Box Office: Soori's 'Garudan' Tops 50 Crore Gross Worldwide In 15 Days

Chennai, June 14 - Actor Soori's action thriller Garudan has emerged as a big success and has entered the 50 crores club at the worldwide box office in 15 days. The movie joined horror-comedy, Aranmanai 4 as the only Tamil movie of 2024 to score success at the box office. ## Directed by R. S. Durai Senthilkumar, Garudan has grossed approximately 50.65 crores worldwide, including approx. 42.65 crores in India and an estimated 8 crores at the overseas box office in 15 days. It is currently the 4th highest-grossing Kollywood film of the year, behind Aranmanai 4, Ayalaan, and Captain Miller. ## Garudan received positive reception from critics and audiences upon its release on May 31st. The movie scored 4+ crores gross on its first day and remained solid throughout the first week to earn 27+ crores gross in India. It held firmly in the second week to collect approximately 14.75 crores gross and has started the third week on a good note. ## A consistent decent run for Garudan could take it to 50 crores gross mark domestically, however, Vijay Sethupathi's Maharaja might dent its chances as it also started strongly to collect over 5+ crores gross domestically. Chennai, June 10 - Tamil action thriller Garudan has had an impressive second weekend at the domestic box office with approximately 9.25 crores gross collection, pushing the total collection to 36.25 crores gross in 10 days. It is the 4th highest-grossing Tamil movie of 2024 domestically. ## Starring Soori in the leading role, Garudan has minted approximately 6.25 crores at the overseas box office, taking the global cume to 42.50 crores, making it 4th highest-grossing Tamil title of the year, behind Aranmanai 4, Ayalaan, and Captain Miller. ## Directed by R. Adivi Sesh's 'Major' Scored 8 Million Viewing Hours In Its First Full Week On Netflix

Mumbai, July 13 - Adivi Sesh's biographical action drama film Major scored 8 million viewing hours on Netflix in its first full week in Hindi and Telugu languages. The movie was made available on the streamer on July 3 in all three release languages, Hindi, Telugu, and Malayalam. ## The Hindi version of the movie was the most-watched Indian title and second-most overall non-English movie globally on Netflix in the week of July 4 - July 10. It scored 5.99 million viewing hours while the Telugu version, which landed at number 8, grabbed 2 million hours of watch time in the movie's first full week on Netflix. ## Directed by Sashi Kiran Tikka, "Major" was released theatrically on June 3rd in the original Hindi and Telugu along with dubbed Malayalam versions. The film follows the life of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, an army officer who was martyred in the 2008 Mumbai attacks. It also stars Prakash Raj, Sobhita Dhulipala, Saiee Manjrekar, Revathi, Murali Sharma and Anish Kuruvilla. From its theatrical run, the movie grossed approx. 60 crores worldwide and declared as a box office super hit. ## SS Rajamouli's never-ending obsession RRR Hindi version continued to remain one of the choices on Netflix, especially among overseas audiences. The period action drama film scored 2.85 million viewing hours and remained in the top 10 most-watched non-English films worldwide for the 8th consecutive week on Netflix. ## Hindi movie, Operation Romeo, produced by Neeraj Pandey, opened at number 9 with 1.94 million viewing hours on the streamer. On the other hand, Kartik Aaryan, Kiara Advani, and Tabu-fronted horror-comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 remained in the top 10 for the 4th consecutive week. Hyderabad, June 9 - Telugu actor Adivi Sesh's confidence is winning big at the box office as his "Major" has become the biggest hit of his career. "Major" was released on June 3rd along with Akshay Kumar's "Samrat Prithviraj", and Kamal Haasan-fronted "Vikram". ## Adivi Sesh was an unknown face to the pan-India audience before the release of his film as people were more interested in the other two biggies. It follows the life of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, an army officer who was killed in the 2008 Mumbai attacks. ## Directed by Sashi Kiran Tikka, "Major" has had an excellent opening weekend at the worldwide box office, grossing Rs. 35.65 crores in just 3 days. During the screening in Pune, the movie received a standing ovation from the audience and Sesh was lauded for portraying Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan. ## The excitement is picking up as Adivi Sesh is planning a special screening of 'Major' for Telugu celebrities and dignitaries. During a recent social media interaction with fans, Sesh confirmed that he would be hosting a special screening for Telugu superstar Pawan Kalyan. ## To a Twitter user who requested a special show for the Gabbar Singh actor, the Goodachari actor replied, "Pakka (Sure)". Hyderabad, May 10 - Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu, who has produced the upcoming Pan-India movie "Major", revealed that he turned down big offers for direct-to-ott release of the movie to save it for the theatrical release. ## "Major", fronted by Adivi Sesh, is turning out to be a much-awaited movie after the launch of the trailer yesterday. Based on the life of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, an army officer who was killed in the 2008 Mumbai attacks, the movie also stars Saiee Manjrekar, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prakash Raj, Revathi, and Murali Sharma in prominent roles. ## Mahesh Babu, who believed that Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan's story must be known to the world, stated that the martyr's story is larger than life. ## During the trailer launch event in Hyderabad yesterday, Mahesh Babu revealed that he received lucrative OTT offers during the Covid period, but was adamant that the movie needed to be released in theatres only because the action design and emotions were larger than life.## "Major" has been shot simultaneously in Hindi and Telugu while it will also be released in dubbed Malayalam version.
