of the biggest movie markets. ## Among 28 Marvel Cinematic Universe films (and excluding China and Russia), "Doctor Strange 2" lands at No. 11 so far on a global basis. It is currently the only film of 2022 to top $800 million, and the second-highest-grossing Hollywood title during the covid-19 pandemic, after "Spider-Man: No Way Home" ($1.89 billion). Warner Bros' "The Batman" is the second-biggest movie of 2022 worldwide with $768 million. ## Among the top international markets, Korea remains the top contributor with $45.9M, followed by the UK ($43.8M), Mexico ($35.7M), Brazil ($29.2M), and Australia ($23M). Box Office: Doctor Strange 2 Breaks Into 100 Crores Net Club In India

Mumbai, May 13 - Marvel is the biggest non-domestic movie brand in India and it has been proved once again with the studios' latest superhero flick, "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of the Madness". ## Directed by the maverick Sam Raimi, "Doctor Strange 2" has crossed the prestigious 100 crores net mark at the Indian box office and becomes the second non-domestic film in 5 months to reach the figure. Earlier, Marvel/Sony's "Spider-Man: No Way Home" did it with ease and went on to score over 260 crores gross. ## The sequel to 2016's movie has broken into the 100 crores net club in the first week itself with Rs. 104 crores for all languages. 'Doctor Strange 2' Off To Heroic Launch In North America As It Crosses $450M Worldwide

Mumbai, May 8 - The dominance of Disney's Marvel Cinematic Universe at the box office continues as the studios' latest superhero movie "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of the Madness" is off to a heroic start in North America with $187 million in the 3-day opening weekend. ## The $187 million launch marks the 11th biggest opening weekend in North American box office history and the biggest of 2022, beating Warner Bros' "The Batman" ($134M). This is also the biggest opening for Dinsey since "The Lion King" ($191M) in 2019. The Sam Raimi-directed movie also came above the industry's 160M-180M projections. ## Interestingly, at the domestic box office, the "Doctor Strange" sequel outscored its predecessor's entire opening weekend tally in a single day. "Doctor Strange 2" raked in $90 million on Friday alone, while the 2016 blockbuster brought in $85 million between Friday and Sunday. ## Internationally, "Doctor Strange 2" earned a whopping $262.4 million from 49 territories, taking the global total to $449.4 million through Sunday (May 8). Box Office: Doctor Strange 2 Advance Booking Status And Opening Day Prediction In India

Mumbai, May 5 - Marvel Studios/Sony Pictures' "Spider-Man: No Way Home" was one of the first films to bring the Indian box office on its strong feet with big box office numbers in December last year. And now, another Marvel movie with Disney, "Doctor Strange: In The Multiverse Of Madness" is ready to roar in India. ## Directed by Sam Raimi, "Doctor Strange 2" has been one of the most-awaited non-Indian movies and the advance booking for the same was opened nearly a month before its release on May 6 in multiple languages. As expected, the superhero movie is getting a phenomenal response in the advance sales as it has already reached 28 crores gross. ## The original English version of the movie is leading the advance sales with approx. 19.70 crores gross, including all formats, followed by the Hindi version with approx. 7 crores gross. The Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada versions have scored approx. 1.30 crore in advance sales. ## The advance booking of the "Doctor Strange" sequel is very much in line with "Spider-Man: No Way Home" which scored 22.50 crores gross in advances for the first day, mostly with 50% occupancy. While Tom Holland-fronted movie took the opening of 32.67 crores net or 41.50 crores gross for all languages in India, "Doctor Strange" might open with a lesser number. As of now, the movie is tracking to earn around 30-32 crores net or 40 crores gross (+/-), which will be a huge opening. ## In a long run, "Doctor Strange 2" might not reach the box office figures of "Spider-Man: No Way Home", which grossed 260+ crores in India. 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' To Be Allowed To Release In China On One Condition

Mumbai, May 2 - Marvel/Sony's "Spider-Man: No Way Home" was released in December 2021 and went on to become one of the biggest grosser of all time with a worldwide collection of $1.89 billion.
