Ana de Armas Explains Why There's No Need For Female James Bond

Los Angeles, July 20 - Daniel Craig has bid adieu to the iconic James Bond character with the release of 2021's James Bond: No Time to Die, and the search for a new actor to play this role is still on. In this process, there have been discussions over a female to play James Bond in the near future if not immediately. ## Ana de Armas, who also starred in last year's "No Time to Die" as Paloma, a CIA agent assisting Bond, however, believes that there is no need for a female James Bond and she has explained her reasons for the same. Reportedly, the creators of the movie have been looking out for the opposite sex as a replacement for Daniel's Bond character.## Speaking to The Sun, the 34-year-old actress noted, "There's no need for a female Bond. There shouldn't be any need to steal someone else's character, you know, to take over". ## While talking about Bond's role who is depicted as a misogynist, the "Deep Water" star added, "This is a novel, and it leads into this James Bond world and this fantasy of that universe where he's at. What I would like is that the female roles in the Bond films, even though Bond will continue to be a man, are brought to life in a different way".## "Women are given a more substantial part and recognition. That's what I think is more interesting than flipping things", she explained.## Ana de Armas, meanwhile, can be seen in Russo Brothers' "The Gray Man". It also stars Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, Dhanush, and Julia Butters, among others in key roles. The movie is currently playing in theaters and will start streaming on Netflix on July 22. ## Stay tuned...

At Last Daniel Craig Talks About His James Bond Ending In 'No Time To Die'

Mumbai, January 31 - The No Time To Die ending was pretty seismic for the franchise. We saw, for the very first time, James Bond die on screen. Now, Daniel Craig has finally spilled on what his Bond's final moments meant to him and revealed the idea to kill off the iconic spy first popped into his head while filming 2006's Casino Royale.## "I had this idea, I wanted to kill him off a long time ago – in Casino Royale – for all sorts of reasons," Craig said while talking to Javier Bardem, who previously played the villain Raoul Silva in Skyfall, for Variety (via ScreenRant). ## "One, purely egotistical. I feel like I needed to end what I did on it. I would be only satisfied if I could walk away and there was nowhere else for that to go, that someone else would have to come along and invent something completely different. But also because I thought that was a good way for it to continue, and I knew that the only way to make it work was that it had to be based on love, and every time that we've gone emotionally into this, it pays back every time.## Where exactly the James Bond series goes from here remains to be seen. There are already countless names in the hat to take over as the next James Bond – click that link for the biggest actors in contention – while other ideas have circulated online for how the franchise may continue. We have a debrief on what could possibly be next for James Bond, while we also previously spoke to Tom Holland about his pitch for a young James Bond film – however, that later turned into the Uncharted movie.## Stay tuned...

Los Angeles, Jan 21 (IANS) Hollywood star Idris Elba is still in contention to be the next James Bond. Daniel Craig doesn't want James Bond to be streamed

Los Angeles, Dec 25 (IANS) Hollywood star Daniel Craig has urged people not to stream James Bond films because "event movies" deserve to be seen on a big cinema screen. ## Craig said: "One of the greatest things that's happened is we got this movie into the cinema. ## "That's where Bond movies should be. They don't look so good on a phone. They look great on an Imax screen. It looks great on a 30ft screen. ## "And they are family events. It gets the family out. As long as there's event movies like this then cinemas got a chance of surviving." ## While Daniel's Bond successor has yet to be announced, the 'Knives Out' star has offered some tips for whoever takes over as the suave spy, reports femalefirst.co.uk. ## He told The Sun newspaper: "There's a couple things I'd say. One is don't be s***. I would say you have to grab it and make it your own." ## For the new Bond, Craig thinks the franchise is in a "good place" and he believes there are still a lot of good stories to be told. ## He added: "I hope I've left it in a good place and I hope the next person can just make it fly. It's an amazing franchise. I still think there's a lot of stories to tell." ## He recently shared that he thought it was "very satisfying" that Bond was apparently killed at the end of 'No Time To Die' after he sacrificed himself to save partner Madeleine (Lea Seydoux) and his daughter Mathilde (Lisa-Dorah Sonnet). ## Reflection on the dramatic finale, he said: "There were lots of different ideas that came and went and some of it stuck. The through line of this is family (and) love, plus the fact we had an end so it was about hanging the film off that." ## Stay Tuned To Sacnilk For More Such Updates.

Box Office: James Bond 'No Time To Die' Storms Past $300M Worldwide; 'Shang-Chi' Crosses $400M Globally

Mumbai, October 10 - James Bond "No Time To Die" opened with $56 million at the North America box office, very much in line with the industry's early box office projection of $55M-$60M. Daniel Craig's final outing as 007, the movie scored the fifth-best domestic opening during the covid-19 pandemic. ## The pre-ticket sales of "No Time To Die" had better than "Venom - Let There Be Carnage" and the Hollywood industry insider had hoped to cross $60 million in its domestic launch. However, it was always going to be an uphill task for the movie as unlike the recent Hollywood pics, the Bond movie has always been fueled in large part by moviegoers 35 and older. ## It was still a good start for the Bond pic as recent reports suggest that the movie-going confidence is getting back among the older audiences, thanks to the rapid vaccination against the virus. According to The Hollywood Reporter, 57 percent of ticket buyers were over the age of 35, including 36 percent over 45 years old. The male audience is turning into large numbers as 64 percent of ticket buyers are male. ## Meanwhile, despite the above par opening domestic weekend, "No Time To Die" continues to score big in the international market. The Bond pic stormed past $300 million worldwide after grossing an estimated $89.5M internationally in the second weekend, taking its total overseas collection to $257M. The total global box office of No Time To Die stands at $313 million, without China, where the movie is scheduled to debut on October 29.## On the other hand, Marvel Studios' "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Three Rings" has crossed $400 million worldwide and becomes the third Hollywood pic to achieve the milestone during the pandemic. The Simu Liu-fronted pic stands at $401.6 million globally, including $212.5 million domestically and $189.1 million overseas. ## "Shang-Chi" is the only film to reach $200 million at the North American box office during the 18-months of covid-19. It also surpassed fellow Marvel movie "Black Widow" to go past $400M worldwide. Universal Pictures' "Fast & Furious 9" is the highest grosser Hollywood film worldwide with $717M followed by Warner Bros.' "Godzilla vs Kong" which earned $468M. ## Stay tuned...

Box Office: James Bond 'No Time To Die' Takes The Best Start At BO For A Bond Movie

Los Angeles, October 8 - Daniel Craig's swan song James Bond "No Time To Die" is all set for a very good opening weekend at the domestic box office after taking the biggest start for a Bond film ever. The United Artist Releasing/MGM/Eon's film off to $6.3 million from Thursday box office previews that began at 4 p.m. ## The Thursday previews box office collection for "No Time To Die" is best for a Bond film, 19% ahead of Spectre's $5.25M, and also exceeds the preview nights of previous Daniel Craig 007 movies Skyfall ($4.6M off midnight shows) and Quantum of Solace ($2.5M off 8 p.m. showtimes).## "No Time To Die" Thursday previews are lower than the previews Hollywood pic "Shang-Chi" ($8.8M), "Venom 2" ($11.6M), "Black Widow" ($13.2M). However, the audience for Bond films is different from all these movies, as Bond is dependent on older adult audiences, and should they show up this weekend, the pic will over-index.## The 25th Bond has conservatively estimated to earn $55M-$60M in the opening domestic weekend, but exhibitors have set over $70M estimate for the film and over $150M worldwide for its second global weekend. ## The advance ticket sales for "No Time To Die" on Fandango already are ahead of Venom - Let There Be Carnage, and previous Bond films Spectre ($70.4M), Quantum of Solace ($67.5M), and Casino Royale ($40.8M). The overseas box office collection for the film is estimated to be around $150M to date. ## Stay tuned...
