Weekend Box Office: Marathi Film 'Pawankhind' Scored Big; 'Badhaai Do' Showed Growth

Mumbai, February 21 - The Indian Marathi cinema has been on a roll for the last few months with back-to-back box office success. After earning hit status with films like Jhimma, and Pandu, the recently released Marathi movies, "Lochya Zaala Re", and "Pawankhind" are putting strong show at the box office. ## Pawankhind, directed by Digpal Lanjekar, is particularly has created riots at the box office and become another Marathi success story. Released on February 18, the historical drama kept mounting over the weekend after taking a start of over Rs. 1 crore. After Rs. 1.15 crore on Friday, the film showed a jump of 80% for Rs. 2.08 crores on Saturday and later closed the weekend with Rs. 2.80 crore (+34%) on Sunday, taking a 3-day total to Rs. 6.08 crores. ## Based on the life of Maratha warrior, Baji Prabhu Deshpande, "Pawankhind" has done very well in the B and C centers where it recorded Housefull shows at the single screens. The first-week collection of Chinmay Mandlekar-starrer is eyeing to finish over Rs. 10 crores, which will be a phenomenal result for the makers. The budget for the film is in the range of Rs. 7-10 crores. ## Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar-fronted social comedy-drama "Badhaai Do" showed an upward trend over the second weekend. After collecting Rs. 75 lakh on the second Friday, the Harshavardhan Kulkarni-directed jumped by 105% on the second Saturday for Rs. 1.54 crores, followed by a 29.87% jump on the second Sunday for Rs. 2 crores. The total 10-days domestic collection of "Badhaai Do" stands at Rs. 16.89 crores. Overseas, the film has grossed approx. 3 crores so far. ## Serving as a spiritual sequel to the 2018 film "Badhaai Ho", "Badhaai Do" revolves around a couple in a lavender marriage. The movie received positive reviews from critics, praising the performances of the lead cast, direction, and theme. Opening Day Collection of Indian Films Released On Valentine Weekend

Mumbai, 13th Feb 2022: The box office has restarted today with many releases at the ticket window. The flow of releases which stopped for a while after the Xmas period has seen new releases on the ongoing weekend. Though there was not a single major release except Ravi Teja's Khiladi, it is always a positive sign when many small films are running in the cinemas. ## Speaking about the box office collections on 11th February, Khiladi fronted by Ravi Teja has come out as a winner with a 7.85 Cr Gross opening day collection however, looking at the size of the film Khiladi is, the opening is decent only. ## The next best collections came from FIR with a 2.20 Cr Gross collection. Badhaai Do which was a mid-sized film from the Hindi film industry has collected a 1.95 Cr gross opening day collection. Love Mocktail 2 has collected a gross of 1.70 Cr on opening day at the box office. ## Movies with the highest single-day collections today (11th February) ## 1. Khiladi: 7.85 Cr ## 2. Rajkumar Rao And Bhumi Pednekar's 'Badhaai Do' Cleared To Release In UAE Excluding Sharjah

Mumbai, February 12 - Rajkumar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar-starrer "Badhaai Do" has been cleared to release in the United Arab Emirates, however, it will not be screened in Sharjah. ## "Badhaai Do", which revolves around a lavender wedding of convenience, has been permitted to screen only night shows in the rest of the parts of the UAE apart from Sharjah, for people aged over 21 years. ## The LGBTQ+ theme movies and shows are not acceptable in Middle East countries. Last year, Marvel Studios' "Eternals", directed by Chloe Zhao, was banned in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Jordan, because of the refusal of its makers to delete certain gay-themed scenes. The UAE, however, had allowed the film's release. ## Although 'Badhaai Do' has no obvious expressions of same-sex love, as in the case of the 'Eternals' characters Ben and Phastos kissing each other, it clearly has an LGBTQ+ theme, which is not acceptable in the Middle East.## In an interview with PTI, "Badhaai Do" director Hashvardhan Kulkarni said that the film is an attempt to normalize the discourse around the queer community and break certain stereotypes attached with their representation in cinema.## Produced by Junglee Pictures, "Badhaai Do", which is the sequel to 2018's "Badhaai Ho", released theatrically on February 11.## Stay tuned...

Bhumi Pednekar Gears Up For A Jam-Packed Year With Half A Dozen Releases

Mumbai, January 27 - Actress Bhumi Pednekar, who was last seen in "Durgamati" in 2020, had not a single release in the following year due to the covid-19 pandemic. The "Bala" actress, however, has the jam-packed year of 2022 with as many as six releases, if all goes per plan. ## To begin with, Bhumi is gearing up for the release of the social dramedy "Badhaai Do". This Harshavardhan Kulkarni-directed serves as a spiritual sequel to the 2018 film "Badhaai Ho". Co-starring Rajkummar Rao, "Badhaai Do" is about a couple in a lavender marriage. Produced by Junglee Pictures, the movie is slated for February 11 release in theaters. ## Apart from "Badhaai Do", Bhumi has five more films lined up to release this year. She has a romantic comedy "Govinda Naam Mera", co-starring Vicky Kaushal, and Kiara Advani, then she has "Raksha Bandhan", which reunites her with Akshay Kumar after their blockbuster "Toilet: Ek Prem Katha". Rajkummar Rao And Bhumi Pednekar Starrer 'Badhaai Do' Sets Republic Day 2022 Weekend Release In Theaters

Mumbai, October 30 - Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar-starrer family comedy-drama film "Badhaai Do" has been announced to release in theaters during the Republic Day 2022 weekend. Directed by Harshavardhan Kulkarni, "Badhaai Do" serves as a spiritual sequel to the 2018 film Badhaai Ho.## "When it comes to family entertainers especially comedy films, cinema is the ideal platform as they can be enjoyed with the entire family", said director Harshavardhan Kulkarni.## "We are super excited to bring 'Badhaai Do' in cinema halls on the Republic Day weekend. It's a wholesome entertainer and I really hope the audiences would enjoy watching the movie as much as we enjoyed creating it", he added. ## Produced by Junglee Pictures, the film marks the first collaboration between Rao and Bhumi, who will be essaying the role of a cop in a Mahila police thana, Bhumi plays the role of a PT teacher in the film, respectively.
