Vidyut Jammwal To Make Hollywood Debut With Legendary's Live-Action 'Street Fighter' movie

Mumbai, July 15 - India's action star Vidyut Jammwal is set for his Hollywood debut with Legendary Pictures' live-action Street Fighter movie, based on the video games from Capcom, according to the report by Deadline. ## Vidyut Jammwal, who has been deliberate about the project, will play the role of Dhalsim, a yogi with fire-spitting abilities — a fundamentally peaceful man who fights to support his family. The character was first introduced in Street Fighter II in 1991. ## The project is currently in development by Legendary and distributed by Sony Pictures. The film will be directed by Kitao Sakurai. Earlier, YouTuber twins Danny and Michael Philippou of the channel RackaRacka were in talks to direct the film, but later dropped out of the movie due to other commitments. ## As has already been announced, Street Fighter cast will also include Andrew Koji as Ryu, Noah Centineo as Ken, Callina Liang as Chun-Li, David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, Cody Rhodes as Guile, Jason Momoa as Blanka, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson as Balrog, Orville Peck as Vega, Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki, Roman Reigns as Akuma, and Hirooki Goto as E. Honda. ## The movie was originally announced for a March 20, 2026, release, but has now been removed from the release schedule. The film is intended to be a spin-off from Shazam! Black Adam first appeared as a one-time villain for the first issue of Fawcett Comics' The Marvel Family comic book (December 1945). ## However, Black Adam was revived as a recurring character after DC Comics first licensed and then acquired the Fawcett characters and began publishing Shazam (formerly Captain Marvel) Family stories under the title Shazam! in the 1970s. ## Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson plays the title role of Black Adam who, going by trailer, has to choose between being the savior and destroyer of mankind. It also stars Aldis Hodge, Noah Centineo, Sarah Shahi, Marwan Kenzari, Quintessa Swindell, Bodhi Sabongui, and Pierce Brosnan.## Jaume Collet-Serra has directed this film which is scheduled to release on October 21, 2022.
