Dulquer Salmaan Joins Malayalam Stars Mohanlal, Fahadh Faasil, And Prithviraj To Take Non-Theatrical Route For 'Salute'
Kochi, March 8 - Mollywood star, Dulquer Salmaan has joined the long list of Malayalam stars to take the non-theatrical route for his upcoming cop crime thriller film, "Salute", which is slated to premiere directly on SonyLiv.## Dulquer Salmaan was one of the few top Malayalam stars left with no direct OTT release yet, and now, he is also joining the likes of superstar Mohanlal, Fahadh Faasil, and Prithviraj Sukumaran in taking the digital route. ## Interestingly, "Salute" was slated for theatrical release in January this year. But due to the 3rd covid-19 wave, the makers postponed it with a promise to release it in theaters only. The Rosshan Andrrews-directed, however, will now be released on SonyLiv on March 18. While his Malayalam film "Kurup" became a big box office hit, his follow-up, a romantic-comedy titled "Hey Sinamika", couldn't find the audiences at the box office. It was, however, released in Tamil, and Telugu. ## Talking about "Salute", it is written by Bobby-Sanjay and produced by Dulquer Salmaan under his banner Wayfarer Films. The film marks Diana Penty's Malayalam debut as the female lead opposite Salmaan. It also stars Manoj K. Jayan, Lakshmi Gopalaswamy, Saikumar, Vijayakumar, among others in key roles.## In the film, Aravind Karunakaran (Dulquer Salmaan), a voluntarily retired S.I. in the Kerala Police, is haunted by an old unsolved murder case he investigated while in service.
