Akshay Kumar's 'Khel Khel Mein' Scored Lesser Than 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan' Viewership On Netflix

BY SACNILK

Mumbai, October 23 - Akshay Kumar's comedy-drama Khel Khel Mein, directed by Mudassar Aziz, scored an underwhelming viewership in the first two weeks on Netflix despite the positive critics' reviews.## The movie generated 7.4 million views in the first 10 days, which included 4 million views in the opening weekend and 3.4 million views in the full second week. It has failed to beat Akshay and Tiger Shroff's Bade Miyan Chote Miyan which minted 8 million views in 10 days. ## Interestingly, the viewership of Khel Khel Mein dipped in the second week, unlike BMCM where viewership grew after the first weekend. The critics' response has also been opposite to both movies as BMCM was blasted by critics. ## Khel Khel Mein was originally released in theatres on August 15 this year, however, it performed underwhelming at the box office, grossing approximately 57 crores worldwide. BMCM was also a theatrical release first but got bombed at the box office with around 110 crores worldwide collection. ## Among the films released on Netflix this year after their theatrical releases, Khel Khel Mein's viewership is the 9th highest after the first 2 weeks. Akshay has 2 films in the top 10, however, the overall viewership has been underwhelming. ## Stay tuned...

August 2024 Indian Box Office Report

BY SACNILK

Mumbai, September 5 - August 2024 show some of the most-awaited films getting released but none could leave a mark at the Indian box office, except for mega-blockbuster success of Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao-fronted horror-comedy Stree 2, along with Tamil movies Demonte Colony 2, and Raayan, and Telugu title Saripodhaa Sanivaaram.## Despite the mixed bag of successes, August proved to be the biggest-grossing month of the year (so far) at the Indian box office, thanks to the monstrous contribution from Stree 2. The IBO delivered approximately 1100 crores gross collection in August, with almost 50% contribution from Stree 2.## Amar Kaushik's directorial was easily the highest-grossing film in India in Independence Day month, with an approximate gross collection of 540 crores, almost 13X of the second biggest grosser of the month, Vikram-starrer Tamil movie Thangalaan which grossed approximately 42 crores.## There were 3 major Bollywood releases in August, and other than Stree 2, Akshay Kumar-fronted comedy drama Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham's action thriller Vedaa proved to be failures with approximately 33 crores gross, and 25 crores gross, respectively. ## Among the Telugu titles, Double iSmart and Mr. Bachchan ended up as huge disasters while the only saving grace for the industry came towards the end of the month in the form of Nani-starrer Saripodhaa Sanivaaram which was the highest-grossing Telugu movie in August with 26 crores gross (3 days only).## For Tamil, other than Thangalaan which underperformed, it was Dhanush-starrer Raayan which released in July with a blockbuster collection and continued the momentum in August to add another 36 crores gross collection to its total and was the biggest Tamil grosser of the month. Horror thriller Demonte Colony 2 also proved to be a success with approximately 35 crores gross in Tamil. ## The total domestic collection in August was the highest of the year, beating January which delivered approximately 1025 crores in gross collection in India. Going forward, the last two months of the year have multiple blockbusters lined up for release and are expected to compete to emerge as the biggest month of the year at the Indian box office.## Stay tuned...

The Indian Box Office Grosses 350+ Crore During Independence Day Weekend 2024; 'Stree 2' Leads With 230 Crore Gross

BY SACNILK

Mumbai, August 19 - The Indian Box Office delivered 350+ crores gross collection during the Independence Day weekend (August 15-18). Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao-fronted horror-comedy Stree 2 led the pack with a monstrous 230 crore gross, which is almost 2/3 of the total collection. ## Directed by Amar Kaushik, Stree 2 has had the second-biggest opening weekend of 2024 in India after Prabhas-fronted Kalki 2898 AD which grossed approximately 370 crores in its 4-day first weekend. While Kalki 2898 AD was a multilingual movie, Stree 2 was in just the Hindi language. ## Apart from Stree 2, the other movies failed to capitalise on the big opportunity during the long weekend. Chiyaan Vikram's Thangalaan was the second biggest domestic grosser with approximately 33.75 crores collection which is underwhelming. The fellow Tamil title Demonte Colony 2, however, performed well with approximately 17.75 crores gross against minimum expectations.## Akshay Kumar's Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham-fronted Vedaa, which were expected to do well during the Holiday period, failed without making much noise with approximately 17 crores gross and 16.50 crores gross domestic collection, respectively. ## The other two films which failed miserably at the box office are the Telugu movies, Double iSmart and Mr. Bachchan which grossed approximately 13.75 crores and 9.50 crores, respectively. Malayalam movies, Vaazha - Biopic of a Billion Boys and Nunakkuzhi contributed approximately 12.50+ crores gross.## Stay tuned...

Box Office: 'Khel Khel Mein' And 'Vedaa' Opening Day Early Estimates

BY SACNILK

Mumbai, August 15 - Amid the box office juggernaut of Stree 2, Akshay Kumar-fronted comedy drama Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham-starrer action drama Vedaa were battling it out to come second and it is the latter one which won the race by a fair margin.## According to the early estimates, the John Abraham-led scored in the range of 6.50-7 crores net on its opening day. It is a fair opening considering a 3-way clash. It was always going to be difficult for the movie to score due to Stree 2 which was easily the first choice of the moviegoers but Vedaa did decently overcome that challenge.## The occupancy of Vedaa showed improvement throughout the opening day, especially post-noon shows. The opening of the film is above the projections by a decent margin which can be seen as a good sign. The initial word of mouth seems to be mixed and it needs to be seen how it fairs in the coming days.## Akshay Kumar's Khel Khel Mein showed a significant improvement over the actor's last movie Sarfira but the overall opening remained low to the standard of Akshay who has continuously delivered very good starts at the box office.## According to the early estimates, the comedy-drama scored in the range of 5 crores net on its first day which is in sync with projections. The movie started slow in the morning shows but showed significant improvement post that with occupancy around 50%. ## The initial word of mouth for Khel Khel Mein seems to be okay and it should see improvement, especially on Saturday and Sunday which needs to be seen.## Stay tuned...

Akshay Kumar's 'Khel Khel Mein' and John Abraham-Starrer 'Vedaa' Opening Day Box Office Expectations

BY SACNILK

Mumbai, August 14 - Amid the juggernaut of Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao's Stree 2, this Independence Day weekend will see Akshay Kumar-fronted Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham's Vedaa will fight it out to come second at the box office. ## Akshay returns to his forte comedy genre in which he has scored many successes but all are not the same this time. The actor is coming after a series of unsuccessful films and to turn the tide, he will have hope for a change in fortune and hope the film turns out to be a really good one. ## As said, the opening of Khel Khel Mein is expected to be low considering the pre-sales which are better than Akshay's last film Sarfira but overall remains low. As of 8 PM on August 14, the movie has sold approximately 29K tickets with approx. 1 crore gross for the opening day.## The final opening day pre-sales of the movie are expected to be in the range of 1.50 crores gross which indicates the opening in the range of 4-5 crores net. The Independence Day holiday will provide some boost but that is unlikely to make much difference to the overall opening. ## Vedaa reunites John Abraham with director Nikkhil Advani since Batla House (2019) which was also released on August 15. While Batla House scored a very good opening of 15+ crores net 5 years ago, things are a lot different this time around. ## The pre-sales of Vedaa are almost similar to Khel Khel Mein though it has sold more tickets (39K as of 8 PM) so far. The movie's opening is expected to be in the same range as Akshay-starrer, however, the action genre might attract more footfalls in mass centres which can boost the collection a little more. ## There is a long holiday period coming up, but Khel Khel Mein and Vedaa will need a unanimously positive reception from the audience to make the most of it, unlike Stree 2 which will open, at least, 3X of the combined total of the other two movies. ## Stay tuned...
