Rajinikanth's Coolie Final Worldwide Box Office Collection, Records, and Verdict

Chennai, September 29 – Superstar Rajinikanth's mass entertainer Coolie has wrapped up its theatrical run at the global box office with mixed results. Despite a record opening and strong initial buzz, the film couldn't sustain the same momentum in the following weeks, leading to an average overall performance. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Coolie opened to earth earth-shattering start of over 150 crores worldwide, before opening weekend collection of around 385 crores, both record numbers for Tamil cinema. However, poor critics' reviews and mixed word of mouth proved to be a roadblock in its promising theatrical run, which ended before its desired result. The gangster action drama was eyed as the potential 1000 crores grosser, but it could only manage a little over 500 crores worldwide. The final collection, however, is not a small total by any means, but the movie needed to score much more to be termed as a box office hit. The trade estimated that Coolie needed to score around 600 crores worldwide to break even. Here Is The Final Worldwide Box Office Breakdown of Coolie (Est.) India Net Box Office Collection₹ 285.00 Cr India Gross Box Office Collection₹ 338.00 Cr Overseas Box Office Collection₹ 180.50 Cr Worldwide Box Office Collection₹ 518.50 Cr India Footfalls/Admits1.80 Cr approx. In terms of audience reach, Coolie recorded approximately 1.80 crore (estimated) footfalls in India, a decent turnout but considerably lower compared to Rajinikanth’s biggest blockbuster, Jailer. The film opened huge, even scoring one of the biggest debuts of the year, but it lost the plot in the coming weeks, which curtailed its long-run potential. Given the huge pre-release business and expectations riding on it, the film's outcome has been tagged as a below-average to average verdict at the box office. While not a disaster, Coolie couldn't replicate the superstar's past blockbuster highs and will be remembered as a film that started big but settled for a modest finish in the end. Stay tuned...

Ahaan shared the screen with Aneet Padda, who also made her big-screen debut with this film. Ever since the unexpected success of Saiyaara, both Ahaan Pandey and Aneet Padda have been favourites among the youths, who have been asking what is next for them. They Call Him OG Hits 200 Crore Worldwide: First For Pawan Kalyan

Hyderabad, September 28 – Power star Pawan Kalyan's gangster action drama They Call Him OG continues its solid run at the global box office. The Sujeeth directorial has now crossed the coveted 200 crore milestone worldwide, marking the first-ever film in Pawan Kalyan's career to achieve this feat. Released with massive hype, the film opened to historic numbers and registered one of the biggest debuts ever for an Indian film. Despite a noticeable dip after the record-breaking start, They Call Him OG managed to hold steady on Saturday, thanks to the superstar's unparalleled fan base and solid performance in the Telugu states. The worldwide collection of the film stands at approximately 200 crores in 3 days. The film's action-heavy narrative and stylish presentation have clicked with the audience, while Pawan Kalyan’s commanding screen presence has been the driving force behind its box office run so far. Its performance in overseas markets has also contributed significantly to the overall tally, with the 3-day overseas cum stands at around 55 crores. With They Call Him OG crossing 200 crores, Pawan Kalyan has now joined the elite club of South Indian superstars to score the milestone without much support from the Hindi market. The milestone also strengthens Sujeeth's position as a director capable of delivering big-ticket spectacles. The coming weekdays will be crucial in determining how high this film can eventually go, but for now, Pawan Kalyan has scored a career-defining box office triumph. Stay tuned...

Tovino Thomas' Lokah Chapter 2 Officially Announced With A Special Promo

Kochi, September 27 - Producer Dulquer Salmaan's superhero film Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, starring Kalyani Priyadarshan, has turned out to be a mammoth box office success with a gross collection of over 280 crores worldwide. The movie, directed by Dominic Arun, is Malayalam cinema's biggest grosser of all time. On Saturday (September 27), the makers officially announced Lokah Chapter 2, which will be headlined by Tovino Thomas, who, along with Dulquer Salmaan, made cameo appearances in the first part. The announcement was made through a special video, which is intriguing and has set the stage for bigger things to come. In a nearly three-minute-long video featuring Tovino Thomas as Michael/Chathan and Dulquer Salmaan as Charlie/Odiyan, the duo are discussing their characters in a fun conversation. When Charlie describes Michael as a "boring" person, as he always remains drunk, the latter disagrees with it and says he is a fun guy, and that his and his 389 brothers' basic trait is drinking alcohol. Chathan then points to the 'They live among us' book, mentioning how the first chapter was about Kalliyankattu Neeli, whom he calls his girl, and shared that the second part will be about him. He reveals that his brother is violent, not 'fun' like him, as he claims he's after him and Moothon (voiced by Mammootty). When he asks Charlie if he would come in case of any help, he rejects, stating he wouldn't want to interfere in Chathan's family issues. After a small disagreement, Michael says he would bring Charlie even if he doesn't want to come. Dominic Arun will return to write and direct Chapter 2. The filming is expected to begin by the end of this year or early next year. Stay tuned...

Shraddha Kapoor Announces Animated Film Chhoti Stree Before Stree 3

Mumbai, September 27 - Producer Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films is expanding its horror comedy universe and is set to introduce an animated film on Stree. The official announcement of the film was made on Saturday, 26, during the trailer launch event of Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna-fronted Thamma. Maddock had been teasing a big surprise for the past few days, and it was finally revealed during the Thamma trailer launch. The event was also attended by Shraddha Kapoor, who has been the biggest star of the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe with blockbuster films like Stree and Stree 2. While all eyes were on the Thamma trailer, Shraddha delighted the fans that before Stree 3, there will be an animated film titled Chhoti Stree based on the popular character. The animated movie will explore the backstory of Stree and will reportedly end with a scene of Stree 3, which will be released in 2027. "Kids and adults all watch Stree together. The interesting bit about Chhoti Stree is the way Amar and Niren have conceptualised it. It'll end with a scene from Stree 3. So, it'll transform from an animation to a live-action movie in the end. It'll also answer the question ki Stree ki back story kya hai. It'll arrive 6 months before Stree 3", Shraddha said. Meanwhile, Thamma, directed by Munjya fame Aditya Sarpotdar, is scheduled to release on October 21 on the occasion of Diwali. The film will feature a cameo of Varun Dhawan's Bhediya and is also linked with Munjya. Stay tuned...

They Call Him OG Becomes Pawan Kalyan's Biggest Grosser In 2 Days

Hyderabad, September 27 - After the record-breaking opening, power star Pawan Kalyan's gangster action drama They Call Him OG witnessed a big drop on its second day, but the hold was good enough to make it the career biggest grosser of the superstar. Directed by Sujeeth, the film stormed the global box office with an opening of 144 crores worldwide (including premieres), marking not only Pawan Kalyan's career-best start but also one of the highest openings for an Indian film ever. However, Friday witnessed a significant drop of nearly 80%, bringing in around 28-29 crores worldwide gross. Despite the fall, OG has already overtaken the lifetime collection of Pawan Kalyan's Bheemla Nayak (₹158.5 crores) in just two days, becoming his biggest grosser. The film now stands at an estimated 172 crores worldwide gross, including approximately 123 crores from India alone. After the massive worldwide pre-sales of 98 crores, OG opened to mixed to positive reviews, which laid the foundation for a big start. However, the bigger-than-expected drop on the second day might have rung alarm bells, even though it is a norm for South Indian films to witness a decline in collection after a strong start. Produced by DVV Entertainment, OG needs to gross around 300 crores worldwide to break even. Ideally, such break-even targets should be achieved easily with the kind of opening OG had, but the same can't be said when it comes to South Indian films, which can take drastic turns, depending on word of mouth. OG, however, has the holiday advantage, which should help it score steadily. But it needs to be seen how things actually pan out in the coming days, which are crucial for its box office success. Kantara Chapter 1 Makers Spark Dispute In Hindi Belt With Unreasonable Showcasing Demands Against Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari

Mumbai, September 26 - The Dussehra 2025 box office clash between South biggie Kantara Chapter 1 and the much-awaited Bollywood romantic comedy Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari seems to be taking an ugly turn after the makers demand exclusive excessive showcasing for the Kantara prequel. With less than a week to go before the release, the makers of both films are leaving no stone unturned to make their films reach the maximum audience, and in between, a dispute over showcasing has started making headlines. According to the report by Bollywood Hungama, AA Films, the distributors of Kanatar 2, have sent an email to the exhibitors regarding their requirement for the shows. It is said that "they have demanded that all shows in single-screen and 12 shows in two-screen cinemas. The latter also amounts to all shows; they mention the same clearly in the mail to avoid any confusion. Shockingly, they have also asked for 18 shows in three-screen multiplexes, which, in other words, also amounts to every show." The Kantara makers are very well aware that Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor's Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumar is releasing on the same day, yet they have asked for such a showcase in the Hindi belt, which is not just unreasonable, but also laughable. An exhibitor, on condition of anonymity, told Bollywood Hungama, "I don't agree with this unreasonable demand. We understand that Kantara is a highly anticipated film. But then, even Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari also looks like a fun entertainer, which will attract family audiences and youth. Hence, I'd like to play that film as well." The report further states that AA Films has demanded 100% shows in IMAX properties, along with a higher percentage of shows in theatres with 4-screens and beyond. It needs to be seen how things turn out, but at the moment, it doesn't look like the game is fair. Stay tuned...

Mumbai, September 26 - Warner Bros. Starring Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson, The Last Rites achieved the milestone at the end of its third week. As said, The Conjuring Last Rites, directed by Michael Chaves, is the 4th Hollywood movie of 2025 to reach the milestone of 100 crores gross in the country. Earlier, Jurassic World Rebirth (123 crores), Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning (123.50 crores) and F1 Movie (127.50 crores) topped the milestone. Pawan Kalyan's They Call Him OG Beats Rajinikanth's Coolie To Score Biggest Box Office Opening of 2025 In India

Mumbai, September 26 - Power star Pawan Kalyan has unleashed a box office storm with his gangster action drama They Call Him OG. The film has opened to record-breaking numbers domestically, registering the biggest opening of 2025, surpassing superstar Rajinikanth's Coolie, which belongs to a similar action-packed genre. Directed by Sujeeth, They Call Him OG scored an estimated 100 crore gross on its opening day at the Indian box office, including around 25 crore from premiere shows alone. This stellar start has eclipsed Coolie, which debuted with approximately 77 crore gross just last month. In terms of records, OG now holds the seventh-biggest opening ever for a Telugu film and the eighth-biggest for an Indian movie in the domestic market. In the Telugu states, the film has registered the third-highest opening day, trailing only behind RRR, starring Jr. NTR and Ram Charan, and Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2: The Rule. Meanwhile, at the worldwide box office, OG has grossed around 140 crores, which is in the same range as Jr. NTR's Devara (142 crores) and Thalapathy Vijay's Leo (142.90 crores), featuring among the top 10 biggest Indian openers globally. It has beaten Prabhas' Saaho (130 crores). With this phenomenal start, OG is set to become Pawan Kalyan's highest-grossing film ever as early as its second day, surpassing Bheemla Nayak (158.50 crore lifetime). Needless to say, the film also marks the actor's biggest-ever opening, comfortably beating his earlier release Hari Hara Veera Mallu. Stay tuned...
