Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past 1st Weekend Collection: Rs. 9.35 Cr Net; Misses Top 10 Spot By 7.88%

BY SACNILK

Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past has completed its opening weekend at the box office, bringing in steady numbers that reflect a focused interest in the horror-mystery genre. As a spiritual successor to the 2011 hit Haunted 3D, this new chapter entered the theaters with a reported budget of 15 crore. After three days of play, the film has managed to secure a net collection of 9.35 crore in India. Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past - 1st Weekend CollectionDAYINDIA NET COLLECTIONSHOW COUNTOCCUPANCYDay 1 (Friday)₹ 2.50 Cr2,90715.4%Day 2 (Saturday)₹ 3.25 Cr3,77015.0%Day 3 (Sunday)₹ 3.60 Cr4,13017.0%Total Weekend₹ 9.35 Cr10,807- (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The film showed a positive upward trend over the weekend. Following a Friday opening of 2.50 crore, the collections jumped by 30 percent on Saturday to reach 3.25 crore. Sunday saw a further growth of 10.8 percent, bringing in 3.60 crore. This cumulative performance has pushed the total India gross to ₹11.03 crore, keeping the worldwide gross at the same ₹11.03 crore mark. Given the production scale, reaching nearly 10 crore net in three days is a respectable start, though it still has some ground to cover to reach the break-even point. In terms of occupancy, the 3D format has clearly been the preferred choice for the audience. In the National Capital Region (NCR), the 3D version maintained a consistent overall occupancy of 32.8 percent across both Day 1 and Day 3. The evening shows on Sunday were particularly busy in this region with 44 percent occupancy. In Mumbai, the 3D shows saw an even better response on Sunday with a 35 percent occupancy rate. On the other hand, the 2D version struggled to match these heights. For instance, in Ahmedabad, the 2D version saw 8.3 percent occupancy on Friday, which grew slightly to 10.8 percent by Sunday. These numbers suggest that the 3D gimmick continues to be the primary draw for the franchise. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) With its opening weekend total of 9.35 crore, Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past currently sits at the 11th spot for the highest opening weekends of 2026. The film narrowly missed entering the elite Top 10 list by just 80 lakhs. Here is the list of the top 10 opening weekend performers of the year so far: Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge – ₹290.94 Cr Border 2 – ₹121.00 Cr Bhooth Bangla – ₹54.25 Cr O Romeo – ₹30.15 Cr Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai – ₹24.00 Cr Mardaani 3 – ₹17.50 Cr Pati Patni Aur Woh Do – ₹17.50 Cr Ikkis – ₹13.15 Cr Chand Mera Dil – ₹11.00 Cr The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond – ₹10.15 Cr National chains like PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis contributed significantly to the Sunday totals. On Day 3 alone, these chains sold approximately 11,300 tickets, generating a gross of 36 lakh. PVR led the pack with 16 lakh in gross from 393 shows, followed by INOX at 11 lakh and Cinepolis at 9 lakh. Across the entire weekend, over 23,660 tickets were sold through these major national chains. Ticket sales on BookMyShow also stayed healthy, with 51,450 tickets booked in the last 24 hours of the weekend, bringing the total platform sales to 174,150 tickets. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Comparing this performance to the original 2011 Haunted 3D provides an interesting perspective. The first film was a certified hit, ending its run with an India net of 25.37 crore and a worldwide gross of 34.25 crore. While Echoes of the Past has a ways to go before matching those lifetime figures, its current weekend net of 9.35 crore puts it at about 37 percent of the original film's total domestic earnings. For the sequel to replicate the hit status of its predecessor, it will need to maintain a strong grip over the weekdays and avoid a significant Monday drop. The total show count for the weekend reached 10,807 shows, indicating a wide release for a film of this size. The film stars Mimoh Chakraborty alongside Chetna Pande and is billed as a spiritual successor that leans heavily into the gothic horror elements established by Vikram Bhatt. While the niche genre usually sees front-loaded performance, the growth seen on Saturday and Sunday offers a glimmer of hope for a steady run in the coming days.

Horror's Box Office Rise: Haunted 3D, Backrooms Score Good Opening As Obsession Continues Strong Run On Friday

BY SACNILK

Mumbai, June 13 - There were several new releases this Friday in India, and among them, the horror genre continues to emerge as one of the most reliable performers at the Indian box office. While several star-driven films hit cinemas on Friday, it was Vikram Bhatt's Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past that attracted the strongest audience response among the new releases, further highlighting the growing popularity of horror films in the country. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) According to estimates, Haunted 3D opened with an India net collection of approximately 2.50 crore (3 crore gross) on its first day. The film outperformed fellow Friday releases, including Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata, Main Vaapas Aaunga and Governor, despite carrying a much smaller scale and lower pre-release buzz. The majority of its collections came from Hindi-speaking markets, where the film recorded encouraging occupancy throughout the day. New Hollywood horror thriller Backrooms has also generated interest among urban Indian audiences, particularly in premium multiplexes. On its opening day, the film grossed approximately 1.50 crores, including premiere shows. It was the least expected to perform, but it surprised the trade with its better-than-expected start, very much like Haunted 3D. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Meanwhile, holdover horror-thriller Obsession continued its impressive run at the Indian box office. On its third Friday, the film scored an excellent around 4 crore gross, which is in par with its second Friday collection. This has pushed the total Indian gross collection of the movie to 63.25 crores in 15 days. The movie is heading towards the 100 crore mark, which is a remarkable achievement for an original international title. Together, Haunted 3D, Backrooms and Obsession reflect a larger trend currently visible in the market: horror films are increasingly becoming dependable theatrical attractions, often delivering stronger returns than many mainstream dramas and star vehicles. The success of these titles once again proves that audiences are willing to turn up for well-marketed horror films with engaging concepts.

Box Office: Haunted 3D Surprises As Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata, Main Vaapas Aaunga, And Governor Open On Expected Lines

Mumbai, June 13 - The crowded June 12 box office clash has produced an unexpected winner, with Vikram Bhatt's horror thriller Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past emerging as the strongest opener among the major Hindi releases. Despite facing competition from star-driven films such as Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata, Main Vaapas Aaunga, and Governor: The Silent Saviour, the horror film managed to attract audiences on its opening day and take the lead at the ticket counters. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) According to estimates, Haunted 3D collected around 2.5 crore net on its first day in India, outperforming all the notable new releases. The film appears to have benefited from strong interest among horror fans and the brand value associated with Vikram Bhatt's earlier horror successes. Its opening is being viewed as a pleasant surprise, especially considering the intense competition it faced from multiple releases. Meanwhile, Main Vaapas Aaunga, directed by Imtiaz Ali, opened on expected lines with collections in the 1.15 crore range. The film managed to edge past Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata and secure the second position among the Hindi releases of the day. While the opening numbers are modest, the film's target audience and word-of-mouth will be crucial in determining its long-term theatrical prospects. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Kangana Ranaut's Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata also recorded an opening close to industry expectations. The film, based on the heroic efforts of nurses during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, collected around 1 crore net on its first day amid stiff competition at the box office. Manoj Bajpayee's Governor also performed on the expected lines, bringing in around 90 lakh net. The film now relies heavily on positive audience feedback and weekend growth to improve its theatrical trajectory. The battle, however, is far from over. With multiple films catering to different audience segments, the weekend trend will determine whether Haunted 3D can maintain its surprise lead or if Main Vaapas Aaunga and Bharat Bhagya Vidhata can gain momentum through word-of-mouth. For now, the horror genre has once again demonstrated its ability to punch above its weight at the Indian box office.

Haunted 3D Leads Bollywood's 4-Way Clash; Advance Gross 17% Higher Than Imtiaz Ali's Main Vaapas Aaunga

BY SACNILK

Bollywood is gearing up for a massive four-way clash this Friday, June 12, with a diverse range of films hitting the big screens. From psychological horror and period romances to financial thrillers and rescue dramas, there is plenty on the plate for moviegoers. The advance booking trends for these films are now coming in, and the ticket sales give us a fair idea of how they might perform on their opening day. Let's take a closer look at the numbers these films have managed to rake in so far. Leading the pack in terms of both revenue and volume is Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past, directed by Vikram Bhatt. Serving as a sequel to the 2011 cult classic, the film brings back Mimoh Chakraborty in an atmospheric horror story. The movie has sold approximately 40,000 tickets across the country, resulting in an advance gross of roughly ₹71.4 Lakhs. Looking at the major national chains, PVR has contributed around ₹5.7 Lakhs, while INOX and Cinepolis have added roughly ₹4 Lakhs and ₹3.8 Lakhs respectively. The multi-format release in 2D and 3D seems to be a major pull for horror fans. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Following is Imtiaz Ali's highly anticipated period drama, Main Vaapas Aaunga. With music by A.R. Rahman, the film explores a cross-generational love story heavily rooted in the nostalgia of the 1947 Partition. Produced on a budget of about ₹70 Crore, the film has sold roughly 21,000 tickets so far, bringing its advance gross to approximately ₹61 Lakhs. The multiplex performance looks solid, with PVR bringing in around ₹22.6 Lakhs and INOX adding about ₹12.1 Lakhs. Trade expectations suggest the film needs a strong opening day in the range of ₹5 to ₹7 Crore to maintain a healthy theatrical value. Next up is Governor: The Silent Saviour, a biographical political drama directed by Chinmay D. Mandlekar. The plot revisits the 1990 Indian economic crisis, focusing on the events that saved the nation from bankruptcy. The makers utilized a distinct marketing strategy by offering the first 25,000 tickets at a retro rate of ₹50, which has certainly helped drive interest. So far, the film has sold about 22,000 tickets, resulting in an advance gross of roughly ₹56.3 Lakhs. In the national chains, PVR is leading with roughly ₹21 Lakhs, followed by INOX at approximately ₹9.9 Lakhs and Cinepolis at around ₹4.5 Lakhs. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Rounding off the clash is Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata, a rescue thriller directed by Manoj Tapadia. The film features Kangana Ranaut as a brave nurse and uncovers untold chapters of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. Ahead of its release, the film has managed to sell approximately 22,000 tickets, bringing its advance gross to about ₹54.3 Lakhs. The breakdown for major chains shows PVR at around ₹16.2 Lakhs, INOX at roughly ₹8.7 Lakhs, and Cinepolis adding about ₹4.1 Lakhs. As a film honoring unsung heroes, it adds a patriotic flavor to this weekend's competitive lineup. With four mid-to-high budget films releasing on the same day, the audience's attention is clearly divided. While the horror genre is currently leading in terms of ticket volume, the directorial brands and star power across the other releases are expected to drive significant walk-in footfalls on Friday. It will be interesting to see which of these stories manages to capture the audience's heart and survive this major box office battle.

Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata to Backrooms: CBFC Surprises With Three Zero-Cut Certifications

BY SACNILK

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has been under a lot of pressure lately, with social media and the film industry criticizing its recent decisions. If you have been following the news, the heavy cuts imposed on films like Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai and Bandar caused quite a stir. The situation reached a boiling point when certain crucial scenes in the blockbuster Obsession were ordered to be edited, leading to an intense uproar that lasted for days. However, in a development first reported as an exclusive by Bollywood Hungama, the board seems to have taken a surprisingly lenient turn this week by clearing three significant releases with zero cuts. The first major film to benefit from this shift is Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata, starring Kangana Ranaut. The movie, which is a thriller based on the tragic 26/11 terror attacks, was granted a U/A 16+ rating by the Examining Committee. Usually, films dealing with such sensitive and violent subject matter face several audio or visual objections, but the CBFC found no reason to ask for any deletions here. According to the censor certificate issued on May 29, the film has a total runtime of approximately 127 minutes, or about 2 hours and 7 minutes. Following this, Vikram Bhatt is making a return to the 3D horror genre with Haunted – Echoes Of The Past. Starring Mimoh Chakraborty, the film has been awarded an ‘A’ rating. Historically, horror films with an adult rating are often subjected to scissor cuts due to intense horrifying sequences or intimate scenes. Surprisingly, this film has passed without a single visual or audio cut. The certificate, issued on June 9, confirms the film's length at nearly 139 minutes, which translates to a runtime of 2 hours and 19 minutes. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The third film to receive a clean chit is the Hollywood sci-fi psychological horror flick, Backrooms. Much like the recent sleeper hit Obsession, there is significant curiosity surrounding this title. The CBFC granted it an ‘A’ rating on June 8 without proposing any cuts. The film is relatively concise, with a runtime of 1 hour and 51 minutes. While the zero-cut status is a win for purists, trade analysts suggest a bit of caution. There is a possibility that the studio might have voluntarily blurred or removed certain disturbing shots before the submission to avoid a confrontation with the board, a practice that is becoming increasingly common with international horror releases. This move by the CBFC is being seen as a tactical shift to ease the ongoing tension with filmmakers and audiences alike. By allowing these high-stakes thrillers and horror movies to retain their original vision, the board might be trying to signal a more balanced approach toward adult-oriented content. For now, moviegoers can look forward to watching these titles exactly as the directors intended, provided the studios haven't played it too safe themselves.

Ranveer Singh To Reunite With Sanjay Leela Bhansali In Baiju Bawra!

BY SACNILK

Mumbai, August 4, 2021: Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali is working on his ambitious musical love saga, Baiju Bawra. The reports regarding the film's lead actor have been making noises for a long time now. From Ranbir Kapoor to Kartik Aaryan, the actors were said to be approached by Bhansali, but things didn't work. ## Now, the latest development suggests that Bhansali has finalized the film's leading hero, and it is none other than, Ranveer Singh, who is reportadly roped in and as Baiju Bawra in Bhansali's version of the musical saga, earlier filmed by Vikram Bhatt's grandfather, the distinguished Vijay Bhatt in 1952. ## Earlier, there were reports saying Ranbir has said no to Sanjay Leela Bhansali's proposed musical love story Baiju Bawra. However, it is now revealed that the actor was never approached to star in the film. In fact, the only time Ranbir turned down a role in a Bhansali film was when he was offered Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai starrer Guzaarish. Bhansali offered him the role that was eventually played by Aditya Roy Kapur. ## About the casting of Baiju Bawra, the source close to the development told a leading entertainment portal, "It is Ranveer Singh who was being seriously considered for the part. Bhansali's focus was on the casting of Heera Mandi. But now since erroneous information on the male casting of Baiju Bawra was being leaked out, Bhansali has decided to announce Ranveer Singh in the ambitious grand musical's title role". ## If all goes well, it will be a reunion of Ranveer and Bhansali. The actor-director duo has already worked in blockbuster films - Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, Bajirao Mastani, and Padmaavat. Baiju Bawra will mark their fourth collaboration. ## Stay tuned...
