Mumbai, June 29 - Disney's Pixar movie Inside Out 2 is racing towards $1 billion at the worldwide box office, and in this process, it has topped the full run of the first movie which grossed $859 million and the sequel crossed this in just 16 days. ## The coming-of-age animated blockbuster grossed $863 million (7200 crores) through Thursday (June 27) and it topped $900 million by Friday (official data awaited). It has entered the all-time domestic (North America) animated Top 10 chart with $411.8 million (3435 crores) at the 9th spot.## Overseas, IO2 has grossed $451.3 million (3765 crores) from 45 markets through Thursday. The blockbuster will reach the $1 billion mark by Sunday to become the first film of 2024 and just the 12th animated movie of all time to achieve the feat. ## The Top 10 overseas markets through Thursday (June 27) are as follows - Mexico ($71.1M), the UK ($32.9M), Korea ($32.2M), Brazil ($28M), Italy ($26.3M), Germany ($20.1M), Spain ($20M), Argentina ($17M), France ($17M) and China ($15.2M). In India, it has grossed approximately 23.50 crores ($2.80 million).## IO2 is projected to finish its full run with $1.4+ billion which will make it the third highest-grossing animated movie ever with a chance to finish at the 2nd spot with $1.5 billion ahead of Frozen 2 ($1.45 billion). Mumbai, June 29 - After the blockbuster start with approximately 175 crores worldwide gross on Thursday's opening day, Pan India superstar Prabhas-fronted Kalki 2898 AD has had a sensational hold on its second day to take the total collection past 250 crores gross. ## Directed by Nag Ashwin, Kalki performed brilliantly on its second day in India as well as overseas box office. Domestically, the movie witnessed a drop of around 40% to gross around 70 crores in all versions, with Hindi performing on par with the opening day which is brilliant. ## The overseas collection of the movie is led by North America where it grossed approximately 46.50 crores on its opening day+premiere and on its second day, it minted $1.65+ million (14 crores gross) there. Los Angeles, June 29 - Warner Bros. Pictures has set a holiday release for the Dune director, Denis Villeneuve's next feature, described as an "event film". The studio announced that it will hit screens on December 18, 2026, and be produced by Legendary Pictures.## Villeneuve last directed, Dune: Part 2 which was a mega hit. The details about the filmmaker's next have not been revealed yet but it was recently reported that that he was working on a nuclear war and that Dune 3 would not be his immediate next. ## Even though the filmmaker stated that he would not touch Dune anytime soon, The Hollywood Reporter reports that Villeneuve may have had a change of heart and could be turning his attention back to finishing this sci-fi adventure franchise, before taking up the nuclear war movie. ## Dune 2, released in March this year, was a mega box office hit with $711 million worldwide against a budget of $190 million. It is currently the second highest-grossing movie of 2024 worldwide, behind Inside Out 2. The first Dune movie was released during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021 and grossed $407 million globally while simultaneously having a day and date release on streaming. ## Warner Bros. Pictures has also announced the release date of the Legendary's next MonsterVerse film. Touted as the sequel to another mega hit of this year Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, the movie will hit theatres on March 26, 2027. Mumbai, June 28 - Prabhas-fronted sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD heading for 90+ crores 4-day opening weekend in Hindi with an outside chance of touching 100 crores net after the perfect hold on its second day. The movie scored approximately 22.50 crores net its Thursday opening day. ## Kalki is witnessing a drop under 10% on its second day, Friday, for an estimated 21-22+ crores net which might be on the higher end, depending on hold in mass centres. The total collection of Hindi versions is 43.50+ crores net and with big Saturday and Sunday coming, it should clear 90 crores weekend. ## The growth on Saturday might not be a regular one for a well-received film due to the World Cup final between India and South Africa but it can be made up with bigger growth on Sunday. Word of mouth is positive, and Monday's hold could determine its longevity. The movie will also be topping the 100 crore net mark by Sunday or Tuesday max as another film of Prabhas in this club. ## Kalki 2898 AD had an opening day of approximately 114 crores gross in India in all versions which made it the first Indian movie of 2024 to cross the 100 crores gross opening day domestically. Mumbai, June 28 - Marvel Studios' Captain America: Brave New World is getting expensive and if reports are to be believed, it could end up being the costliest Marvel movie ever. It is intended to be the fourth instalment in the Captain America film series and stars Anthony Mackie as the new Captain America. ## According to the report by World of Reel, Captain America 4 initially had a budget of $275 million and was supposed to wrapped filming in 2023 itself. However, the movie went into reshoots after the unsatisfactory output and this has reportedly increased the budget by $75 million - $100 million to make it a $350+ million budgeted blockbuster, in the line of Age of Ultron's $365 million budget (unadjusted for inflation). ## If the rumours budget is true, it will be a massive task for Marvel and Disney to bring the audience to theatres in the numbers they used to before as there is no Chris Evans as Captain America this time even though the brand Marvel is still expected to pull things to some extent. ## There is no official synopsis as of now but Captain America 4 is confirmed to be the continuation of the Disney Plus series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021) starring Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, among others. Mumbai, June 28 - Pan India superstar Prabhas is set for another good ride at the Hindi box office after his sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD off to a superb start with approximately 22.50 crores net collection. The opening of the film is in the range of Hrithik Roshan's Fighter with a minor difference as the joint biggest of the year.## As has often been said in the last few years, Prabhas has emerged as the biggest superstar on the Pan India level and easily the biggest South India-origin star in the North. Despite his films not reaching the high end of the target, the actor has consistently delivered in Hindi, which the Bollywood stars have failed to do regularly. ## Since Baahubali (2015) which opened at 5.15 crores net in Hindi, Prabhas has done 6 movies, including Baahubali 2 and except for Radhe Shyam and Salaar, all the movies have taken an opening of 20+ crores net in the dubbed Hindi version. Radhe Shyam was a major misfire with just 4.80 crores net opening, largely due to the COVID-19 effect. Salaar did open well at around 16 crores net to lead a strong finish of over 150 crores net.## Baahubali 2 remains the biggest opener for Mirchi star in Hindi with 41 crores net, followed by Adipurush with 37.25 crores opening. Though the other movies couldn't come close to the opening of Baahubali 2 or Adipurush, they opened big enough to pave the way for the big lifetime finish. ## As said before, Prabhas is the only South Indian origin actor to have 5 films in the 100 crores net club in Hindi and with Kalki also performing well, the superstar will have 6 movies on the list, including a 500+ crores mega-blockbuster in Baahubali 2. Hyderabad, June 28 - Director Nag Ashwin's sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD has had a sensational opening day at the domestic box office, clearing 100 crores gross mark and was equally strong overseas to put the movie among the top three biggest Indian openers of all-time. ## In India, the Prabhas-starrer blockbuster grossed approximately 114 crores in all versions. There were expectations of the movie scoring much more but the mass centres in Telugu states didn't show up as expected which kept the movie a little below the projected mark but big enough to set the tone for a massive opening weekend. ## In terms of language-wise gross collection, the original Telugu version scored approximately 78.50 crores, followed by the Hindi version with approximately 27 crores, and the rest of the languages grossed around 8.50 crores. The Telugu version faired below expectations but it is expected to maintain a solid hold over the weekend.## Overseas, Kalki 2898 AD grossed an estimated 61 crores on opening day, for a worldwide 175 crores start which is the third biggest ever for an Indian movie behind RRR (223 crores) and Baahubali 2 (217 crores). Mumbai, June 27 - Kalki 2898 AD is off to a flying start a the Indian box office and is flirting with a potential 95 crores net collection in all languages. It has easily taken the biggest opening of the year and the biggest since KGF 2 by a long margin. ## Starring Prabhas in the lead role, the sci-fi epic is estimated to gross 65-70 crores in Telugu states, followed by 26-28 crores in North India. In Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala, the movie is expected to gross an estimated 18-20 crores, for 110-115 crores (95 crores net) in all versions. ## The Hindi version of the movie is eyeing the biggest opening of the year beating Fighter. The Hrithik Roshan-starrer is currently the biggest Hindi opener of the year with 22.50 crores net and Kalki is looking to score an estimated 22-23 crores net collection. ## The initial word of mouth seems to be positive which should help the movie to consolidate the collection over the weekend. The movie grossed $3.85 (32.10 crores) on premiere day in NA. ## Kalki 2898 AD scored $4.25 million in pre-sales for the entire weekend and could be among the top 10 movies this weekend in North America.
