Boxing Legend Mike Tyson To Face YouTube Star Jake Paul In Netflix Livestream

In a match-up that defies expectations, boxing icon Mike Tyson will step back into the ring to take on YouTube personality turned boxer Jake Paul this July on Netflix.

The exhibition bout, set for July 20th at AT&T Stadium in Texas, marks Netflix's foray into live sports broadcasting. This first-of-its-kind event follows a deal signed by Paul's company with the streaming giant last November.

Tyson, 58, last entered the ring in November 2020 for an exhibition match against Roy Jones Jr. – a full 15 years after his official retirement. More recently, he has dabbled in professional wrestling, most recently appearing for AEW in 2022. Despite this, Tyson has expressed a preference for working with WWE, even at a lower financial offer.

Meanwhile, Paul (27, 9-1) has carved a niche for himself in the boxing world. The former YouTube star has garnered fame by defeating past-their-prime MMA fighters seeking a lucrative payday, including Anderson Silva, Ben Askren, and Tyron Woodley.

Details surrounding the Tyson-Paul bout remain murky. It's unclear whether the fight will be a sanctioned professional event or an exhibition, and the number of rounds, glove size, and fighter payouts haven't been disclosed.

This spectacle precedes WWE's own live streaming venture, scheduled to launch in January with Raw in the US and all WWE content internationally.
