'Moonfall' Director Blams Superhero And Star Wars Films For Ruining The Film Industry

Los Angeles, February 6 - Hollywood filmmaker, Roland Emmerich joins many other actors and filmmakers who believe that the lack of originality in superhero and Star Wars films is ruining the industry. ## The director, whose latest big-budget science fiction disaster film "Moonfall" opened poorly at the box office, has lambasted the state of the movie business because these types (superhero) of movies exist.## While talking about his newest disaster film, he mentions in a conversation with Den of Geek, "Because naturally, Marvel and DC Comics and Star Wars have pretty much taken over. It's ruining our industry a little bit because nobody does anything original anymore".## Emmerich claims to be all about originality and believes that Christopher Nolan is making bold choices when it comes to filmmaking. "You should make bold new movies, you know? And I think, actually, Christopher Nolan is the master of that. He is someone who can make movies about whatever he wants", he said.## Meanwhile, Emmerich's latest venture, "Moonfall", which was shot in Montreal on a $145 million production budget, opened to poor reviews with 40 percent on Rotten tomatoes while its CinemaScore is also weak C+. At the box office, it opened to nearly $3.5 million on Friday, which is poor for a big-budget film. ## Stay tuned...

'The Batman' Early Box Office Projections Eyeing Biggest Opening Ever For A Batman Movie

Los Angeles, February 5 - After "Spider-Man: No Way Home", Hollywood is gearing up for the next blockbuster in the form of "The Batman", which is just a month away from its debut on March 4. The DC superhero movie is one of the most anticipated films and the hype around it just keeps getting bigger and bigger. ## Starring Robert Pattinson as a new version of the Caped Crusader, "The Batman" is carrying a lot of expectations as far as the box office is concerned. And the early box office projections for "The Batman" is also suggesting it could take the biggest opening for a Batman movie ever. ## According to Box Office Pro, the 2022's first bona fide tentpole is currently tracking to earn between $135-$185 million domestically in its opening weekend while its lifetime box office projection currently stands between $340-$540 million domestically. ## If the movie opens to its higher projection of $185 million, it will be the biggest debut for a Batman movie ever at the domestic box office (North America). Only three "Batman" movies have had opening weekends of over $100 million domestically, the highest of which overall is "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice's" $166 million. Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight Rises" sits just behind it at $160 million in the opening weekend. ## Directed by Matt Reeves, "The Batman" is on track to become only the second movie (excluding China) to open over $100 million domestically during the covid-19 pandemic. "Spider-Man: No Way Home" was the first to do. If the Warner Bros. movie opens to its lower end of the projection, it would still place it easily in the top-5 all-time for Batman project. ## The film's cast includes Robert Pattinson as Batman, Colin Farrell as The Penguin, Paul Dano as The Riddler, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Bella Real, Barry Keoghan as Officer Stanley Merkel, and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth.## Stay tuned...

Tom Holland's Reaction To 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' Box Office Success Is All Heart

Los Angeles, February 4 - The latest Spider-Man movie, "Spider-Man: No Way Home" is going nuts at the worldwide box office and breaking records with each passing day. The superhero movie, fronted by Tom Holland, has already become one of the all-time highest-grossing films. ## The box office success of "No Way Home" has left everyone wondering about how did it do that and Tom Holland is no exception. During the promotional press tour of Tom Holland's upcoming movie "Uncharted", the actor was informed how close "No Way Home" is to passing "Avatar's" lifetime domestic (North America) box office total. ## Holland was asked by a journalist how he was feeling about the success of "No Way Home". As you can see in the video below, Holland had no idea just how well the movie was performing and when the journalist informs him the film is just $20 million from crossing "Avatar" domestically, Holland couldn't believe what he's hearing, even looking to his team off-camera for validation.## TOM’S FACE WHEN HE DROPS THE NEWS 😭 pic.twitter.com/FkXWBMrPMC— Cam 🎬 (@camandfilm) February 2, 2022 ## Now to fact-check the claims in the video, "No Way Home" won't become the biggest movie domestically by crossing only "Avatar" ($760M). If it crosses James Cameron-directed, it will become the 3rd biggest Hollywood movie at the domestic box office, behind "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" ($936M) and "Avengers: Endgame" ($858M). ## At the worldwide box office, "Spider-Man: No Way Home" is currently at the 6th spot among the all-time biggest grosser with a $1.73 billion box office total. "Avatar" is currently the number 1 movie with $2.84 billion and "Avengers: Endgame" at number w with $2.79 billion. At once, "Endgame" had overtaken "Avatar" but after the re-release in China last year, the sci-fi epic reclaimed the top spot. ## Stay tuned...

At Last Daniel Craig Talks About His James Bond Ending In 'No Time To Die'

Mumbai, January 31 - The No Time To Die ending was pretty seismic for the franchise. We saw, for the very first time, James Bond die on screen. Now, Daniel Craig has finally spilled on what his Bond's final moments meant to him and revealed the idea to kill off the iconic spy first popped into his head while filming 2006's Casino Royale.## "I had this idea, I wanted to kill him off a long time ago – in Casino Royale – for all sorts of reasons," Craig said while talking to Javier Bardem, who previously played the villain Raoul Silva in Skyfall, for Variety (via ScreenRant). ## "One, purely egotistical. I feel like I needed to end what I did on it. I would be only satisfied if I could walk away and there was nowhere else for that to go, that someone else would have to come along and invent something completely different. But also because I thought that was a good way for it to continue, and I knew that the only way to make it work was that it had to be based on love, and every time that we've gone emotionally into this, it pays back every time.## Where exactly the James Bond series goes from here remains to be seen. There are already countless names in the hat to take over as the next James Bond – click that link for the biggest actors in contention – while other ideas have circulated online for how the franchise may continue. 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' Beats Odd To Swing Past Magical $1B At The Overseas Box Office

Mumbai, January 31 - Tom Holland-fronted "Spider-Man: No Way Home", amid the covid-19 pandemic and without a single penny from China, has crossed the magical $1 billion mark at the overseas box office. The superhero movie has now grossed $1.003B overseas over the 7th weekend, pushing the global total to a mighty $1.74 billion. ## The Marvel/Sony Pictures has now become only the 10th film of all time to reach $1 billion at the international box office. Without China, which is the biggest movie market in the world, "Spider-Man: No Way Home" is only the 6th title to achieve the feet. The movie currently stands at number 6 at the worldwide box office among the all-time highest grosser. ## "No Way Home" has also become the top-grossing superhero movie ever with a market cume of $120.1M in the United Kingdom, which is currently leading film's overseas box office, followed by Mexico with $74.4M, Korea at $61.5M, France at $61.2M, Australia with $55.2M, and Brazil at $53.8M. ## The Jon Watts-directed has beaten "Avengers: Endgame" in 19 international territories to become the highest-grossing title ever there, which are - the UK, Mexico, Croatia, Argentina, Belgium, Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lithuania, Mongolia, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Syria, Turkey, and Ukraine. ## In India, "No Way Home" is the second-biggest non-domestic film ever with $36.2 million. Joaquin Phoenix-Led 'Joker' Sequel Is Being Planned To Start Filming In 2023! Hollywood

Joaquin Phoenix-Led 'Joker' Sequel Is Being Planned To Start Filming In 2023!

Mumbai, January 30 - Todd Phillips-directed, "Joker" movie starring Joaquin Phoenix, made some big waves upon its release in 2019. From becoming the first R-Rated movie to gross $1 billion worldwide to win 2 Oscars from 11 nominations, the psychological thriller film eventually became the highlight of that year. ## In November 2019, The Hollywood Reporter had revealed the sequel of "Joker" was officially under the works at Warner Bros. studio with Phoenix and Phillips returning. But there hasn't been much development since then and many guessed that the studio might have dropped the idea of its sequel. It might also be because "Joker", despite all the accolades, received harsh criticism for its depiction of mental illness. ## However, according to the latest reports, "Joker 2" is very much on and Warner Bros. has even started the pre-production work on the sequel. According to Heroic Hollywood, Warner Bros. has officially received the first draft of its script and the film will begin shooting sometime in 2023. Plot details are being kept in a cell at Arkham Asylum.## The Joker hasn’t shown up on the big screen since the Joaquin Phoenix film, but he has made a number of smaller-scale appearances, namely with Jared Leto reprising his role as the Clown Prince of Crime in "Zack Snyder's Justice League" cut. The character is also rumored to be appearing in the upcoming "The Batman" movie starring Robert Pattinson as Caped Crusader. ## Joaquin Phoenix had won the Oscar for the Best Actor for his role in "Joker". The movie had also won the Oscar for Best Original Score by Hildur Guðnadóttir. Apart from two wins, "Jokar" got nominations for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Adapted Screenplay, among five other categories at the 92nd Academy Awards. ## Directed by Todd Phillips from a script he co-wrote with Scott Silver, the film stars Joaquin Phoenix as Joker, Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz, Bill Camp, Frances Conroy, Brett Cullen, Glenn Fleshler, Douglas Hodge, Marc Maron, Josh Pais, and Shea Whigham in prominent roles.## Stay tuned...

'Spider-Man: No Way Home' Beats The Combined Total Of Tom Holland's First Two Spider-Man Movies At Domestic Box Office Hollywood

'Spider-Man: No Way Home' Beats The Combined Total Of Tom Holland's First Two Spider-Man Movies At Domestic Box Office

Los Angeles, January 30 - The Marvel/Sony Pictures' "Spider-Man: No Way Home", which has already broken several box office records worldwide, has now become bigger than the combined first two Spider-Man movies featuring Tom Holland at the domestic (North America) box office. ## The finale of Tom Holland's Homecoming trilogy grossed $2.75 million on its 7th Friday, pushing the film's total domestic cume to $727.6 million. The "No Way Home's" total domestic cume is $2.9 million higher than the combined total of "Spider-Man: Homecoming", and "Spider-Man: Far From Home". ## "Spider-Man: Homecoming", which was released in 2017, had grossed $334.2 million at the domestic box office, while its worldwide total reached $880.1 million. On the other hand, "Spider-Man: Far From Home", released in 2019, did better than "Homecoming" and grossed $390.5 million domestically and $1.1 billion globally.## However, there shouldn't be any comparison among all three Spider-Man movies in the Homecoming trilogy. While the first two Tom Holland-fronted Spidey flicks were released when there was no covid-19, "No Way Home" has battled the pandemic all the way and how. It is already the biggest Spider-Man movie of all time, both at the domestic and overseas box office and overall, the 6th highest-grossing movie ever at the worldwide box office.## One of the main reasons behind "No Way Home's" blockbuster box office success is the surprise elements involved in it. The movie introduces the multiverse concept into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), which allows the popular characters from the past Spider-Man movies to feature in the film. ## Directed by Jon Watts, in the film, Peter Parker (Holland) asks Dr. Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) to use magic to make his Spider-Man identity a secret again following its public revelation at the end of Far From Home. When the spell goes wrong, the multiverse is broken open which allows visitors from alternate realities to enter Parker's universe.## Stay tuned...

The actor is reportedly in final negotiations to join the ensemble cast in what is being called "Fast & Furious 10" as a working title. ## While the plot details are yet to be known, the THR report says that Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Michelle Rodriguez, and Sung Kang are expected to rejoin the team with Justin Lin returning to direct. Vin Diesel and Lin are producing the film while Universal Pictures working as a distributor. ## Meanwhile, Vin Diesel wanted Dwayne Johnson to join him in the finale of this highly popular action film franchise in the world. The "F9", which debuted in Summer 2021, was a major hit at the worldwide box office, grossing over $720 million. ## Momoa, on the other hand, has wrapped up the shoot of the much-awaited DC Superhero film, Aquaman sequel, "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom", last year. HBO Max's 'Batgirl' Cast Ivory Aquino As First Trans Character In DC Comics' Film

Los Angeles, January 25 - The upcoming HBO Max feature film "Batgirl", based on DC Comics has officially cast Ivory Aquino as Alysia Yeoh. Both Aquino and Yeoh are transgender, marking the first time a live-action DC Comics feature film will feature an openly trans character.## Ivory Aquino as Alysia Yeoh will play the best friend of the titular superhero, a.k.a. Barbara Gordon played by Leslie Grace in this original HBO Max film. Yeoh first appeared in a 2011 issue of "Batgirl" written by Gail Simone and penciled by Ardian Syaf.## According to Variety, news of Aquino's casting first leaked online in mid-January after Grace posted a photo seemingly from the set of the film to her Instagram story, tagging Aquino and captioning the shot (of two women crossing the street) with "Barbara and Alysia".## There have been several strides in broadening LGBTQ+ representation in superhero adaptations over the past few years. 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' New Stills Finally Give An Official Look At Spider-Man Trio

Mumbai, January 25 - Marvel/Sony Pictures did everything to keep the Spider-Man fans guessing about the elements in "Spider-Man: No Way Home", released a month ago. Even though the secret was revealed with the release of the film in December 2021, the social media users, however, have finally their first official look at the secret, Marvel/Sony was hiding until yesterday. ## For the first time since the film's release in December, fans are seeing a photo from the movie prominently featuring its best and most spoilery part. The image comes courtesy of an interview VFX supervisor Chris Waegner did with the website Befores and Afters, in which he broke down several key special effects sequences in the movie.## One of the first images shows Tom Holland's Peter Parker/Spider-Man uniting with Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire's web slingers. In the image, the Spider-Man in the front and center with his Stark Industries-built suit is Tom Holland while the leftmost figure is Tobey Maguire's Peter Parker and the right one is Andrew Garfield's.## After years of speculation about a multiverse reunion, "Spider-Man: No Way Home" brought together all three actors who had played live-action versions of the Marvel hero in the Spider-Man trilogy and The Amazing Spider-Man movies. It is the first official image featuring the Spider-Man trio together.## Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, & Tom Holland assemble in first official #SpiderManNoWayHome still of the Spidey trio 🕷🕷🕷 pic.twitter.com/06PCEzH6UU— Fandom (@getFANDOM) January 24, 2022 ## The other images reveal the looks of Garfield and Tobey's Peter Parkers while fighting the villains during the climax scene. Interestingly, Marvel/Sony hide two other Spideys except Tom Holland's during the fight climax scene in the trailer for the Brazilian audiences. However, the fans did notice the mistake and kept their guessing game on. 'Venom: Let There Be Carnage' Beats 'Venom' At The Domestic Box Office After Re-Release

Los Angeles, January 24 - Tom Hardy-fronted "Venom: Let There Be Carnage" is putting strong legs at the domestic box office, even after it was made available on PVOD services in late November 2021. ## The superhero movie, directed by Andy Serkis, was re-released second last weekend in the domestic (North America) market. The Marvel/ Sony film grossed an additional $175k in its second weekend of re-release and 17th overall, lifting its overall domestic cume to an estimated $213.5 million.## After its latest box office figure, "Venom 2" has matched the total cume of 2018's "Venom" movie at the domestic box office and will cross it anytime now. "Venom 2" was already the 3rd highest domestic grosser of the covid-19 pandemic era, and now, with crossing "Venom", it has achieved another milestone. Not to forget, "Venom" had released in a time when there was no covid. ## At the worldwide box office, "Venom 2" is only the 4th Hollywood title of the pandemic era to cross $500 million, after "Spider-Man: No Way Home", "James Bond - No Time To Die", and "Fast & Furious 9". With nearly $503 million, "Venom 2", however, is way behind "Venom's" global cume of $856 million.## The movie stars Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock/Venom alongside Michelle Williams, Naomie Harris, Reid Scott, Stephen Graham, and Woody Harrelson in prominent roles. In the film, Brock and the alien symbiote Venom must face serial killer Cletus Kasady (Harrelson) after he becomes the host of an offshoot of Venom named Carnage.## Interestingly, the next "Venom" movie could be the ultimate decider as it might introduce the face-off between Spider-Man and Venom. The post-credit scenes of both movies also indicate the face-off between these two comic book archnemesis. ## Stay tuned...

'Spider-Man: No Way Home' Eyeing Top 3 Finish At The Domestic Box Office

Los Angeles, January 23 - Marvel/Sony Pictures' "Spider-Man: No Way Home" is all set to regain its number 1 position at the domestic box office this weekend, after losing the top spot to "Scream" last weekend. ## The Tom Holland-fronted is projected to earn around $14 million in its 6th weekend and is likely to edge over slasher sequel "Scream". At present, "No Way Home" is the fourth highest-grossing film in the history of the domestic box office (North America). It is currently the 8th highest-grossing film of all time at the worldwide box office, that too without China, which is the biggest movie market in the world. ## Stay tuned...

Johnny Depp Cast To Play Disgraced King Louis XV In French Actress-Director's Upcoming Film

Los Angeles, January 23 - Johnny Depp might still be facing tough times in Hollywood, but the Pirates of the Caribbean star has lined up his next project in France. Depp will star as French king Louis XV in the next film directed by French Cesar-winning actress and director Maiwenn.## The yet-untitled film will be shot for three months on location across Parisian landmarks, mainly at the Versailles Palace. The plot of the period drama is being kept under wraps. Paris-based Why Not Productions (A Prophet) are producing this film while Wild Bunch International is handling worldwide sales and will introduce the project to buyers at next month's European Film Market in Berlin, reports 'THR'.## Louis XV, also known as Louis the Beloved, ruled as King of France for 59 years, from 1715, when he succeeded his great-grandfather Louis XIV at the age of five, to his death in 1774. Despite his nickname, Louis XV's reign ended in disgrace, with the king accused of debauchery and corruption, a legacy he passed on to his grandson and successor Louis XVI, who was beheaded after the French Revolution.## It will be Depp's first film since Andrew Levitas's "Minamata" (2020), a film about war photographer W. Eugene Smith. Depp has been accused by his ex-wife Amber Heard of domestic violence, as a result, Warner Bros. dropped him from the third installment of their Fantastic Beasts franchise, replacing Depp with Mads Mikkelsen. The three-time Oscar nominee, however, hasn't faced much of a backlash in Europe.## The period movie will mark a departure for Maiwenn, whose films are all contemporary and often personal. Her film 'Mon Roi' earned its star Emmanuelle Bercot the best actress award at Cannes in 2015; earlier, her 2011 drama 'Polisse' won the Cannes jury prize.## Stay tuned...
