Box Office: 'Inside Out 2' Pulls Off Almost $300 Million Worldwide Opening
Directed by Kelsey Mann, Inside Out 2 scored a mighty $294.2 million (2455 crores) opening weekend at the worldwide box office, pulling off the biggest opening of 2024 beating Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire ($195 million). The final collection of the movie may vary when actuals come tomorrow.
At the domestic (North America), the film grossed a huge $154.2 million (1290 crores), the second-biggest 3-day opening weekend of all-time for an animated movie, behind only Incredibles 2 ($183 million), and the biggest for Hollywood since Margot Robbie's Barbie ($162 million) last year.
Overseas, Inside Out 2 opened in 38 markets this weekend and scored a massive $140 million (1165 crores). For Disney, the global opening of $294+ million is the biggest since Avatar: The Way of Water ($441 million) in 2022. Mexico was the biggest market for the movie outside North America with $30 million, followed by Korea with $15 million and the UK with $14 million. In India, the movie minted approximately 9 crores ($1.07 million).
The sequel to Inside Out (2015) did unthinkable to beat the projection as the box office hadn't been at its best this year for Hollywood. Pixar too was feeling the heat with back-to-back low scores since the Covid-19 pandemic but Inside Out 2 did what other movies couldn't to bring the studio back to its old glory.
