Pawan Kalyan's OG Director Sujeeth Joins SS Rajamouli, Prashanth Neel, and Lokesh Kanagaraj In The Back-To-Back 100 Crore Openers

BY SACNILK

Hyderabad, September 25 - Scoring 100 crore worldwide on the very first day is one of the toughest milestones in Indian cinema. Though the milestone is now not out of reach, only a handful of films have achieved that, and only 4 directors have managed to achieve this back-to-back. Director Sujeeth, who has patiently worked on superstar Pawan Kalyan's They Call Him OG after Prabhas-fronted Saaho, has joined the elite league of SS Rajamouli, Prashanth Neel, and Lokesh Kanagaraj in delivering back-to-back 100 crores openers at the worldwide box office. 1. SS Rajamouli – Baahubali 2 (2017), RRR (2022) The pioneer of pan-Indian blockbusters, Rajamouli redefined the Indian box office. Baahubali 2 shocked the trade with an earth-shattering 200+ crore day one, followed by RRR, which repeated the magic with another 200 crore+ worldwide opening. He is the only Indian director to achieve this feat. 2. Prashanth Neel – KGF Chapter 2 (2022), Salaar (2023) Neel proved his mettle as a mass-action storyteller with Kannada superstar Yash-fronted KGF: Chapter 2 and cemented it with Pan-India superstar Prabhas-fronted Salaar Part 1: Ceasefire. Both films crossed 150+ crore globally on day one, making him one of the few to achieve this consistency. 3. Lokesh Kanagaraj – Leo (2023), Coolie (2025) Lokesh has become the face of Tamil cinema's new-age mass entertainers. After Thalapathy Vijay's Leo scored a 140 crore+ opening, the mavrick filmmaker followed it up with superstar Rajinikanth's Coolie, which became the first Tamil movie to take the opening of 150+ crores worldwide. 4. Sujeeth – Saaho (2019), They Call Him OG (2025) Sujeeth surprised the industry with Prabhas-starrer action thriller Saaho's 125+ crore global debut and has now repeated the feat with superstar Pawan Kalyan's gangster action thriller They Call Him OG. From Dangal To Lokah: The Highest-Grossing Films Across Six Major Indian Film Industries

BY SACNILK

Mumbai, September 20 - The Indian cinema is the most diverse in the world with its vast landscape of languages and cultures, each with its own set of superstars, styles, and record-breaking blockbusters. Over the years, the country has delivered rich results at the box office, not just with the mainstream Hindi cinema, but also with regional cinema, where films across different genres unlocked new potential. As the Indian cinema continues to evolve and come closer than ever, there have been certain films which have not only ruled their regional box office but also established themselves as benchmarks for their respective industries. Here's a look at the current all-time biggest hits from six major Indian film industries, which have set benchmarks for their other films to achieve. Hindi Cinema – Dangal (2016) Aamir Khan's sports drama Dangal (2016) remains the undisputed king of not just Bollywood, but of Indian cinema. With a staggering 2070 crore worldwide gross, the wrestling drama became a global sensation, largely due to its phenomenal run in China, which contributed over 60% to its total collection. Years later, no Indian film has managed to surpass its worldwide record. Telugu Cinema – Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017) While Dangal remains the biggest Indian blockbuster, it was director S.S. Rajamouli's magnum opus Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017) that changed the game for Indian cinema. Starring Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, and Anushka Shetty, the epic fantasy collected 1788 crore worldwide and showcased the true potential of Telugu films and also broke the language barrier to emerge as a pan-India spectacle, with a large contribution from the Hindi language. Kannada Cinema – KGF Chapter 2 (2022) Kannada cinema was largely limited to its home state before the Yash-fronted KGF franchise changed the game for it. And it was KGF Chapter 2 (2022) that proved that Kannada cinema could dominate globally. With its raw action, style, and storytelling, the film amassed an extraordinary 1230 crore worldwide, cementing itself as the industry's biggest blockbuster to date. Tamil Cinema – 2.0 (2018) The Tamil film industry has failed to match its fellow Southern industries in terms of potential, but it has seen a continuous rise over the last few years. However, despite multiple 500 crores blockbusters, it is Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar's sci-fi extravaganza 2.0 (2018), directed by Shankar, which is still the biggest Tamil grosser to date. The film, packed with cutting-edge VFX, grossed ₹691 crore worldwide. Malayalam Cinema – Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra (2025) The Malayalam cinema has been on an unreal rise for the last few years. From being limited to the regional barrier to breaking into the Pan-India market, the industry has made sure that it competes with the giants of Indian cinema. And it can't be a prouder moment for the industry that a female-led film is leading the charge. Kalyani Priyadarshan's superhero saga Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, with a 267+ crore worldwide gross, has become the industry's highest-grossing film of all time, surpassing big names like Mohanlal's Empuraan. Punjabi Cinema – Jatt & Juliet 3 (2024) The Punjabi film industry has been struggling to deliver results at the box office due to various reasons. It has scored only two 100 crores grossers, with Diljit Dosanjh and Neeru Bajwa's romantic comedy Jatt & Juliet 3 (2024) being the biggest of them. It became the second-ever Punjabi movie, after Carry On Jatta 3 (2023), to cross the 100 crore milestone, grossing 102.60 crore worldwide. Stay tuned...

Director Nag Ashwin Shares A Cryptic Post After Deepika Padukone's Exit From Prabhas' Kalki 2898 AD Sequel

BY SACNILK

Hyderabad, September 19 - Director Nag Ashwin has shared a cryptic post, seemingly targeting Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone, after she was dropped from the sequel to Prabhas-fronted Kalki 2898 AD, following her allegedly over-the-top demands. The news of Deepika's departure came as a shock to her fans, but also not a surprise, given how things have gone in recent times. Meanwhile, Nag Ashwin has reacted to the development. The filmmaker took to Instagram and re-shared a video of Krishna's entry scene from Kalki, 2898 AD, captioning it, "You can't change what happened, but you can choose what happens next." Ashwin's cryptic story quickly went viral across social media platforms, with many speculating that it was aimed at Deepika. The users assume that the makers are clearly not happy with Deepika and are angry. But the users also point out that Nag Ashwin should not use code language to react to the same, and directly say things. Nonetheless, it was a big opportunity for Deepika to score limelight as her character will be the major highlight in Kalki 2, which is otherwise filled with star-studded. The actress essayed the role of Sumati, a pregnant lab subject of Project K and the prophesied mother of Kalki, in the 2023 hit Kalki 2898 AD. The shooting timeline of Kalki 2 is not revealed yet, but the majority of the shoot will take place next year. Some reports say it will commence in October this year with Kamal Haasan, but Prabhas and the rest of the team will join early next year. Stay tuned...

Reason Behind Deepika Padukone's Exit From Prabhas' Kalki 2898 AD Revealed

BY SACNILK

Hyderabad, September 18 - Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone is once again the media headline for the wrong reasons. The actress has been dropped from Prabhas-fronted highly-awaited epic sci-fi Kalki 2, which is scheduled to go on floors next year. The makers issued a statement announcing the actress's departure from the film. While the makers didn't reveal the clear reasons, the statement seemingly addressed the lack of commitment by the actress towards the film. Deepika will now be replaced by another actress, who is yet to be confirmed. Meanwhile, according to the report by Bollywood Hungama, the unreasonable demands of the Pathaan actress were the reason has been dropped from the film. It is said that Deepika demanded a 25% increment on the acting fees she was paid for the first part of the film. She also demanded only 7 hours of work a day. Given that Kalki 2898 AD is a VFX-heavy film, such short shoots were likely to shoot up the budget by a reasonable amount. The Bollywood Hungama report further stressed that the producers were ready to provide a luxury vanity to Deepika, in return for longer shoot hours, and also tried to negotiate finances, given that even Prabhas had not asked for an increment in fees, but she and her team refused to adjust on either. Apart from the aforementioned demands, Deepika also demanded a five-star accommodation for her team, which reportedly consists of 25 people. These never-ending demands of the actress left the producer with no choice but to drop her and replace her with someone else. This is not the first time Deepika has been in the news for such invalid demands. She recently left Prabhas-fronted Spirit, which is scheduled to go on floors in the next couple of months. It is said that director Sandeep Reddy Vanga was shocked to see the lack of professionalism of the actress, and he also seemingly addressed the same on social media. Stay tuned...

Vyjayanthi Films took to social media to announce that Deepika Padukone will not be part of Kalki 2. The exact reason for her departure is not revealed yet, but by the looks of the studio's note, it seems the actress was not fully committed to the film, which forced the makers to drop her. Despite the long journey of making the first film, we were unable to find a partnership. And a film like @Kalki2898AD deserves that commitment and much more", the studio said in the statement. Spirit Runtime Update: Prabhas' Actioner Will Be Shorter Than Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Arjun Reddy and Animal

BY SACNILK

Hyderabad, September 6 – Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who is known for his intense, emotionally charged dramas like blockbusters Arjun Reddy, Kabir Singh, and Animal, has revealed the potential theatrical runtime of his highly-awaited film Spirit starring pan-India superstar Prabhas. In a recent interaction, Vanga hinted that Spirit could be his shortest film to date in terms of runtime. During a talk show called Jayammu Nischayammu Raa on Zee5, SRV was asked about what the theatrical runtime of Spirit would be by host Jagapathi Babu. The blockbuster director, who is teaming up with Prabhas for the first time, revealed that he would make sure that the runtime remains below 3 hours. If this happens, it will probably be his shortest film, even shorter than Shahid Kapoor-fronted Kabir Singh. This is a surprising revelation considering the director's past works, which are known for their extended screen time, layered storytelling, and detailed character arcs. Kabir Singh (2019) was 172 minutes (2 hours and 52 minutes) long, while Vanga's other two movies, Arjun Reddy and Animal, clocked over 3 hours of runtime. Apart from runtime, SRV also revealed that for Spirit, 70% of the music is already done, as he feels that it is easier to shoot a film when the BGM is playing in the background, as we can easily tell when to cut. "During Kabir Singh, I realised that if the RR is done before the shoot begins, then it makes shooting much easier. I didn’t have those privileges during Arjun Reddy, but for Animal, 80% of the RR was done before the shoot itself," he said. The film marks Vanga's first collaboration with Prabhas, who will be seen playing a powerful cop in this high-voltage action drama. Given Prabhas' massive fan base and Vanga's reputation for hard-hitting, controversial storytelling, expectations are sky-high for Spirit, which is being mounted on a massive scale. Produced by Bhushan Kumar's T-Series and Vanga's Bhadrakali Pictures, Spirit is one of the most anticipated Indian films, promising a blend of action, emotion, and Vanga's signature intensity. With the director now hinting at a sharper runtime, fans are curious to see how this change in storytelling style translates on the big screen. The film, which has Tripti Dimri as the female lead as she reunites with Vanga after Animal, is currently in the pre-production stage and is expected to go on floors soon. It is expected to be released by late 2026 in multiple Indian and international languages. Stay tuned...

BY SACNILK

Chennai, August 29 - Superstar Rajinikanth led his gangster action drama Coolie crawl past the 500 crores mark at the worldwide box office, making it only the 4th Tamil film ever to achieve the milestone. The movie had to battle its way to reach the coveted box office mark, despite the record start. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Coolie joins Rajinikanth's own blockbusters - 2 Point 0 and Jailer, along with Thalapathy Vijay's Leo - to emerge as the 4th Tamil title to make its way into the 500 crores club globally. 2 Point 0 remains the biggest grosser with around 700 crores, as Coolie set to finish at 4, behind Jailer (605 crores), and Leo (606 crores). While Coolie brings in the lures for Tamil cinema, it also expands the South Indian cinema's 500 crores club grossers list to 11. This has been dominated by the Telugu film industry with 6 titles in the list, while Kannada has one in the form of Yash-fronted KGF: Chapter 2. SS Rajamouli's groundbreaking blockbuster, Baahubali 2 (2017), remains the biggest South Indian grosser at the worldwide box office with close to 1800 crores gross. It was also the first South Indian blockbuster to become the 1000 crores gross, while its predecessor, Baahubali - The Beginning, was the first to breach the milestone of 500 crores gross in 2015. Overall, Coolie is the 27th Indian film of all time to reach the landmark of 500 crores gross worldwide. The list is dominated by Bollywood with 16 titles, including Aamir Khan's sports drama Dangal, which is the highest-grossing Indian film ever with over 2000 crores collection. Mark the Calendar! Prabhas' Much-Awaited The Raja Saab Gets Official Release Date

BY SACNILK

Hyderabad, August 6 - Pan-India superstar Prabhas-fronted romantic horror-comedy The Raja Saab is among the most-anticipated Indian movies. Directed by Maruthi, the movie has officially been postponed from December 5, 2025, as was already reportedly in the media. Produced by People Media Factory, the movie will now be hitting the big screens on January 9, 2026, during the Sankranthi festival weekend. The makers officially confirmed the release date during the trailer launch event of Teja Sajja's Mirai, which is produced by the same team. With The Raja Saab confirming to come on Sankranthi, this marks his first film in 18 years, since Yogi (2019), to release during this lucrative holiday period. At the moment, the film is clashing with megastar Chiranjeevi's Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu, which was announced for Sankranthi 2026, along with Thalapathy Vijay's Jana Nayagan. Prabhas is undoubtedly one of the most bankable Pan-India stars, who can do wonders at the box office if the film is good enough, and considering this, the makers have given the best chance to the film to explode at the box office as Sankranthi is a major holiday period for the box office. During a recent interview, producer TG Vishwa Prasad hinted that they are planning to release the movie on January 9, 2026, while mentioning that Bollywood buyers were insisting on sticking with the December 5, 2025, release. The producer added that a few songs and some patchwork are yet to be completed as they are expecting to wrap the film by October. He also revealed that director Maruthi has shot raw footage of 4 hours and 30 minutes, and the editing team is working on chopping and editing it down to about 2 hours and 45 minutes. It can be said that the final runtime of The Raja Saab will be around 165 minutes, and it might get stretched to around 3 hours. Produced by People Media Factory and IVY Entertainment, the film's plot revolves around a young man who sets his eyes on his ancestral property to ease him out of a cash crunch. It stars Prabhas in the lead role, alongside Sanjay Dutt, Nidhhi Agerwal, Malavika Mohanan (in her Telugu film debut), and Riddhi Kumar. Stay tuned...

Top 10 Biggest Indian Openers At The Worldwide Box Office: Pawan Kalyan's They Call Him OG Takes 8th Spot

BY SACNILK

Chennai, September 27 - In the opening day box office battle, superstar Pawan Kalyan has officially entered the all-time top 10 list with his latest blockbuster They Call Him OG, directed by Sujeeth. Released on September 25, the gangster action drama stormed the global box office with one of the biggest openings for an Indian film, cementing Power Star's dominance even in the era of pan-India cinema. The race for the biggest Indian opener has grown fierce over the years. It all began with SS Rajamouli's Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017), which not only redefined Indian box office history but also became the first Indian film to cross 100 crore and 200 crore worldwide on day one. The director later broke his own record with RRR (2022), which took global openings to another level. In 2024, Indian cinema scaled unprecedented heights when Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2 – The Rule shook the industry with a 275 crore worldwide opening, almost touching the (still) unthinkable 300 crore mark. While OG didn't break into the top five, it still paved its path to history, delivering the biggest-ever opening for PK and ranking among the Top 10 Biggest Indian Openers of All Time.
