Dwayne Johnson Reportedly Returns To The 'Fast and Furious' Franchise

Los Angeles, May 13 - The Fast and Furious saga is one step closer to its end but it can't get done without one of the franchise's biggest assets, Dwayne Johnson. ## Dwayne Johnson, who last appeared in the Fast & Furious spin-off "Hobbs & Shaw" in 2019, previously told that he would never be making his comeback in the franchise, but it seems that has become a thing of the past as according to The Wrap, the Hollywood superstar is all set for one final ride in the franchise.## As per the report, Dwayne Johnson has returned to the "Fast and Furious" franchise, making an appearance in the post-credits sequence for the upcoming Fast X, which releases next week on May 19.## The return of The Rock may surprise many as he was adamant about not making a comeback to the blockbuster action series after having some issues with Vin Diesel, the star and producer of the franchise. Diesel, however, requested Johnson to put the issues aside and come back to the series, in an Instagram post in November 2021.## In another surprising news, there could be the 12th film in the franchise after Vin Diesel said that Universal Pictures has asked if "Fast X" could be turned into a trilogy. Los Angeles, May 9 - India's international star Priyanka Chopra's Hollywood movie Love Again failed to make an impact at the box office in its opening weekend. ## Directed by James C. Strouse, the romantic comedy-drama film flopped after taking just a $2.38 million start in its 3-day domestic (North America) opening weekend from 2,703 theaters. The movie doesn't seem to be having a long life at the box office after poor critics and audience scores. ## The remake of the 2016 German film "SMS für Dich", "Love Again" earned a poor "B" CinemaScore and holds 19% on Rotten Tomatoes from 21 critics though the audience score on RT is on the higher side at 93% from 100+ users.## "Love Again" was projected to score $5 million - $10 million in its opening weekend but it failed to top even the lower point of projections. Luckily for Sony Pictures, the movie only cost $9 million to produce. John Wick Franchise Passed $1 Billion At The Global Box Office

Los Angeles, May 20 - Lionsgate Films' action thriller franchise John Wick has crossed the $1 billion mark at the global box office through the 4 films released so far in the series. ## John Wick is one of the most profitable action film franchises of all time. The combined budget of the 4 films in the series is around $230 million while the total gross collection now stands at $1.01 billion, including $425 million for the 4th installment. ## The first film in the series, "John Wick" was released in 2014 and grossed $87.08 million at the global box office against a budget of around $20 million. The domestic and overseas grosses of the film were almost similar at $43 million and $44.08 million, respectively. ## The sequel to "John Wick" debuted in 2017 and cost around $40 million to bring to the big screen. The movie topped the grosses of the first film by more than double margin and scored $171.50 million worldwide, including $92 million domestically and $79.50 million overseas. ## The trade of topping the collection of its predecessor continued with "John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum" (2019) which breached the $200 million as well as $300 million mark for the franchise globally. Marvel Studios 'Blade' Production Set To Be Delayed Due To Writers Strike

Los Angeles, May 6 - The writers' strike in the USA has started taking a toll on upcoming films, including Marvel movies. ## According to THR, Marvel Studios has stopped the pre-production work on its upcoming vampire thriller feature film Blade starring Mahershala Ali. Global Box Office Forcast Increased To $32 Billion For 2023

Los Angeles, April 24 - The happy days for the box office are back!## After projecting the global box office to reach $29 billion in 2023 in December 2022, Gower Street Analytics has increased its projection to $32 billion after an excellent response in the first quarter of the year. (via Deadline)## The London-based firm released its updated forecast on the evening of CinemaCon, the annual gathering of theater owners and Hollywood studios in Las Vegas. The forecast has been increased seeing films exceeding projections, led by "The Super Mario Bros Movie" which is running towards the coveted $1 billion mark. ## If the $32 billion projection for 2023 holds, this would represent an approximate 23% improvement on 2022, while still trailing the three pre-pandemic years (2017-2019) by 20% on average. ## Out of the $32 billion, the company is estimating the international box office (outside Hollywood) to reach $23 billion, including $6.8 billion in China. The North America box office projection is about $9 billion, approx. 20% improvement from 2022. ## The box office forecast for 2023 by Gower Street Analytics is based on the release calendar as it currently stands. The box office in 2017 was $40.9B, followed by $41.8B in 2018, and $42.3B in 2019, as per Gower.
