Actors Dia Mirza and Sonu Sood have been roped in to co-host the documentary series "Bharat Ke Mahaveer" to celebrate the country's selfless heroes of the COVID-19 pandemic.## The three-part series is a joint initiative between the United Nations in India and NITI Aayog to showcase 12 stories of unsung heroes who displayed "strength and solidarity" amid the pandemic, with Discovery Channel.## Dia Mirza, who is UN Secretary-General's Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Advocate, said India has shown the world how people's united power can overcome "any adversity".## "Instead of self-interest, we have seen an outpouring of solidarity during the pandemic. People are banding together to spread love, compassion, and positivity through their actions, thereby ensuring that the most vulnerable are not left behind. I am proud to call myself an Indian and proud to be part of this excellent initiative", Mirza said in a statement.## Sood Sood, who has been at the forefront of COVID-related relief activities, said the pandemic has been "painful" but it didn't deter individuals to show an extraordinary sense of empathy.## "The almighty has been benevolent to me, and has given me means to help others, and I tried in my small way, but some of the stories I have read are of individuals with limited means but who with their strong will – moved mountains. The covid-19 pandemic has hit the showbiz, due to which the production of the films was forced to shut down followed by theatres, cinema halls, and multiplexes being closed in the lockdown in the month of March. ## The shutdown of showbiz was a big setback for the filmmakers and exhibitors, and to overcome this, the filmmakers took to the OTT route to release their films, which was heavily criticized by cinema owners. Now, they have decided not to release any of OTT releases in theatres as the government has allowed reopening cinemas from October 15. ## There was talk that films premiered on OTT platforms in which Sushant Singh Rajput's last movie Dil Bechara, Shakuntala Devi, Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, Sadak 2, Gulabo Sitabo, and Khuda Haafiz are prominant, might release in cinemas, but the leading multiplex chains (PVR, Cinepolis, Inox, and Carnival) have decided against it. ## IMPORTANT DEVELOPMENT... Actress Kangana Ranaut seems to be digging in trouble for her anti-farmer tweet last month in which he called terrorists to those people who, as Kangana thinks, were spreading misinformation about the farm laws passed by the Parliament. The Tumkuru district police on Tuesday (October 13) registered a case against the actress for her tweet against farmers who were protesting against the farm laws.## Last week, a Tumkuru court had directed the local Kyatasandra police station to book Kangana Ranaut for her tweet on farmers. The ruling came after a complaint was lodged by advocate L. Ramesh Naik last month.## "My case against popular Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut is not to gain any publicity but to convey to her that what she did was wrong. When farmers take to the streets to protest against any government policy, they are not necessarily terrorists, as she thinks. I have joined many such protests, am I a terrorist? I need clarification on this and therefore I am fighting this case", Naik told IANS as quoted in India TV report.## On September 21, Kangana had tweeted, "People who spread misinformation and rumours about CAA that caused riots are the same people who are now spreading misinformation about farmers' bills and causing terror in the nation, they are terrorists".## Alleging that the tweet amounted to causing provocation, hurt, the enmity between groups, and intentional insult, Naik had filed the complaint against the actress in the Tumkur court on September 28 after the Tumkuru police refused to entertain his complaint.## Kangana is currently busy shooting for her upcoming film "Thalaivi" in which she is portraying the character of a late actress and former chief minister of Tamil Nadu, Jayaram Jayalalithaa.## Stay tuned...

Despite the cinemas are allowed to reopen with 50% capacity, the Reliance Entertainment CEO Shibashish Sarkar had earlier said that the makers can't release such a big film with 15 days of promotion time. ## "Sooryavanshi' and '83' have been ready for quite some time. 'Sooryavanshi' was originally slated for a Diwali release, but it's not practical. Even if theatres open up in November, you can't release such a big film with 15 days of promotion time", Sarkar had told IANS. ## While Ranveer Singh starrer, "83" still may release on Christmas, the makers, as per a leading entertainment portal, are planning to bring "Sooryavanshi" on Republic day 2021 week. Shibashish Sarkar had also suggested that they will be aiming between January to March to release Rohit Shetty directorial. ## Sooryavanshi is an action film and it is the fourth installment of Rohit Shetty's Police Universe. Akshay Kumar playing DCP Veer Sooryavanshi, the chief of the Anti-Terrorism Squad. His character was announced towards the end of Simmba that served as a character introduction of Sooryavanshi.
