Mumbai, September 16 - As the re-release trend is picking up in Bollywood, the nostalgia factor is bringing the audience to the theatres to revisit some of the evergreen hits. Amid the success of a few re-releases, Yash Raj Film's Veer-Zaara returned to the big screen and scored well in the opening weekend. ## The 20-year-old epic romantic drama, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta, and Rani Mukerji, was re-released on September 13 on over 300 shows, which jumped to over 400 shows on Sunday after the positive response at the box office. ## The Yash Chopra's superhit directorial scored approximately 25 lakh gross collection on its opening day upon re-release. The movie witnessed an upward trend on the second day to score approximately 40 lakh gross, followed by another 45+ lakh on Sunday, for approximately 1.10+ crore gross (95 lakh net) opening weekend. ## Earlier in the year, Veer-Zaara had occasional re-releases on limited shows where it grossed approximately 40 lakh collection, and including the latest re-release, the movie has grossed around 1.50 crores this year (1.30 crores net). ## Veer-Zaara was a super hit at the box office in its original run with approximately 97 crores worldwide gross collection. After the re-release this year, the total collection is now around 98.50 crores. It needs to be seen how it performs going forward as it needs just 1.50 crores gross to top the 100 crore mark.## Stay tuned...

Mumbai, August 30 - Blockbuster director Ali Abbas Zafar is returning to Yash Raj Films to direct some of the biggest films upcoming films from the studio, reports Variety. ## The Sultan director made his directorial debut with YRF's romantic comedy Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, starring Katrina Kaif, Imran Khan and Ali Zafar in 2011. He followed this with Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor's Gunday (2014) for the studio. ## Zafar got his biggest breakthrough under YRF in 2016 when he directed superstar Salman Khan's sports drama Sultan which is his highest-grossing film to date. A year later in 2017, the filmmaker reunited with Salman for another blockbuster, Tiger Zinda Hai, the second instalment of YRF's popular spy universe franchise created by YRF head Aditya Chopra. ## After making his first 4 directorial ventures for Yash Raj Films, Abbas Zafar reunited with the Bajrangi Bhaijaan star for the third time for Bharat (2019) which was the filmmaker's first movie outside YRF, before he directed 2 OTT films - Jogi (2022) and Bloody Daddy (2023). ## After scoring big success with all his theatrical films, Ali had a rare misfire earlier this year in the form of Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff's Bade Miyan Chote Miyan which bombed at the box office. Now, after nearly 7 years, the successful filmmaker is making his way back to YRF where he scored a couple of his biggest blockbusters.## It is not yet clear which upcoming YRF projects Ali will direct and the report says it will be original theatrical tentpole titles. Mumbai, July 5 - Bollywood star Alia Bhatt, and Sharvari Wagh have officially been confirmed to headline Yash Raj Films' first female-led Spy Universe film, titled Alpha. The film is directed by The Railway Man director Shiv Rawail. ## The movie has been in the news since last year and now, on July 5, Yash Raj Films has announced the official title with a voice teaser and also confirmed the shooting commencement. ## In the teaser, Alia Bhatt can be heard saying, "The first letter of the Greek alphabet... and our program's motto - the first, the fastest, the strongest. Every city is an urban jungle, and in that jungle, the one who will always rule is... Alpha".## Alpha marks a significant shift for the action-packed YRF's Spy Universe series, which has previously centred on male protagonists. Mumbai, February 2 - Bollywood star Alia Bhatt is all set to headline Yash Raj Films' first female-led-Spy Universe film. The actress will be playing the role of a super agent in the action-packed thriller alongside Sharvari Wagh who also made the Spy Universe debut. ## Now, according to the reports, Aditya Chopra-headed YRF has locked director Shiv Rawail to helm this much-awaited film. Rawail recently directed YRF's debut web series "The Railway Man" which scored critical acclaim and was also a successful venture for Netflix. ## The yet-untitled Spy movie will mark Rawail's feature film debut, however, he had previous stints as assistant director on Yash Raj Films productions "Dhoom 3", starring Aamir Khan, and "Fan", starring Shah Rukh Khan. ## "Shiv's debut directorial for YRF, ‘The Railway Men,’ is a humongous hit and he is the talk of the town today. Mumbai, August 14 - Yash Raj Films' long-awaited comedy-drama film "The Great Indian Family", starring Vicky Kaushal and Manushi Chhillar in the leading roles finally has a release date in theaters. ## Directed by "Thugs of Hindostan" fame Vijay Krishna Acharya, "The Great Indian Family" has been in production since 2021, but it was delayed due to the covid-19 pandemic as well as some other reasons.## Now, the movie has been confirmed to hit cinemas worldwide on September 22, 2023, two weeks after Shah Rukh Khan's "Jawan", and a week before Prabhas-fronted "Salaar". The release date was announced through a video featuring Vicky Kaushal.## In the video, Kaushal tells us what "family" means as he compares a family to a melodious classical Indian song. He then adds that it feels good to call a family nice but his family is full of snakes as the promo shows how the actor deals with his family in the movie.## With the release date announcement video, YRF also unveiled the first-look poster of the movie which features the entire primary cast, led by Kaushal and Manushi. Mumbai, March 31 - Bollywood star Ranveer Singh will next be seen in a social drama film "Jayeshbhai Jordaar", which marks "Arjun Reddy" actress, Shalini Pandey's Bollywood debut. The YRF production is touted to be a superhero film with a strong social message. It is directed by debutant Divyang Thakkar. ## Jayeshbhai Jordaar is scheduled to release on May 13 this year after getting delayed multiple times. Mumbai, October 30 - A couple of days ago, Amazon Prime Video and Yash Raj Films signed a deal for the post-theatrical streaming rights of YRF's 4 upcoming films that include Bunty Aur Babli 2, Prithviraj, Jayeshbhai Jordaar, and Shamshera. These films will be available to stream on Prime Video after 4-weeks of theatrical release. ## As per the industry insiders, Amazon Prime Video has paid Rs. 250 crores for the four aforementioned films, which is one of the biggest deals for movies, streaming after theatrical release. Earlier, there were reports that Amazon had offered Rs. 450 crores to YRF for direct-to-digital release of the said films. However, Aditya Chopra of YRF was always wanted his films to have theatrical release first.## Apart from the 4 aforementioned films, Prime Video has reportedly acquired the post-theatrical streaming rights of YRF's two more most-awaited films - Tiger 3 and Pathan. However, neither Prime Video nor YRF made an official announcement regarding the two films but it is said that the two companies reached a deal that will give access to Prime Video to stream Tiger 3 and Pathan after 8-weeks of theatrical release. ## Salman Khan starrer "Tiger 3" and Shah Rukh Khan's "Pathan" are undoubtedly the biggest projects in the YRF slate and these two films will hold great value even after theatrical release. According to reports, Prime Video was keen to bag both and offered a whopping Rs 200 crores offer for 8-weeks theatrical window.
