Top 5 Most Successful Captain In IPL History

Indian Premier League has seen so many captains over the last 12 years. Some have been so successful and become the synonym of success while some couldn't make their mark at the biggest stage. It is often said that a captain is as good as a team but sometimes, a good captain makes a team look good with his smart moves during the game.## In IPL, a few captains have been able to change that scenario and have been so successful with even an ordinary team. Now, the question should be raised who is the best captain among them? Well, for that we need to look back at the records.## Here is the list of TOP 5 most successful captain in IPL (accroding to win %, 50+ matches):## 1. MS Dhoni (CSK, RPS) - Mahendra Singh Dhoni doesn't need the second introduction. He is the only captain in IPL to win 100 matches as captain. There are only a few captains in the world who have been as successful as MS Dhoni. He is the only captain in the world who has won T20I World Cup, 50-over World Cup and Champions Trophy as captain and without a doubt has one of the smartest minds in cricket.## Chennai Super Kings has become a brand in the IPL and MS Dhoni is probably the biggest reason for that. He is captaining CSK since the first season (2008) and has led his side winning the title on three occasions while four times CSK has been runner-up in nine seasons they have played. There is no other team being as successful as CSK and Dhoni without a doubt is the main reason for it.## A statical view at his captaincy record in IPL## SpanMatchesWonLostTiedNRWin % 2008-19 174 104 69 0 1 60.11 ## 2. Sachin Tendulkar (MI) - The legend of the game and arguably the greatest batsman after Sir Don Bradman, Sachin Tendulkar is one of only two Indian players who has won player of the tournament award in IPL. He was the first ever captain for Mumbai Indians and captained for three years.## However, Mumbai Indians couldn't win during Tendulkar's captaincy period but he led MI to the finals in 2010 only to lose against Chennai Super Kings. One of the icon players, Sachin Tendulkar was the player of the tournament in 2010.## A statical view at his captaincy record in IPL## SpanMatchesWonLostTiedNRWin % 2008-11 51 30 21 0 0 58.82 ## 3. Rohit Sharma (MI) - Mumbai Indians is probably the only team who has dominated Chennai Super Kings and has been the most successful team since Rohit Sharma has taken the captaincy in 2013. The team has seen some great players like Sachin Tendulkar, Sanath Jayasuriya, Shaun Pollack but they couldn't take the team to glory until Rohit takes the charge.## Since 2013, Mumbai Indians has won three titles in 2013, 2015, and 2017. Rohit Sharma also has similarities of Dhoni who keep his head calm under pressure and that helped him become one of the most successful captains in IPL history.## A statical view at his captaincy record in IPL## SpanMatchesWonLostTiedNRWin % 2013-19 104 60 42 2 0 58.65 ## 4. Shane Warne (RR) - The first ever captain to lift an IPL Trophy, Shane Warne took an ordinary team Rajasthan Royals to glory. A team without star players has its name in the history book. Shane Warne showed the world that even without star players can reach the heights. However, 2008 success is alone standing glory for RR as they could never repeat the same kind of success again.## A statical view at his captaincy record in IPL## SpanMatchesWonLostTiedNRWin % 2008-11 55 30 24 1 0 55.45 ## 5. Gautam Gambir (DD, KKR) - Gautam Gambhir started his IPL career with Delhi Daredevils. And soon become captain after the first season. However, he couldn't be successful with DD as captain. Time changes and he was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders in 2011 and immediately given the captaincy. In his first attempt as KKR captain, he led his side to playoffs.## KKR's 2011 performance was enough to prove Gambhir's potential as captain and didn't take a long time to convert his potential into glory. In 2012 and 2014, Gambhir led KKR to title triumph and became KKR's most loved face. There is no doubt Gambhir has been the Piccaso of KKR's IPL journey.## A statical view at his captaincy record in IPL## SpanMatchesWonLostTiedNRWin % 2009-18 129 71 57 1 0 55.42 ## Note - Data as of 13th May 2019 ## Follow for more...

RR - 5 Players To Watch Out For In IPL 2019

A dream starts to their Indian Premier League who had unknown faces, Rajasthan Royals surprised everybody with the title triumph in the inaugural season. But the fact is it remained the only diamond to their crown. Barring a third-place finish in the 2013 season, Rajasthan Royals have never looked to stick to their winning formula that once was their surprised weapon.## Just like the Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals to have seen dark days when they were banned for two years. But once they back in 2018, a grand return was expected but unlike CSK, they flattered to deceive again. However, RR made it to the playoffs but the absence of Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes did cost them who were the main players to take RR to top four.## Will 2019 be the start of a new chapter for them? Certainly can be. They should take confidence from how they played in the latter part of the tournament in last year and the also the inclusion of Steve Smith who once was their best batsman will be enough to boost their confidence. But we understand that there are five players who will hold the key for Rajasthan Royals.## Here is the list of 5 players to watch out for in IPL 2019 (RR):## 1. Steve Smith (Batsman) - Steve Smith has seen the possibly worst days of a sportsman when he was banned for the one year by Cricket Australia from all the cricket activities after found his involvement in ball-tampering at Newlands against South Africa last year along with David Warner and Camron Bancroft. But now he has returned and will be more hungry to perform at the big stage. It is going to be important not only for RR but Smith as well who will likely be the part of Australia's world cup squad starting later this year. He is surely going to a player to watch out for this season.## A statical view of his IPL career## YearMatchesInningsRunsH.S.10050S.R. 2018 - - - - - - - Overall 69 62 1,703 101 1 5 131.71 ## 2. Rahul Tripathi (Batsman) - Rahul Tripathi was one of the best batsmen for Rising Pune Supergiant in 2017. A classy batsman who can hit the ball hard with ease, Rahul Tripathi is hopeful to play the big role for RR this season. However, barring one or two knocks, he couldn't make his mark last year but the flexibility of him playing at any position makes him a player to watch out for this year IPL.## A statical view of his IPL career## YearMatchesInningsRunsH.S.10050S.R. 2018 12 12 226 80* 0 1 135.32 Overall 26 26 617 93 0 3 142.17 ## 3. Jofra Archer (All-Rounder) - A fiery pacer who can take the bull by the horns with the bat, Jofra Archer is a typical West Indies' all-rounder. Though it is a loss for Windies that he will not represent his own country. The world saw him first in the Big Bash League playing for the Hobart Hurricanes and one is the find of BBL. He made his IPL debut last year and was impressed with the ball. Royals made a mistake by not playing him in the first few matches. But a team is as good as he learns from its mistake, Archer can be the trump card for his side.## A statical view of his IPL career (Batting)## YearMatchesInningsRunsH.S.10050S.R. 2018 10 8 15 8 0 0 71.43 ## Bowling## YearMatchesInningsWicketsBBI5-WicketsEcon 2018 10 10 15 3/22 0 8.37 ## 4. One of the matches last against Mumbai Indian, Gowtham played a blinder of 11-ball 33*. He was ordinary but still, RR showed faith in him by picking again after releasing from the squad. In Rising Pune Supergiant's successful campaign where they lost in the final in 2017, Jaydev Unadkat was the second highest wicket taker of the tournament with 24 wickets.## A statical view of his IPL career## YearMatchesInningsWicketsBBI5-WicketsEcon 2018 15 15 11 - 0 9.65 Overall 62 61 67 5/25 2 8.4 ## Follow for more...

Our strategy wasn't wrong there - Ajinkya Rahane

Rajasthan Royals' journey in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 had been ended after they lost to Kolkata Knight Riders in an eliminator round by 25 runs at packed Eden Gardens, Kolkata on Wednesday (May 23). However, Rajasthan Royal had their chance to win this game especially after they were in the dominating position on 109 for 1 after 14 overs in reply of 170 runs.## Rajasthan Royals hadn't put their foot wrong till the 14 over of their innings. But it was a shame that they could not cross the line despite playing their one of the best games in this IPL.## "Disappointed, especially given how we started, taking 4-5 wickets early. That partnership (Karthik and Gill) and the dropped catch of Russell hurt us. When you get the start like that, you generally look to win the game. I think KKR bowled really well. They know the conditions really well. It was gettable. They were 10-12 runs short. It's important to finish the games and we didn't have partnerships towards the end" ## "When I and Sanju were batting, we were looking to play positively. I told him during the second time that I will go after the bowlers and that you bat through. But unfortunately, he got out. I think overall we played good cricket. Our bowling unit fantastic this season. Need to improve our batting and fielding," said Rahane in the presentation ceremony.## Rajasthan Royals were provided with a solid start by skipper Ajinkya Rahane and Rahul Tripathi. The Duo added 47-runs for the first wicket before Sanju Samson took charge on KKR along with Rahane. But once the second timeout had done, RR start losing their grip over the match. They lost Rahane and Samson in quick succession. With 61 runs required off 35 balls, RR needed someone to play a quick inning. Krishanppa Gowtham could have been that man who had a strike rate of 196.87 in this season. But Heinrich Klaasen walked out instead. The decision backfired RR as Klaasen could score run a ball 18.## "I think if you see, Klaasen is a really good batsman and he did really well in the last game. It is difficult when you get those runs...you try and think what if you had sent Gowtham at that number. We sent Klaasen...yes he tired his best but again KKR bowlers, especially the spinners, were really good," said Rahane in post-match conference.## "I think with our batting line-up, we wanted to go deep. When I and Sanju were batting, we wanted to go deep and if Klaasen can come when they have seven or eight overs left, I think that was a perfect opportunity for him. Unfortunately, we didn't cross the line but I don't think our strategy was wrong there. I think KG's batting position he batted well at number 6 or 7," Rahane offered.## On the other hand, Kolkata Knight Riders now will play against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the second qualifier on Friday, May 25 at the same venue. Both teams will fight to play against Chennai Super Kings in final on May 27 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.## For more updates and news, stay tuned to us.## Thanks for the reading.

We need to be smarter in composing our team-Virat Kohli

Royal Challengers Bangalore became the only second team after Delhi Daredevils to be out from the IPL 2018. They lost to Rajasthan Royals in all important match by 30 runs on May 19. However, Virat Kohli, RCB skipper thinks that their middle did not show enough intent and that resulted in they failed to make it to the playoffs.## Keep in mind, Royal Challengers Bangalore failed to chase down 165 against Rajasthan Royals. Only AB de Villiers showed the required batting nous to handle the tricky conditions on view as the visitors were bowled out for 134.## "Yeah, it was a strange one. We were in a great position. 75 for 1 and the way we bundled out was not ideal. Someone like AB who can hit fours and sixes was knocking around so the others did not support him and apply themselves properly. We needed more smart decision making there. These things should be repeated by 5-6 guys in a row," said Kohli in post-match presentation.## "We wanted to strengthen the middle order which has not happened. It has not been our strength and we need to do that going into the next few seasons. We need to be smarter in composing our team. The responsibility cannot be taken up by only AB de Villiers all the time. He certainly scored runs, but others need to contribute to him and did not show enough composure," he added## However, Virat Kohli thinks that their bowlers did the pretty good job for them and will be great assets going into the next season.## "There were some new players who did well. Umesh bowled extremely well with the new ball, Chahal was great, Siraj and Moeen contributed too, so plenty of positives to take into the next season. However, after cruising at 75 for 1, it was disappointed that we could to finish it off well. I would like to wish all the other teams the best of luck for the remainder of the competition," He said.## Virat Kohli is very much right about RCB's middle order concern as the third highest run-getter is Mandeep Singh with 252 runs after their two best batsmen Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers scored 530 and 480 respectively.## On the other hand, despite climbing fourth in the points table, RR's fate would be decided based on matches played by Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab on Sunday, May 20.## For more updates and news, stay tuned to us.## Thanks for the reading.
