Mumbai, October 3 - It looks like the covid-19 pandemic has become a thing of the past for Hollywood films that are going bonkers at the box office. The latest on the list is James Bond's "No Time To Die" which has debuted in the international market over this weekend.## Daniel Craig's final outing as James Bond, "No Time To Die" kicked off the overseas box office with a thundering $119 million from 54 markets. It becomes the first Hollywood movie to gross $100M+ in the opening weekend during the covid-19 pandemic, that too without the biggest movie market China, where it is scheduled to debut on October 29.## The United Kingdom is leading the overseas race for "No Time To Die", where the movie notched the biggest three-day total in the United Kingdom and generated $34.4 million in the 4-day weekend. Apart from the UK, Germany has contributed $14.7M, along with Japan ($5.8M), Denmark ($5.3M), S. Korea ($4.6M), Hong Kong ($2.9M), among others. ## As compared to previous Bond movies, "No Time To Die" topped 2012's "Skyfall" ($109 million debut internationally), and fell just short of 2015's "Spectre", which grossed $123 million in the opening weekend internationally. The movie also had the best inaugural box office revenues in 24 countries, including Japan, Hong Kong, Germany, and Spain.## Meanwhile, the 25th Bond film has crossed the $1 million mark in India and earned approx $1.45M (11 crores) in the 4-day weekend. The movie is scheduled to debut in the domestic market (North America) on October 8 and in China on October 29. It looks for a global box office of at least $700M. ## In another box office milestone, the big-budget Warner Bros. sci-fi epic "Dune" has crossed the $100 million mark internationally ahead of its U.S. release on October 8. Mumbai, October 2 - Filmmaker Mahesh Manjrekar, after announcing a film on Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, has now announced a film on Nathuram Godse, who assassinated Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. The movie, titled "Godse" was announced on Mahatma Gandhi's 152nd birth anniversary on October 2. It will be produced by Sandeep Singh and Raaj Shaandilyaa. ## Announcing the film, Mahesh Manjrekar wrote on Twitter, "The Deadliest Birthday wish ever! Los Angeles, October 2 - Hollywood A-lister actress Scarlett Johansson and Disney studio have resolved their dispute which begun over the "Black Widow's" day-and-date release in theaters and on Disney Plus. The actress had filed a lawsuit against the company, alleging that Disney breached her contract terms which reportedly guaranteed an exclusive theatrical release of her Marvel movies. ## On Thursday (September 30), the two parties reached a settlement over her blockbuster lawsuit. While the terms of the settlement were not disclosed officially, it is reported that the lawsuit cost Disney $40 million, which the company paid Johansson to resolve the dispute. It is said that the actress had sought a $50 million payout from the studio but they reportedly agreed on $40 million after negotiations. ## The $40 million compensation does not include $20 million, which Disney had earlier paid to Scarlett as "Black Widow" fees. This makes a BOMB $60 million, which Disney paid the actress after settling things up. In a statement, Scarlett Johansson said that she was happy resolving her issues with Disney and look forward to working together in future. ## Due to the lawsuit the upcoming "Tower of Terror" movie, in which, Johansson was slated to produce and star in was rumored to be canceled by Disney. Los Angeles, October 2 - Marvel Studios' "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings" has done what other Hollywood pics couldn't do in the last 18-months. The Simu Liu-fronted superhero flick has become the first Hollywood film to gross $200M at the domestic box office during the covid-19 pandemic era, a milestone, which is a big win for the theatrical experience. ## It took just 4-weeks for the newest addition in the MCU film to hit the milestone at the North American box office, which no one was expecting to achieve except the destiny in these devastating times. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, "Shang-Chi", however, got an exclusive theatrical release unlike other Disney movies which launched simultaneously on the big screen and Disney+ Premier Access during the pandemic. ## The big-budget tentpole was set for a big box office outing after it opened with an impressive $8.8 million on Thursday previews. Los Angeles, October 1 - It was an excellent start for Sony's "Venom: Let There Be Carnage" at the box office. The Tom Hardy-fronted clocks in an impressive $11.6 million on Thursday from showtimes that began at 4 PM at 3,500 theaters. This is the second-best opening during the pandemic for a Hollywood pic after Marvel Studios' "Black Widow" which grossed $13.2M on Thursday night. ## The Thursday preview haul of "Venom: Let There Be Carnage" is $1.6 million higher than "Venom's" (2018) $10 million. Venom went on to score $80 million in the opening weekend, including $32.5M on the first day at the domestic box office. ## Marvel Studios' "Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings" has the third-best Thursday opening during the covid-19 pandemic with $8.8 million followed by Universal Pictures' "Fast & Furious 9" (F9) which did $7.1M. "Venom 2" might surpass "F9's" opening weekend total of $70 million. ## Sony has told the media that they're comping the sequel to Emily Blunt starrer horror thriller "A Quiet Place Part II" which did $47.5M over its 3 days of Memorial Day weekend, however, other tracking services and even major exhibitors' own internal projections have Venom 2 over $60M, which is looking quite possible at the moment.## The Andy Serkis-directed currently has Rotten Tomatoes review rating of 58% Rotten, which is higher than 2018's first installment of 30% Rotten. However, things are finally looking all settled and the streamer has reportedly roped in Aditya Roy Kapur and Anil Kapoor to lead this big-budget series. ## Earlier, the spy drama series was supposed to be headlined by the Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan and he was reportedly paid a whopping 75 crores for the same. However, just before the series was set to go on floors, Hrithik walked out of the project, and it was put on hold indefinitely. It is reported that Roshan was not comfortable with the long schedules and decided to walk out. ## And now, amid the uncertainty over the project, The Night Manager Indian adaptation is reportedly back on track and will be headlined by the Malang actors. Aditya Roy Kapur is said to be stepping into the shoes of Tom Hiddleston and play the role of a luxury hotel night manager and former Indian soldier while Anil Kapoor will reprise Hugh Laurie's role of an arms dealer who disguises himself to be a business tycoon.## The series will be produced by Preity Zinta in association with Banijay Asia while Sandeep Modi who co-directed Ram Madhvani's Emmay Awards nominated Aarya has been brought on board to direct this six-part. The two were battling out for an alleged breach of contract over Johansson's "Black Widow" release, which has now been resolved.
