Apart from the returning cast of Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Stephen Lang, Sigourney Weaver, and Joel David Moore, among others, the movie will feature David Thewlis and Oona Chaplin, portraying new characters. ## Oona Chaplin will portray Varang, the Na'vi leader of a volcano-dwelling "Ash People" clan. James Cameron Hits Out At Christopher Nolan's Oscar-Winning Film 'Oppenheimer'; Here Is Why

Los Angeles, June 30 - Legendary Hollywood director James Cameron has hit out at acclaimed director Christopher Nolan for his 2023 epic biographical thriller Oppenheimer, which has been hailed as one of the best films of the 21st century. The movie is based on the life of J. Robert Oppenheimer, the American theoretical physicist who helped develop the first nuclear weapons during World War II. ## Oppenheimer was declared the best movie at the 96th Academy Awards, in which it won 7 Oscars, including Best Picture. Cameron, however, has criticised Nolan for not depicting the aftermath of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki nuclear bombing, which killed over 250,000 people. While Cameron acknowledged Nolan's filmmaking, he felt disappointed that Oppenheimer didn't depict the aftermath of the atomic bombing. ## During an interview with Deadline, the "Avatar" director said, "Yeah, it's interesting what he stayed away from. Look, I love the filmmaking, but I did feel that it was a bit of a moral cop-out. Because it's not like Oppenheimer didn't know the effects. He's got one brief scene in the film where we see — and I don't like to criticise another filmmaker's film – but there's only one brief moment where he sees some charred bodies in the audience, and then the film goes on to show how it deeply moved him. But I felt that it dodged the subject". ## Meanwhile, James Cameron himself is working on a film based on the Hiroshima bombing titled Ghosts of Hiroshima, which tells the story from those on the business end of the unimaginably destructive blasts that turned Japan into a hell-scape and killed hundreds of people and much more over time as the radiation ravaged the bodies of survivors. ## While Nolan's "Oppenheimer" grossed nearly $1 billion at the global box office, Cameron feels that "Ghosts of Hiroshima" could be his lowest-grossing film because of the subject matter, as he will be showing the aftermath of the atomic bombing. Cameron's film will be based on Charles Pellegrino's book Ghosts of Hiroshima, which comes out August 5 from Blackstone Publishing and The Story Factory. ## Interestingly, "Ghosts of Hiroshima" will be Cameron's first film other than the Avatar movies since "Titanic", which was released more than 2 and a half decades ago in 1997. Mumbai, March 17 - Chinese mega-blockbuster Ne Zha 2 is showing no signs of slowing down and is continuing to score big at the China and global box office. The movie had already crossed $2 billion and now become the 5th biggest grosser ever worldwide. ## Made on a budget of $80 million, the animated blockbuster has overtaken Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($2.07 billion) to climb the 5th spot among the all-time biggest grossers globally. The movie has grossed $2.08+ billion, including $2.05 billion in China alone through Sunday (March 16).## The sequel is projected to finish its box office run with $2.10 billion in the home market. It is already the highest-grossing animated movie ever worldwide and the highest-grossing title in a single market. No other movie has ever topped $1 billion in a single market before with The Force Awakens being the previous biggest ($936 million in North America). ## James Cameron's Avatar continues to be the number 1 film worldwide with $2.92 billion, followed by Avengers: Endgame ($2.79 billion), Avatar: The Way of Water ($2.32 billion) and Titanic ($2.25 billion) as the next three, respectively. James Cameron's 'Avatar: Fire And Ash' To Be The Longest Film In The Franchise

Los Angeles, March 9 - James Cameron's sci-fi epic Avatar: The Way of Water is among the longest films ever with a theatrical runtime of 3 hours and 12 minutes. Well, the maverick filmmaker seems to be in no mood to make shorter films anymore as his next is even longer. ## The third Avatar instalment - Avatar: Fire And Ash is set to be longer than The Way of Water, confirmed by the director himself. While the exact runtime is not revealed yet, Cameron revealed in an interview with Empire magazine that the next film will be a bit longer. ## The Avatar films are anyway longer than most of the Hollywood titles as the first film of the franchise, released in 2009, was 2 hours and 58 minutes long and is the highest-grossing film in the history of the worldwide box office while The Way of Water holds the record for third biggest grosser ever.## One can't expect less when it comes to Avatar movies and, unsurprisingly, the expectations are high from Fire And Ash which debuts in cinemas worldwide later this year in December. Box Office: 'Interstellar' Becomes The Biggest Hollywood Re-Release Grosser In India

Mumbai, February 13 - Legendary director Christopher Nolan's epic sci-fi adventure Interstellar re-release has proved to be a masterstroke for Warner Bros. Pictures as the movie has become the highest-grossing Hollywood re-release grosser at the Indian box office. ## The film, starring Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway, was re-released in Indian cinemas on February 7 for a limited period of just 7 days. This short run proved to be enough for the movie to beat the maverick director James Cameron's all-time great Titanic 3D re-release gross collection of 18 crores. ## In the 6 days so far, Interstellar has grossed approximately 18+ crores, making it the number 1 Hollywood repeat title in India. In its original release back in 2014, the film was a big success with a gross collection of around 42 crores or $6.85 million (without adjusting to inflation), according to Box Office Mojo. ## At the worldwide box office, Interstellar has grossed $759.4 million, including $681 million in its original run. Akshay Kumar's 'Welcome 3' Eyes A Major Box Office Clash

Mumbai, January 9 - Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar is gearing up for another busy year with multiple films of his lined up for release in 2025. The actor is working on some of the most-anticipated Bollywood films and one of them is the third instalment of the iconic comedy entertainer franchise Welcome. ## Directed by Farhad Samji, Welcome To The Jungle has been in production since last year and as per the latest update, 75% of the total shoot has been completed and the remaining portions are expected to be wrapped by June this year. According to the report by Pinkvilla, Welcome 3 is heading for a Christmas 2025 release. ## The report states that the team has locked a nearly 2-hour edit of the entire footage shot to date and the stakeholders are extremely happy with everything that they have seen on the edit table so far. Superstar Yash's 'Toxic' To Release In December 2025

Mumbai, December 21 - The Indian box office once again is set to be on fire in December 2025 as superstar Yash-fronted gangster action drama Toxic is more or less confirmed to hit the big screen during the month. There is James Cameron's Avatar 3 already slated to release. ## Toxic, directed by National Award-winning director Geethu Mohandas, is currently on floors. It was originally announced for an April 2025 release but due to the delay in production, the film was pushed back. According to the latest report by Pinkvilla, the makers are now aiming to release it in December while the exact date will be locked soon. ## Yash who has also produced the film with KVN Productions, is reportedly in talks with 20th Century Fox for overseas distribution. "The discussions are in very nascent stages but the intent is to make Toxic a global project. Yash strongly believes that the story-telling pattern and visuals of Toxic are right up there with international projects and is exploring the possibilities of partnering with a global giant for a massive release", reports Pinkvilla. ## Meanwhile, Yash also has a mega project Ramayana in the production stage. Mumbai, September 24 - After finishing as a flop in its original run, folk horror thriller Tumbbad has turned things around big time in its re-release run to not only emerge a box office hit but also become the biggest re-release grosser at the Indian box office.## Directed by Rahi Anil Barve, Tumbbad has been on a fantastic repeat run since its re-launch on September 13. The movie hasn't dropped below the 1 crore mark in 11 days so far while in its original run, it crossed the 1 crore mark only two times before finishing its run with a 13.50 crore net collection. ## In 11 days of its re-release so far, Tumbbad has grossed approximately 25.75 crores (21.75 crores net) and sometime during its 12th day, it will cross Thalapathy Vijay's Ghilli (26 crores gross approx.) to become the biggest re-release grosser in India in the 21st century. ## As said, Tumbbad and Ghill are the only two movies to cross the 20 crore gross mark in their repeat runs at the Indian box office. James Cameron Sets His Next Directorial Other Than 'Avatar' Franchise

Mumbai, September 17 - James Cameron has been busy with the epic sci-fi Avatar franchise since 1997 and is currently directing the third instalment of this blockbuster franchise which is scheduled to hit the big screen on December 20, 2025. ## While there are, at least, two more Avatar films after Avatar 3, Cameron has set his next directorial project other than Avatar. According to Variety, the maverick filmmaker has purchased the rights to Charles Pellegrino's book "Ghosts of Hiroshima", which will be published by Blackstone Publishing in August 2025.## Cameron will combine and adapt Ghosts and Pellegrino's 2015 book Last Train From Hiroshima into a single film, which he will shoot when Avatar production allows. ## The filmmaker's new film will be titled, Last Train from Hiroshima which will tell the true story of a Japanese man during World War II who survived two atomic bombings: after living through the explosion in Hiroshima, he took a train to Nagasaki, enduring another blast there. ## It will be Cameron's first non-Avatar movie in more than 2 and a half decades as a director since he directed Titanic in 1997. Before Titanic, which is the 4th highest-grossing film of all time, Cameron directed six movies after making his directorial debut in 1982 with Piranha II: The Spawning. ## Cameron has been a box office monster as his last three directed films went on to gross over $2 billion each globally and are currently among the 4 highest-grossing movies of all time with Avatar being the biggest grosser ($2.92 billion). Mumbai, August 10 - Maverick filmmaker James Cameron's sci-fi epic Avatar 3 has unveiled its official title on Friday during the D23 expo. The first two movies in the franchise have already been etched in the history books with monstrous box office performances.## During the D23 event, James Cameron along with stars Zoe Saldaña and Sam Worthington revealed that the third Avatar blockbuster will be titled Avatar: Fire and Ash, setting the stage for the things unfold in Pandora. ## "You'll see a lot more pandora that you never saw before. It's an insane adventure and a feast for the eyes, but it's also got very high emotional stakes, more than ever before. Russo Brothers In Talks To Direct Next Two Avengers Movies

Mumbai, July 18 - In a massive but pleasant surprise, Joe and Anthony Russo, famously known as the Russo brothers, are in talks to return to the MCU to helm the next two Avengers movies, according to the report by The Hollywood Reporter.## It is to be noted that Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton was originally set to direct Avengers 5 but he backed out last year after the movie faced major hurdles due to the controversy surrounding actor Jonathan Majors who was to play the centre role as the main villain, Kang.## Marvel Studios has been searching for directors to oversee the fifth and sixth Avengers movies for a long time. The studio had earlier reportedly reached out to Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy for the fifth Avengers movie, but he had turned the offer down in the past. ## The talks with the Russo Brothers are in the early stages and if they agree, it will mark a homecoming for the director duo who once was the biggest IP of Marvel. They have directed four of Marvel's biggest movies, Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), followed by Captain America: Civil War (2016), Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019). ## The four Marvel movies directed by Russos generated a combined gross of $6.68+ billion, including Endgame ($2.79 billion) as the second highest-grossing movie ever at the worldwide box office behind only James Cameron's Avatar with $2.92 billion. ## Meanwhile, the fifth Avengers movie, scheduled to be released on 1 May 2026, was originally titled Avengers: Kang Dynasty and was to star Jonathan Majors as time-traveling villain Kang.
