Mahavatar Narsimha Beats The Lion King To Become The Highest-Grossing Animated Movie In India

Mumbai, August 11 - There is no stopping Mahavatar Narsimha at the box office as the devotional epic action drama continues to rewrite box office records for an Indian animation film. Directed by Kaleem Productions and Hombale Films, the movie had an excellent third weekend, which saw it cross 200 crores worldwide. ## Directed by Ashwin Kumar, Mahavatar Narsimha is already the highest-grossing Indian animated movie of all time by an uncomparable margin, and now, it has become the highest animated grosser at the Indian box office by beating Disney's The Lion King (2019). ## Directed by Jon Favreau, The Lion King is a photorealistically animated remake of the traditionally animated 1994 film. It grossed over 190+ crores in India in 2019, a record which has now been broken by the first film in the Mahavatar Cinematic Universe. ## The Indian blockbuster has grossed approximately 202 crores (169+ crores net) in India, while its overseas collection is around 213 crores gross in 17 days so far. These numbers are unheard of for an Indian animation, as the second biggest grosser is 2005's Hanuman, which scored around 11 crores gross domestically. ## Mahavatar Narsimha chronicles the Mahaan avatars of Bhagwan Vishnu - Varaha and Narsimha. Varaha, a mighty boar, rescues Bhudevi (Mother Earth) from the Asura Hiranyaksha. After his victory, the story shifts to Hiranyakashipu, Hiranyaksha's brother, who gains a boon, declares himself a god, and oppresses Vishnu’s followers. Prahlad, his son and devoted follower of Vishnu, remains faithful despite his father's threats. Los Angeles, July 21 - The Hollywood film industry is currently riding high on back-to-back box office successes, with recent titles like F1, Jurassic World Rebirth, and Superman drawing in huge crowds. Los Angeles, July 18 - Disney's science fiction comedy Lilo & Stitch has ended the wait for Hollywood to score its first $1 billion grosser of the year. Interestingly, the movie was originally planned for Disney+ streaming. ## The studio officially announced on Thursday that Lilo & Stitch has topped $1 billion at the worldwide box office through Wednesday (July 16), after grossing $416.2 million at the domestic (North America) and $584.8 million at the overseas box office, for the worldwide cume total of $1.001 billion. ## Among the biggest international markets for the movie, Mexico topped with $67 million, followed by the United Kingdom with $49 million, France with $42.4 million, Brazil with $37.4 million, and Germany with $32.5 million. ## Overall, Lilo and Stitch is the 57th movie ever to gross $1 billion and more at the global box office, including China's Ne Zha 2, which is the only non-Hollywood title in the list of billion-dollar grossers. 'Avengers: Doomsday' And 'Avengers: Secret Wars' Release Dates Postponed

Los Angeles, May 23 - The new Avengers movies will take more than the earlier scheduled time as Disney has postponed the release dates of Marvel Studios' Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret War by nearly 7 months each. ## Doomsday, which was supposed to be released on May 1st, 2026, will now debut in worldwide theatres on December 18, 2026. On the other hand, Secret Wars has been pushed back to December 17, 2027, from its originally planned May 7, 2027, launch. ## Notably, the new release calendar saw Disney remove several unannounced Marvel titles from its calendar. The date of Feb. 13, 2026, previously slotted for an Untitled Marvel project, has been removed from the schedule. Meanwhile, the dates of Nov. 6, 2026 and Nov. 5, 2027 — both previously set for Untitled Marvel features — have been amended to simply Untitled Disney films. ## After the changes, Avengers: Doomsday and Sony's Spider-Man: Brand New Day are now the only Marvel Cinematic Universe entries slated to hit theatres in 2026. Mumbai, February 18 - Chinese blockbuster Ne Zha 2 has outgrossed Disney's mega-hit Inside Out 2 to become the highest-grossing animated movie of all time at the worldwide box office, taking just 21 days to achieve this feat. ## Opened during Chinese New Year on January 29, the sequel to the 2019 mega-hit has grossed $1.70+ billion at the worldwide box office, including $1.69+ billion from China alone. Inside Out 2 minted $1.698 billion in its lifetime run in 2024. ## Ne Zha 2 has become a never-before-seen phenomenon which is breaking record after record. As reported earlier, it is the highest-grossing Chinese movie and the first ever to top $1 billion in a single market. It did this unthinkable on its 12th day. ## Made on a budget of $80 million, the fantasy epic isn't gonna stop anytime soon as local media projecting it to cross the $2 billion collection in China. SSMB 29 To Be A Two-Part Epic Adventure, To Be Made On 1000 Crore Budget

Hyderabad, January 1 - The wait for maverick director SS Rajamouli's next film with superstar Mahesh Babu is finally coming to an end with the movie officially getting launched on January 2 in a private ceremony in Hyderabad in the presence of a few people. ## It was recently revealed that India's global icon Priyanka Chopra plays the female lead role opposite Mahesh Babu while Malayalam star Prithviraj Sukumaran is the lead antagonist.
