Ishaan Khatter and Mrunal Thakur's War Drama 'Pippa' To Skip Theatrical Release?

Mumbai, October 31 - Ishaan Khatter and Mrunal Thakur's war drama film Pippa has been in production for a long time. Directed by Raja Krishna Menon, the movie was supposed to be released in December last year but was postponed due to the delay in the post-production work. ## A few months back, it was revealed that "Pippa" would be shifted to 2024 as the movie is VFX heavy and needed more time for the same. Now, according to the latest reports, the film is skipping theatrical release and will directly be streaming on Amazon Prime Video. ## It is said that the debacle box office performance of Kangana Ranaut-led "Tejas", produced by RSVP Movies, has made RSVP and Roy Kapur Films change the release strategy. The team has reportedly decided to skip the theatrical release and sold it Prime Video for the exclusive OTT debut. The official announcement is expected to be made soon with the trailer. ## "Pippa" is based on the war memoir The Burning Chaffees written by Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta. It tells the story of the intense 48-hour Battle of Garibpur, which was fought on the eastern front during the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971 and which laid the foundation for the impending war. ## Centred around Brigadier Mehta’s 45 Cavalry tank squadron, Pippa’s title refers to the magnificent Russian amphibious war tank, the PT-76, which was lovingly called “Pippa”, since like an empty ghee da dabba it smoothly floated on the water.## The film portrays the coming-of-age of both the young Mehta and our nation, as they both step up to prove themselves in a war for the liberation of another country. Ishaan Khattar and Mrunal Thakur's War Drama 'Pippa' Postponed To 2024?

Mumbai, February 27 - Back in 2020, producer Ronnie Screwvala and Siddharth Roy Kapur came together to announce the war drama movie Pippa, starring Ishaan Khattar and Mrunal Thakur in the lead roles. ## "Airlift" director Raja Krishna Menon helmed the movie, based on the book The Burning Chaffees by Balram Singh Mehta who fought during the Indo-Pak war in 1971. Khattar has played the role of Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta.## The movie was originally announced to release in 2021, before makers postponed it to December 2, 2022, due to the covid-19 pandemic which delayed the shoot. When it was looking on track for December 2022 release, the makers postponed it again due to an unknown reason and they are yet to lock the new release date. ## The makers are eyeing only theatrical release as the film is made for the big screen. Now, according to the latest reports, "Pippa" won't be released anytime soon, and there are chances it will only release in 2024 on the silver screen. ## According to PeepingMoon, "Pippa" has returned to the editing table as the final product failed to match the criteria required to get a go-ahead from the producers. Considering it is an 85-crore project, the makers are reworking on it to make it appealing to a wider audience. ## The film takes its title from the Russian amphibious war tank called the PT-76, popularly known as Pippa. Mumbai, April 11 - The makers of the upcoming war drama movie, "Pippa", starring Ishaan Khatter and Mrunal Thakur in the leads, on Monday (April 11) announced that the shoot wrap for Ishaan, who plays the role of war hero Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta in the movie. ## Based on the book The Burning Chaffees by Balram Singh Mehta who fought during the Indo-Pak war in 1971, "Pippa" is directed by Raja Krishna Menon of Airlift fame while Ronnie Screwvala and Siddharth Roy Kapur will produce it under their respective production banners, RSVP Movies, and Roy Kapur Films.## The movie, which was announced in 2020, is billed as a heroic tank battle film that underscores the bravery of Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta, a veteran of the 45th Cavalry tank squadron, who, along with his siblings, fought on the eastern front during the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971. The battle, called the "Battle of Garibpur", was fought 12 days before India officially joined the war against Pakistan. ## "Pippa" also stars Priyanshu Painyuli and Soni Razdan in prominent roles while maestro AR Rahman has composed the music.
