'Avengers: Doomsday' And 'Avengers: Secret Wars' Release Dates Postponed

Los Angeles, May 23 - The new Avengers movies will take more than the earlier scheduled time as Disney has postponed the release dates of Marvel Studios' Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret War by nearly 7 months each. ## Doomsday, which was supposed to be released on May 1st, 2026, will now debut in worldwide theatres on December 18, 2026. On the other hand, Secret Wars has been pushed back to December 17, 2027, from its originally planned May 7, 2027, launch. ## Notably, the new release calendar saw Disney remove several unannounced Marvel titles from its calendar. The date of Feb. 13, 2026, previously slotted for an Untitled Marvel project, has been removed from the schedule. Meanwhile, the dates of Nov. 6, 2026 and Nov. 5, 2027 — both previously set for Untitled Marvel features — have been amended to simply Untitled Disney films. ## After the changes, Avengers: Doomsday and Sony's Spider-Man: Brand New Day are now the only Marvel Cinematic Universe entries slated to hit theatres in 2026. Brand New Day is scheduled for a July 31, 2026, release, which was 3 months after the original date of Doomsday. ## Doomsday and Secret Wars are both massive productions for Marvel Studios and will feature a huge cast, including the return of Robert Downey Jr., this time playing the villainous Doctor Doom. Marvel Studios Announces Cast of 'Avengers: Doomsday'

Los Angeles, March 27 - The Avengers have assembled once again, 6 years after Avengers Endgame emerged as one of the biggest grossers in history, as the filming of Marvel Studios' highly-anticipated Avengers: Doomsday has begun. ## On Wednesday, Marvel Studios surprised everyone when it announced the cast of the upcoming film during a nearly five-and-a-half-hour live stream. The cast of Doomsday has some surprising names, consisting of a mix of Marvel Cinematic Universe mainstays as well as actors from 20th Century Fox's now-defunct X-Men universe and upcoming stars of Fantastic Four: First Steps. ## The studio announced 26 actors who would feature in the upcoming film, and among the returning cast members from Endgame are Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson, Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Paul Rudd as Scott Lang/Ant-Man, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Letitia Wright as Shuri, and Winston Duke as M'Baku. As previously announced, Robert Downey Jr. will be back as the villain Doctor Doom instead of Iron Man.## The cast of Marvel's upcoming May release, Thunderbolts*, was also confirmed with Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), Wyatt Russell (U.S. Agent), David Harbour (Red Guardian), Hannah John-Kamen (Ghost), and Lewis Pullman. The cast reveal further confirmed X-Men actors Patrick Stewart (Prof. X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), James Marsden (Cyclops) and Rebecca Romijn (Mystique).## They will be joined by X2: X-Men United's Alan Cuming (Nightcrawler) and Kelsey Grammer (Beast), who starred in X-Men: The Last Stand for 20th Century Fox and had a cameo in The Marvels. Russo Brothers Reveal Estimated Runtime of 'Avengers: Doomsday' And 'Avengers: Secret Wars'

Los Angeles, March 5 - Marvel Studios' highly-awaited Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars are fast approaching their releases. Doomsday will be the first to release in 2026, followed by Secret Wars in 2027, and the Russo Brothers, who are set to direct both, have revealed the estimated runtime of both films. ## Speaking to Collider's Steve Weintraub for their upcoming film, The Electric State, the director duo teased the runtime of their high-profile Marvel blockbusters. Both films will be longer than most of the Marvel movies. The longest-running film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Avengers: Endgame (182 minutes), was directed by Russos and it was their last MCU film.## Well, the upcoming Avengers movies may not necessarily be the longest films in the MCU but they are surely going to be the closest to the longest film as according to the directors, the first one (Doomsday) is two and a half, and the second one (Secret Wars) is three hours long.## Doomsday, which is scheduled to hit the big screen on May 1, 2026, will start filming this summer. As per Russos, it will be the most radical Marvel movie to date and the audience will be shocked to see it. After Robert Downey Jr., Marvel Brings Chris Evans On Board 'Avengers: Doomsday'

Los Angeles, December 10 - Marvel Studios is re-assembling its OG superheroes for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday after seemingly closing that chapter in the last Avengers film - Avengers: Endgame, back in 2019. ## After officially confirming Robert Downey Jr.'s big Marvel comeback, this time as a villain, to play Doctor Doom in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday (2026) and Avengers: Secret Wars (2027), Hollywood media has reported that Chris Evans who played Captain America, is also returning to the MCU. ## According to the report by Deadline, the role of Evans isn't entirely clear at this point but he in the Captain America costume seems less likely. However, the report states it wouldn't be a shock if he reprises that iconic role as Steve Rogers though Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson character will also return as Captain America. ## It is not that Evans hasn't featured in the MCU title after Endgame, the actor recently had a cameo in the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all-time, the MCU's Deadpool & Wolverine, as his character from the Fox/Marvel early aughts days, which are also pre-Captain America: Johnny Storm from the Fantastic Four movies.## Deadline has also reported that apart from Downey Jr., and Evans, many other Marvel OG superheroes are expected to return for Doomsday. Russo Brothers Provide 'Avengers: Doomsday' Filming Update

Los Angeles, October 22 - At the San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) earlier this year, Marvel Studios president Kavin Feige stunned the entertainment world by announcing that Robert Downey Jr. would return to MCU to play the antagonist as Doctor Doom in the upcoming Avengers movies - Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. ## Feige also announced that the Russo Brothers would make their Marvel comeback to direct both - Doomsday and Secret Wars which were scheduled to be released on 1 May 2026, and 7 May 2027, respectively. Now, Russo Brothers have provided a filming update for Avengers: Doomsday. ## During an interview at New York Comic Con with Collider, the director duo confirmed that Doomsday will officially begin filming in the spring of 2025. Christopher Nolan Confirms His Next Film For 2026 Release

Los Angeles, October 9 - After the box office blockbuster Oppenheimer, maverick filmmaker Christopher Nolan has finalised his next film which will be funded by Universal Pictures.## According to Deadline, Nolan's next will be headlined by Matt Damon and this will mark his third movie with the blockbuster filmmaker after Interstellar (2014) and Oppenheimer (2023). Mumbai, July 30 - Marvel Studios shocked the entertainment fraternity when it announced the much-talked-about comeback of Robert Downey Jr. in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to headline the next Avengers movies along with the director duo of Russo Brothers (Joe Russo and Anthony Russo) at the San Diego Comic-Con event recently.## Unlike what people might have thought Downey Jr. would make a comeback as Iron Man, the superhero character he has donned over the years since the inception of the MCU, the actor has been tasked to play the villainous Doctor Doom this time around.## Though the casting of Downey Jr. has garnered a mixed reception no one can deny the fact that it, along with Russos' directorial MCU comeback only gonna benefit Marvel big time just like the old days when they used to help Marvel print money at the box office like the back of hand. This, however, will cost Marvel way more than what it used to pay the Iron Man star and Russos in the past.## According to Variety, the Kavin Fiege-owned Marvel will sign a $80 million paycheck for Anthony and Joe Russo to direct Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars and significantly more for Robert Downey Jr. to tackle uber-villain Doctor Doom in the two tentpoles. ## The report further revealed that the Russos' deal with the studio doesn't include back-end compensation, but it does contain performance escalators that kick in at the $750 million and $1 billion thresholds. It is to be noted that the director duo is also producing the upcoming Avengers movies under their banner AGBO.## Downey Jr. has been by far the biggest paid member of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Variety reports that the actor has earned between $500 million and $600 million for playing Iron Man. For the upcoming Avengers movies, the actor will get the perks that include private jet travel, dedicated security and a whole trailer encampment, other than his massive undisclosed payday, which is, as said above, way more than Russos.## Avengers Doomsday and Avengers Secret Wars are scheduled to be released in May 2026, and May 2027, respectively. Box Office: Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) Becomes First Film Franchise To Hit $30 Billion Worldwide

Mumbai, July 28 - Marvel Studios/Disney's Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has become the first-ever movie franchise to hit $30 billion at the worldwide box office after the release of the latest blockbuster Deadpool and Wolverine. The milestone was announced during the studio's Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con, led by studio chief Kevin Feige.## MCU started with Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man (2008) which grossed $586 million globally. The latest Deadpool & Wolverine which is the 34th movie in the blockbuster franchise pushed the MCU to become the first to reach the $30 billion milestone after the record opening for an R-rated title and is poised to score $450+ million in its global opening weekend. ## The comic book turned into a feature film franchise has delivered unbelievable success for Marvel/Disney. Across the 34 films so far, Avengers: Endgame ($2.799 billion) and Avengers: Infinity War ($2.05 billion) stand as the two highest-grossing MCU films globally, followed by Spider-Man: No Way Home as the third biggest with $1.92 billion.## Between the top-grossing titles, MCU has also seen tough days with major mishits such as The Marvels, the 33rd movie in the franchise, and the most recent to Deadpool 3.
