IMDb Unveils Top 10 Most Popular Indian Movies of 2025 Till July 1st

Mumbai, July 9 - The half of the year has been completed, and IMDb has unveiled the list of the top 10 most popular Indian movies of 2025 so far. The list includes films released between January 1, 2025 and July 1, 2025, that have an average IMDb user rating of 6 or higher with at least 10,000 votes. ## Determined by the actual page views of the more than 250 million monthly visitors to IMDb worldwide, all the top 10 popular films had a theatrical release. Of the top 10 titles, six are Bollywood films, followed by three Tamil films, and one Malayalam movie. ## 1. Chhaava (Hindi) - Directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Maddock Films, the historical action drama features Vicky Kaushal, Rashmika Mandanna, and Akshaye Khanna in the leading roles. It is currently the highest-grossing Indian film with over 800 crores gross collection at the worldwide box office. ## 2. Dragon (Tamil) - Directed by Ashwath Marimuthu and starring Pradeep Ranganathan, Anupama Parameswaran, Kayadu Lohar, Mysskin, and Gautham Vasudev Menon, Dragon is a coming-of-age comedy-drama released on February 21, 2025. It is the second-highest-grossing Tamil movie of the year so far, with over 150 crores worldwide collection. ## 3. Deva (Hindi) - The action thriller film, despite underperforming at the box office, remained one of the most popular Indian movies on IMDb. Directed by Rosshan Andrrews, the movie stars Shahid Kapoor and Pooja Hegde in the leading roles. It grossed around 56 crores worldwide. ## 4. Raid 2 (Hindi) - The crime action thriller, directed by Rajkumar Gupta and starring Ajay Devgn, Riteish Deshmukh, and Vaani Kapoor, is one of the most successful Indian films of the year. The film delivered robust box office numbers, solidifying its success with over 200 cr in domestic gross and earnings of around 237 cr worldwide. ## 5. Retro (Tamil) - The romantic action thriller, starring Suriya and Pooja Hegde, was one of the most anticipated Tamil movies of the year, but it underperformed at the box office, despite grossing close to 100 crores worldwide. Directed by Karthik Subbaraj, Retro is among the most popular Indian titles of the year. ## 6. The Diplomat (Hindi) - John Abraham headlines this political thriller inspired by real events. Directed by Shivam Nair, the film was a decent success at the global box office, grossing over 50 crores gross collection in its full run. ## 7. L2: Empuraan (Malayalam) - The Mohanlal-starrer political action thriller, directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, was the most anticipated Malayalam movie of the year, and delivered box office performance accordingly by emerging as the biggest Malayalam grosser of all-time, with a worldwide collection of over 265 crores gross. John Abraham's 'The Diplomat' Gets A Release Date

Mumbai, July 1 - Actor John Abraham team with "Naam Shabana" director Shivam Nair for a drama film titled The Diplomat. Based on an incredible true story, the film is produced by T-Series, JA Entertainment, Wakaoo Films, Fortune Pictures, and Seeta Films. ## The movie is currently in production and now, the makers have locked the release date. On Saturday, the makers took to social media to announce that "The Diplomat" will be hitting worldwide theaters on January 11, 2024, during the Sankranthi weekend. ## The release date was announced with a poster that reads "A true hero needs no weapon".
