Box Office: Mani Ratnam's Epic Blockbuster 'Ponniyin Selvan - Part 1' Crosses 400 Crores Worldwide
Chennai, October 10 - Filmmaker Mani Ratnam's epic blockbuster Ponniyin Selvan - Part 1 has joined Indian blockbusters, RRR, KGF: Chapter 2, Vikram, and Brahmastra Part One - Shiva to cross 400 crores at the worldwide box office in 2022.## Based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's 1955 novel of the same name, "PS-1" is the third Tamil film of all-time to cross 400 crores worldwide, after Rajinikanth's "2.0", and the recent blockbuster "Vikram" starring Kamal Haasan. In India, it has grossed approx. 254 crores through the second Sunday while, overseas, the collection is slightly higher than expected with around 147 crores in 10 days. He has truly hit the ball out of the park with this one which showcases Tamil history. ## The movie dramatizes the early life of Chola prince Arulmozhi Varman, who would become the renowned emperor Rajaraja I (947–1014). It stars an ensemble cast including Jayam Ravi in the title role, Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Trisha, Jayaram, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, and Prabhu, among others in key roles.## Stay tuned...
