Aamir Khan's 'Laapataa Ladies' Picked As India's Official Entry For Oscars

Mumbai, September 23 - Aamir Khan's production venture Laapataa Ladies has been picked as India's official entry for the Oscars 2025, the Film Federation of India announced on Monday. ## The comedy-drama film, directed by Kiran Rao, tells the story of two young newly-wed brides who get exchanged during a train ride to their husband's homes. It stars Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Shrivastava, Chhaya Kadam, and Ravi Kishan, in key roles.## Laapataa Ladies was released on March 1st this year amid positive critical reception. The movie did decently at the box office, grossing approximately 27.50 crores worldwide before emerging as a big success on streaming with over 17 million views.## The 13-member select committee headed by Assamese director Jahnu Barua unanimously decided on Laapataa Ladies as India's Oscars 2025 entry. It is produced by Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao, and Jyoti Deshpande under the banners of Aamir Khan Productions and Jio Studios. ## There were 29 films in the race to get picked for Oscars entry, and some of the films include Bollywood blockbuster Animal, Malayalam National Award winner Aattam, and Cannes winner All We Imagine As Light along with Tamil film Maharaja, Telugu title Kalki 2898 AD, and Bollywood films Swatantraya Veer Savarkar and Article 370 were also on the list.## Last year, Malayalam mega-blockbuster - 2018: Everyone Is A Hero, was sent to the Oscars.## Stay tuned...

Box Office: Laapataa Ladies Crosses 20 Crore India Net Collection

Mumbai, May 31 - Aamir Khan's production venture Laapataa Ladies has shown incredible consistency at the box office on the lower levels since its digital release and has crossed the 20 crores net mark which once looked like a pipe dream. ## Directed by Kiran Rao, Laapataa Ladies was made available on the digital platform after 8 weeks and since then it has minted over 2.50 crores net collection by showing an upward trend. The movie has so far minted approximately 20.58 crores net in 13 weeks. ## At the worldwide box office, the comedy-drama has grossed approximately 27 crores and can be called an average affair. Netflix India Announces Its Slate Of 2021 Releases Including Films and Web Shows

Streaming giant Netflix on Wednesday announced the slate of its upcoming releases which will be streaming on its platform in 2021. The slate includes a total of 41 titles including the next seasons of Delhi Crime, Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives, Mismatched, Kota Factory, Little Things, and others. ## This year, Netflix India will also release original true crime documentaries, one of which is based on Ma Anand Sheela apart from the comedy show of Kapil Sharma. Netflix India will also be streaming 13 films this year including Kartik Aaryan's Dhamaka, Taapsee Pannu's Haseen Dilruba, an anthology film Ajeeb Daastaans, Dhanush starrer Jagame Thandhiram, and few others. ## Have a look at the movies premiering on Netflix this year -## ## Jagame Thandhiram ## Dhanush, James Cosmo, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Kalaiyarasan, and Joju George starrer tell the story of Suruli, a nomadic gangster who has to choose between good and evil in a war for what one can truly call home.
