Hyderabad, August 21 - After two months of pause, the Telugu film industry is back in the action and is on a potential long ride. Putting this in simple words - the largest South Indian film industry is flying high with the support of three back-to-back box office blockbusters, all coming in this month called August. ## The industry was in a dire need of one big hit to kick-start the process, and it got two not just one in the form of "Sita Ramam" and "Bimbisara". A week later joining these two films was actor Nikhil Siddhartha's "Karthikeya 2", which is simply going overdrive and proving to be a force to reckon with no sign of dropping anytime soon. ## While the aforementioned three films are going strong, the Telugu industry has one more, if not many, potential blockbuster in August in the form of Vijay Deverakonda and director Puri Jagannadh's much-anticipated sports action drama film, "Liger". Scheduled to release on August 25, the movie is carrying a very good buzz and it is almost certain to open big at the Telugu box office. ## "Liger" is a Pan India film, shot simultaneously in Hindi and Telugu. It is co-produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions so the makers have taken the Hindi market very seriously, in fact, they started the promotion by visiting multiple North Indian cities. The Hindi version may not take as big an opening as the Telugu version, but it can be the most productive in the long run if received very well. ## Personally, the thing which is exciting to me is the extra confidence Vijay Deverakonda (who recently quoted a minimum of 200 crores earning of the film) is showing in the movie. Of course, the cat will be out of the hat when the movie officially will get released, but it is very important for the involved people to back their product wholeheartedly which is exactly what VD is doing without putting his head down for a second. ## The stakes involved in "Liger" are comparatively high than the previous films, but so is the confidence of the makers and buzz around the film and this should extend the dominance of Telugu cinema at the box office. It also stars Ananya Pandey as the female lead along with Ramya Krishnan and Ronit Roy in important roles. Box Office: Karthikeya 2 Scored An Excellent First Full Week

Hyderabad, August 20 - Telugu mystical action-adventure film, Karthikeya 2 is on a dream run at the box office. The movie, starring Nikhil Siddharth in the title role, had a limited release but went on to outshine other new releases to become a massive blockbuster within a week. ## "Karthikeya 2" was released on Saturday (August 13) and opened to super positive reviews and word of mouth. It scored 5.04 crores net on the first day and went on to finish the first full week (7 days) with approx. 36 crores net, including both Telugu and Hindi languages.## The movie was valued at approx. 13 crores worldwide and it has already scored over 28 crores Share the collection, including 18.7 crores share in Telugu states (AP/TG). It became the highest-grossing film for actor Nikhil in just 4 days and there is not stopping it at the moment. ## Meanwhile, the dubbed Hindi version of the movie is showing no sign of taking a back seat. The Hindi version opened with just 7 lakh on the first day but thanks to positive word of mouth, it grew exponentially throughout the first week and never dropped at once in the first 7 days. It closed the full opening week scoring 2.46 crores net. The total Hindi net collection is 8.21 crores.## The growth of film in the Hindi language can be understood by the number of shows it added over the week. It was released on just 55 shows by the 7th day, it had over 3000 shows and is increasing rapidly with each passing hour. In addition to under its further growth, K2 outscored outright Bollywood biggies, "Laal Singh Chaddha" and "Raksha Bandhan's" combined total yesterday (August 19). ## The worldwide gross total of "Karthikeya 2" is approx. 50 crores, including 7 crores at the overseas box office. Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay's Historic Novel Anandamath Gets Film Adaptation, Titled '1770'

Hyderabad, August 17 - The historic Bengali novel, Anandamath by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay is getting a film adaptation soon. Titled 1770, the pan-India film will be directed by SS Rajamouli protégé Ashwin Gangaraju and it is being created by author-filmmaker Ram Kamal Mukherjee. ## Ashwin Gangaraju has assisted maverick filmmaker SS Rajamouli in "Eega" and "Baahubali" (both series). He made his debut as a director with the critically acclaimed film "Aakashvani" in 2021. Legendary V Vijayendra Prasad is writing the story and screenplay of "1770". ## "This subject was a huge challenge for me, but with legendary V Vijayendra Prasad sir writing the adapted story and screenplay, I think what we have on paper is a blockbuster cinematic experience", affirms director Ashwin Gangaraju.## "As a filmmaker, I'm more drawn towards the stories which have periodic setups, bigger emotions, scope for larger than life action, etc and this is something that sits in perfectly for me. Initially, I was a little skeptical but I spoke to Ram Kamal Mukherjee and after listening to his vision I gained confidence", he added. ## The motion poster for "1770" has been released to mark 150 years of Vande Mataram, the song that appeared first in Bankim Chandra's novel Anandamath, which almost shook the roots of the British Empire. "I feel that Vande Mataram was a magical word. It was a mantra that was given by Maharishi Bankim Chandra for a nation to unite against tyranny and injustice. In 1770, we dealt with the story of unknown warriors who ignited the fire of the freedom movement", V Vijayendra Prasad said. ## The movie will be produced by Shhailendra Kkumar, Sujayy Kuttiy, Krishna Kumar B, and Suraj Sharma and they feel that it is a right in India to make larger-than-life cinema. The makers will lock the main lead before Dassera, and by Diwali, they will announce the cast of the film.
