'Virat Is Probably The Most Complete Player Out Of The Three (Virat, Kane, Smith) Of Them Across Formats' - Joe Root

England Test captain Joe Root has admitted that he wasn't sure about putting himself in the elite modern-day cricket's "fab four" club with Virat Kohli, Kane Williamson, and Steve Smith. Instead, he accepted he could learn from all three of them.## While Root is sometimes referred to as one of the "big four" batsmen in contemporary international cricket, he believes that Virat Kohli is "probably the most complete batsman" out of the three (Virat, Smith, Kane) of them across formats. ## "I try not to measure myself against other players," Root said to ESPNcricinfo. "But I do watch a lot of how they go about constructing different types of innings across the three formats. You're looking at three of the greatest players the game has seen. They're three brilliant people to watch play and learn from. I'm not sure I'd put myself in their bracket, to be honest".## "I look at how late Kane plays the ball, how still and correct he is. How, under pressure, he finds a way to trust his defense on any given surface. That's a great quality to have", he said.## "You look at Smith and at times he's just awful to watch. It's horrible on the eye. But you'd pay to have him in your team. He's a fantastic run-scorer. The way he thinks about the game and manages passages of play is exceptional. He makes bowlers bowl where he wants them to and his self-confidence you can see by the way he leaves the ball and some of his idiosyncrasies. He's always trying to find a way to get on top of the opposition. His hunger for big, big scores is fantastic", he added. ## England's red-ball skipper hails Virat Kohli who boasts an extraordinary record in all three formats, averaging 54 in Tests, 59 in ODIs, and 51 in T20Is. There are Smith and Williamson as modern-day great but Root rates the Indian skipper as the best of the lot. ## "Virat is probably the most complete player out of the three of them across formats. His ability to chase things down in the limited-overs format and to pace it as well as he does as often as he does and be not out at the end is extraordinary. He's got a very good all-round game but you wouldn't say he's weaker against spin or pace.## "He obviously struggled on his first tour to England, but he scored really heavily when he came back. And similarly, elsewhere in the world, he's put in massive performances. All that with the weight of India on his shoulders, as well", the 29-year old added. ## Joe Root's numbers, on the other hand, are impressive in the Test and ODI formats, averaging 48 and 50 respectively, but he has always been criticized for his lack of ability to convert the fifties into hundreds. He has crossed 50+ scores on 66 occasions but could only convert them into 100 only on 17 times which is far less as compared to Virat, Smith, and Kane. ## Stay tuned...

Sourav Ganguly thinks Australia's tour will be tougher this time but expects Virat Kohli & Co. to win

Former team India captain and current BCCI president, Sourav Ganguly is hopeful that Virat Kohli & Co. can repeat the 2018 success in Australia when the two most powerful teams will face each other later this year in the highly anticipated Test series. ## When India toured Australia previously in 2018, the Virat Kohli led side created history by winning the Test series down under for the first time. However, Ganguly expects a tougher challenge this time for Team India to repeat the same kind of success as Australia will be boosted by David Warner and Steve Smith's presence who were missing on the previous tour due to their suspensions. ## Speaking to India Today, the BCCI president said, "It is going to be a tough series. It is not going to be what it was two years back. It is going to be a strong Australia but our team is as good. We have the batting, we have the bowling. We just need to bat better. You know the best team overseas bat well. When we were so successful in England, in Australia, in Pakistan we were getting 400-500-600 in Test matches. I said that to Virat as well."## "Because you are Virat Kohli, your standards are high," he pointed out. "When you walk out to play when you walk out with your team, I don't expect you to just play well against Australia, I expect you to win. So you have to live up to the standards. For his captaincy tenure, this will be a milestone series - more than the World Cup". ## Ganguly also revealed that he has been communicating with the Indian skipper Virat Kohli on the need to stay fit with the players not having played since early March due to COVID-19.## "I have been in touch with him, telling him, 'you have got to stay fit. You haven't played cricket for six months, you don't want your fast bowlers to come back and get injured. They have been training, but training and playing cricket is different".## "You have got to make sure your best bowlers are ready for the tour and fit. Whether it's Shami (Mohammad), whether it's (Jasprit) Bumrah, whether it's Ishant (Sharma), whether it's (Hardik) Pandya, they have to be at the top of their match fitness when they land in Australia", he added. ## The India tour of Australia is scheduled to begin from October 11 with 3 T20Is followed by 4 Tests and 3 ODIs. The Border-Gavaskar test series will commence from December 3 and it will end on January 7 before ODIs taking place from January 12. ## Stay tuned...

"You remind me of me", Jonty Rhodes tells Suresh Raina

Former South African player and arguably the greatest fielder of all-time, Jonty Rhodes hailed Indian superstar Suresh Raina for his fielding ability. He has also praised Ravindra Jadeja for his athleticism in the field. ## "You remind me of me. I know how hard fields are in India and I have always have been a big fan (of you)," Rhodes said Raina in a live chat on Instagram. ## "Jaddu (Ravindra Jadeja) has taken some fantastic catches. The key is he is very committed. He is very good at anticipating the ball also," he added. ## Also read - 'We used to talk that we should have Raina in the team' ## Jonty Rhodes while talking about some of the best fielders around the world at the moment has said, "I love to watch AB (de Villiers) batting or fielding. (Martin) Guptill is there. Jaddu. Also, Michael Bevan, he had excellent speed. Also, Jaddu has great speed on the field."## Rhodes also spoke about Indian skipper Virat Kohli who has set a new bar of athleticism for being one of the fittest players in the world at the moment. ## "Steve Smith stands out..although he does not look to be the fittest one around. You see the transformation of Virat Kohli. He was that chubby youngster earlier and now he has realized if he has to be right up there has to be fit and eat right. Eating right is so important. So Virat Kohli is right up there."## Stay tuned...

AB de Villiers compares Virat Kohli and Steve Smith with tennis legends Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal

There has always been a debate about who is a better player between Virat Kohli and Steve Smith at present? Well, former South African captain AB de Villiers who himself has been a legend compares Virat Kohli and Steve Smith with the tennis legends Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. For him, Virat Kohli's natural talent of striking the ball makes him a cricketing equivalent of Roger Federer while Steve Smith's ability to dealing with mental pressure matches with Rafael Nadal. ## In a live chat on Instagram with former Zimbabwe pacer Pommie Mbangwa, AB de Villiers said, "It's a difficult one, but Virat is definitely the more natural ball-striker, there''s no doubt about that," de Villiers said during his interaction on "Sports Hurricane".## "In tennis terms, I'd say he's more like a (Roger) Federer whereas Smith is like a (Rafael) Nadal. Smith is mentally very strong and figures out a way of scoring runs - he doesn't look natural, but he ends up writing records and doing amazing things at the crease."## "I think mentally, Smith is one of the best I have ever seen. Virat has also scored runs all over the world and won games under pressure," de Villiers said.## While talking about Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers felt that Virat Kohli is ahead of his former teammate Sachin Tendulkar when it comes to chasing. ## "Sachin is a role model for both of us (him and Kohli). The way he stood out in his era, the things he achieved, and with the grace, he did all that is a great example for everyone. And I think Virat will also say that he set the standards for us to follow", de Villiers said.## "But personally, in a chase, I'd say Virat is the best I've seen in my life. Sachin was amazing in all formats and all situations, but Virat comes out on top while chasing."## Stay tuned...
