Deepika Padukone To Receive A Star On Hollywood Walk of Fame; First Indian Citizen To Get The Honour
Mumbai, July 3 - In a historic recognition, star Indian actress Deepika Padukone is set to be honoured with a Star on the prestigious Hollywood Walk of Fame, Class of 2026. The announcement was made on Wednesday evening via a livestream by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce's selection panel. ## Padukone joins an illustrious list of 35 honourees this year, which includes acclaimed Hollywood names such as Emily Blunt, Rami Malek, Timothée Chalamet, Rachel McAdams, Stanley Tucci, and Demi Moore, among others. ## While Deepika becomes the first Indian citizen to receive this honour, she is not the first person of Indian origin. The late Sabu Dastagir, born in Mysore in 1924, was the first Indian to be inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960. Discovered by director Robert Flaherty, Sabu rose to fame with the 1937 film Elephant Boy, and after taking American citizenship in 1944, he went on to star in many successful Hollywood productions. ## Deepika Padukone's induction marks a major milestone in her international career, further cementing her status as a global ambassador for Indian cinema.
