Los Angeles, July 27 - Director Russo Brothers' spy action thriller The Gray Man finally dropped on Netflix this past Friday (July 22). The movie was expected to bring huge viewership and it did not disappoint and scored 88.55 million viewing hours in the first three days. ## The film starring Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, Ana de Armes, Dhanush, and Julia Butters, among others, has been trending in the top 10 in 93 countries. It is the most expensive Netflix movie ever with a budget of $200 million and even though it did not top the overall viewership charts, it comfortably sits in the top 5 most-watched films ever in the first three days on Netflix. ## Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot, and Ryan Reynolds' "Red Notice" is the most watched film on the opening weekend with 148.72 million viewing hours, followed by "Don't Look Up" (111.03 million hours), "The Adam Project" (92.43 million hours), and "The Kissing Booth 3" (90.86 million hours). Los Angeles, July 27 - Disney Plus is preparing for its next and probably the most unique series "I Am Groot". The adorably chaotic Baby Groot, one of the Guardians of the Galaxy, is set to headline his first own show on the streamer. ## "I Am Groot" is Marvel Studios' second fully animated Disney+ series after "What If...?". The upcoming series consists of five shorts that make up the entire series. These shorts will all premiere at once on Wednesday, August 10 on Disney+/Disney+Hotstar. ## It will be a completely different series in the MCU, meaning nothing Groot does in this show will have any effect on the live-action Guardians movies. This new series will give a fun look into the fan-favorite Guardian of the Galaxy, also called a hero of a few words as he takes on his own battles and challenges. ## Meanwhile, the first critics' reactions to the series are out online two weeks before it officially debuts on the streamer. Los Angeles, July 27 - Netflix is expanding the "The Gray Man" universe and officially confirmed a direct sequel and a spinoff to the Russo Brother spy action thriller film. Following the Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans-led film's arrival on Netflix this past Friday, which debuted at #1 on Netflix, the streamer is making plans for the film to be just the first piece of a "major spy franchise".## The sequel will see Ryan Gosling and director duo Joe and Anthony Russo, and co-writer Stephen McFeely, returning. Mumbai, July 26 - Marvel Studios' Disney Plus shows dominated the Indian market in the first half of 2022 as far as the international shows are concerned. Ormax Media, which tracks viewership data for the Indian and international streaming titles in India, has released the list of most-watched shows in the first half of 2022 in India. ## The Oscar Isaac-fronted Marvel superhero series Moon Knight scored the highest viewership among the international shows in India in the first half of 2022. The 6-episode series scored 23.4 million views since its debut on March 30. The first episode of the series was released on March 30 on Disney+Hotstar and it ended with the 6th episode on May 4. ## The second most-viewed international show in India also belonged to Marvel/Disney+ in the form of Iman Vellani-headed Ms. Marvel. It scored 16.7 million views till June 30th, after debuting on June 8. "Ms. Marvel" is the highest-rated MCU title (films or shows) on Rotten Tomatoes of all time with a 98% critics score. ## Meanwhile, Netflix's global smash hit Stranger Things season 4, which is the most-watched English show on Netflix of all time, remained the 3rd most-viewed international show in India with 15.8 million views. Season 4 of this sci-fi horror series was released in two parts - the first part of 7 episodes debuted on May 27 while the remaining two episodes in part 2 were released on July 1st.## Since Ormax Media has measured viewership data till June 30th, it is clear that the final two episodes of "Stranger Things 4" were not considered, otherwise, it would have easily topped "Ms. Marvel" to become the second most international show in India. The actor headlined Disney+Hotstar's psychological crime thriller web series Rudra: The Edge of Darkness, which has emerged as the most-watched Hindi web series in the first half of 2022 (1st Jan - June 30th). ## Directed by Rajesh Mapuskar, "Rudra: The Edge of Darkness" has scored 35.2 million views so far, according to Ormax Media. The 6-episode series, which is a remake of the British series "Luther", was released on March 4 and becomes the most-watched show this year. ## "Aashram" season 3, starring Bobby Deol, is the second most-watched Hindi show this year so far. Released on June 3rd, the 10-episode show has garnered 34.3 million views on MX Player while Jitendra Kumar's "Panchayat" second season scored 29.6 million views on Amazon Prime Video and is the 3rd most Hindi show this year. ## Meanwhile, Yami Gautam-starrer critically hailed thriller film A Thursday topped the feature film chart on the digital platform. Directed by Behzad Khambata, the movie was released directly on Disney Plus Hotstar on February 17 and emerged as the most-watched Hindi film this year so far, as per the Ormax Media study. ## Director Shakun Batra's romantic drama film on modern relationships, "Gehraiyaan" is the second most-watched Hindi film with 22.3 million views. It stars Deepika Padukone, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Ananya Panday, and Dhairya Karwa in lead roles and it received mixed to negative reviews upon its direct release on Amazon Prime Video on February 11. ## The biographical sports drama "Kaun Pravin Tambe?" starring Shreyas Talpade as Pravin Tambe scored 20.2 million views so far and is number 3 among the highest-viewed Hindi films of 2022. This move impacted the exhibitors badly and also affected the box office potential of the films. ## The move of reducing the theatrical window was criticized by the theater owners but they were helpless and could do nothing but reduce the release window. However, with things looking bright now for the box office, reports suggest that the multiplex owners are to bring back the conventional 8-week theatrical window for all Bollywood movies. ## It has been said that all Bollywood films, starting from August 1st, will have to follow the pre-covid rule of an 8-week release window in theaters before going to OTT. The multiplex association of India said to have had conversations with all the producers and they are all on the same page now. Those, who will not follow the rule will not be allowed to release their movies in theaters. ## There are many big films from August onwards, which are carrying a lot of excitement and box office prospects. Akshay Kumar-fronted "Raksha Bandhan" and Aamir Khan's "Laal Singh Chaddha" are scheduled to release on August 11, and both movies will now be premiering on OTT, only after 8-weeks of theatrical run. ## The movies which are releasing in July, most of them will have an OTT premiere, 4-weeks after the release in theaters. Mumbai, July 6 - Duffer Brothers, the creators of Netflix's global smash hit Stranger Things have formed Upside Down Pictures and signed a deal with Netflix for several new projects. ## Duffer Brothers are already committed to developing the final season of "Stranger Things" for which, they will start writing in September this year with shooting taking place next year for the 2024 premiere. The final season of Netflix's most-watched show will see the epic good vs evil battle between Eleven and Vecna. ## Meanwhile, Matt and Ross Duffer have unveiled plans for a spinoff series of their blockbuster hit for the streamer. The project, details of which are being kept under wraps for now, is but one of five projects the siblings have unveiled as part of their nine-figure overall deal for Netflix. ## The live-action Stranger Things spinoff is based on an original idea by Duffer Brothers. Mumbai, July 6 - Netflix has its second billion hours watched show as Stranger Things 4 has surpassed this rare milestone after the final two episodes.## The final two episodes dropped on July 1st as a part of Volume 2 of "Stranger Things 4" helped the show to pull in another 301.2 million viewing hours last week, including approx. 220 million watched hours of episodes 8 & 9. The total watched hours of this sci-fi horror drama series has now reached 1.15 billion. ## "Stranger Things 4" is the most-watched only show on Netflix and the second most for any language. It is also only the second show ever to cross 1 billion viewing hours on Netflix, after Korean global hit "Squid Game", which clocked 1.6 billion watched hours in its first 28 days. ## The Duffer Brothers-created series was the most-watched show for the week (June 27 - July 3) and it is only expected to rise over the next three and a half weeks. Season 4 of this science fiction horror drama series has already become the most-watched English series on Netflix with over 930 million viewing hours. ## According to Nielsen, "Stranger Things" scored 7.2 billion viewing minutes for the week of May 30-June 5, which is the highest weekly total for any streaming title since the advent of weekly rankings almost two years ago. ## Nielsen counts all episodes of a series in totaling its streaming rankings, but it is certain that the majority of the 7.2 billion minutes of "Stranger Things" came from the seven episodes of season four released on May 27. ## "Stranger Things" series also has the biggest two-week tally for any streaming show with 12.34 billion viewing minutes. It was watched for 5.14 billion (including more than 75% from S4) minutes in the week of May 23 - May 29.
