Mumbai, June 9 - Producer Sajid Nadiadwala's comedy entertainer Housefull 5, starring superstar Akshay Kumar along with others, scored a very good opening weekend at the domestic and worldwide box office with around 140 crores gross collection. ## Housefull 5 hit the big screen on June 6 amid high expectations, and it didn't disappoint at the box office. The movie took one of the biggest openings for a Bollywood title of the year, followed by a solid hold on Saturday and Sunday. ## Directed by Tarun Mansukhani, the comic caper has grossed approximately 104.50 crores at the domestic box office, which is the biggest Friday to Sunday opening weekend for an Akshay Kumar-starrer, and overall, the second biggest opening weekend for the actor after Mission Mangal (115 crore gross in 4 days). ## Overseas, Housefull 5 has grossed an estimated 35 crores for the worldwide total of around 140 crores, which is again the biggest 3-day opening global opening weekend for Akki. For the 2025 Bollywood movie, it was the second biggest weekend, behind Chhaava (165 crore gross). ## The opening weekend results for Housefull 5 are very good and show that the movie has found acceptance among the moviegoers. Mumbai, June 8 - Superstar Akshay Kumar's Housefull 5 has a very good opening weekend at the domestic box office after another solid day on Sunday, as collections are in the same range as Saturday, with estimates suggesting collection to be 31-32 crores net. ## Normally, Bollywood film scores jump in collection on Sundays over Saturdays, but in the case of Housefull 5, there was a holiday on Saturday due to Bakrid, which boosted the collection to some extent. The holiday factor balanced things up otherwise, the movie could have soon a 10%-15% jump today. ## The opening weekend collection (86-87 crores net) of Housefull 5 is now the biggest first weekend for Akshay Kumar after the Covid-19 pandemic, beating Sooryavanshi (77 crores net). ## The trend for the movie during the opening weekend has been very good, which shows it has found acceptance among the moviegoers despite the mixed critics' reviews. Hyderabad, June 8 - Director Gopichand Malineni has reunited with Telugu veteran Nandamuri Balakrishna for a historical epic film, tentatively titled NBK 111. The duo previously collaborated on Veera Simha Reddy, which was released in January 2023 and emerged as a box office hit. ## The announcement of NBK 111 was made on Sunday, June 10, with a poster featuring a lion with a half mask. It will be produced by Venkata Satish Kilaru of Vriddhi Cinemas, the banner currently backing Peddi with superstar Ram Charan. ## While the details about the project are not revealed yet, it is said that it will be a historical action drama. Mumbai, June 7 - After one of the biggest openings for a Bollywood movie of 2025, superstar Akshay Kumar-fronted comic caper Housefull 5 witnessed a growth of 25%-30% on its second day, which also happens to be Bakrid holiday. ## According to early estimates, the film is expected to score in the range of 29-31 crore net collection on Saturday, which pushes its total collection to around 54 crores net in 2 days, with the opening weekend likely to be 85-90 crores net, which is a very good result. ## The movie is performing best in centres like Delhi, UP, Bihar, while other centres like Gujarat and Rajasthan are also showing improvement. The film witnessed a good jump means the reports are positive among the targeted audience, which is a good sign. ## The film has benefited from franchise value, and with good reports, there is a good chance it will score decent to good hold on Monday, which is crucial for the film's success. Hyderabad, June 7 - SS Rajamouli's epic and path-breaking blockbuster Baahubali is returning to the big screen, but with a big twist. Baahubali - The Beginning was released in 2015, before the second part, Baahubali - The Conclusion, stormed the box office in 2017. ## Baahubali will be turning a decade old in July this year, and to celebrate this big occasion, producer Shobu Yarlagadda has recently announced its re-release worldwide in October 2025. While the date is not disclosed yet, the film may hit the big screen on or around the birthday of Prabhas, who headlined this epic. ## According to the report by Gulte.com, both parts of Baahubali will be released in a one epic cut, instead of re-releasing separately. The makers are reportedly working on combining Baahubali - The Beginning and The Conclusion into a single, trimmed-down version. ## This new strategy of re-releasing both parts as a single film can be exciting for fans, as the aim is to once again deliver a seamless cinematic experience to audiences worldwide. ## Baahubali is the franchise which put Telugu cinema on the global map. Hyderabad, June 6 - Bollywood star Deepika Padukone has officially confirmed to be on board director Atlee's next. The actress joins superstar Allu Arjun in this ambitious sci-fi actioner, to be produced by Kalanithi Maran under the banner of Sun Pictures. ## The announcement was made on Saturday with a special video featuring behind-the-scenes footage. In the video, director Atlee is discussing the script with Deepika, followed by a look test of the actress in a studio. It shows Deepika riding a horse with a sword in her hand. ## The video is almost identical in style to the one released for Allu Arjun when the film was announced in April this year. Both the announcement videos show the ambitious plans Atlee has for the movie, and this will escalate the buzz further. ## ## Tentatively titled AA22xA6, the film marks Deepika's second film with Atlee after the mega blockbuster Jawan, in which the actress played an extended role. The details about the actress's role are not revealed yet, but going by the announcement, it looks like she will be seen doing action in the movie. ## The film is reportedly set across parallel universes in which Allu Arjun plays a dual role for the first time in his career. Chennai, June 7 - Indian cinema legends, actor Kamal Haasan and director Mani Ratnam reunited after 38 years for a gangster action drama film Thug Life, which hit the big screen on June 5. The reunion of the two was expected to script a blockbuster, but things have turned into a nightmare for the duo. ## Thug Life was a keenly awaited film, and it generated some hype with decent to good pre-sales. However, despite the big promises, everything has gone wrong for the film since its release, and it seems that the audience has outrightly rejected it. ## The word of mouth for the movie has been poor from the first show, which resulted in below than the expected opening, followed by a big drop on the second day as the total collection of the movie is around 50 crore gross after 2 days. ## Even though there is a holiday on Saturday and Sunday, the chances of a rebound for the movie are almost out of the equation. The audience reception is poor, as the current Google rating for the movie is under 3 out of 10, while IMDb ratings are below 5, which has made things worse and will continue to do so. ## The Google and IMDb ratings of Thug Life are among the lowest for the film in its opening weekend, and it is going down rapidly. There are chances the movie will likely finish under 100 crore gross collection at the worldwide box office. Mumbai, June 6 - Akshay Kumar-fronted Housefull 5 has taken a good start at the domestic box office. The movie has easily scored the biggest opening of the Housefull franchise, which was expected given the pre-release hype and buzz around it. ## According to early estimates, the comedy entertainer is looking to score in the range of 22-24 crores net collection on its first day. The collection can go a little higher depending on the response in the smaller centres, which needs to be seen. ## The expectations from the movie were higher than what it got on the first day, but the advance booking trend has done well, as the opening is in the range that pre-sales suggest, with the condition that it should see the strong response in the spot bookings, which happened. ## Irrespective of where the final collection lands in the estimated range, Housefull 5 has scored the biggest opening of the franchise, beating Housefull 4 (19 crore net). Mumbai, June 6 - Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar's Kesari: Chapter 2 is completing 50 days in theatres, emerging as one of the very few Indian films of the year to this much longevity. It is directed by debutante Karan Singh Tyagi and produced by Dharma Productions, in association with Leo Media Collective and Cape of Good Films. ## Even as Akshay Kumar moves to the new release in the form of Housefull 5, it is Kesari 2, which proved to be one of the few successes the actor has had post the Covid-19 pandemic. It has minted approximately 145 crore worldwide collection so far and is among the top 5 biggest Bollywood grossers of the year. ## No one had expected Kesari 2 to perform well at the box office, as the trade almost rejected it before the release. However, the movie put all the conservative trade projections to the dustbin, and emerged as a victorious at the box office despite the targeted negativity towards it. ## It can be argued that the overall box office result of Kesari 2 is not up to the level Akshay has set over the years, but it must be admitted that it was among the films which was least expected to perform well. The title change nearly a month before the release did play its part, but the movie also struck a chord with the audience, resulting in a success at the ticket window. ## Kesari 2 is one of the most memorable films in Akshay's career and easily the best-reviewed movie of the actor in the recent past. It is a spiritual sequel to the historical action film Kesari (2019), and its plot is based on the book The Case That Shook The Empire by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat. The movie is centred around C. Sankaran Nair and the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre. ## The film stars Akshay Kumar as Nair, a lawyer who fought against the mighty British Empire to reveal the truth behind the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, and also features R. Mumbai, June 6 - Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar-led comedy entertainer Housefull 5 hits the big screen today, June 6, amid huge anticipation. Directed by Tarun Mansukhani, it is the costliest film of the franchise, and the expectations are huge from this at the box office. ## Housefull 5 scored one of the biggest advances of the year for a Bollywood title, with approximately 2.50 lakh tickets sold worth approximately 8 crore gross collection (without block seat) for the opening day. The pre-sales, however, are not as big as it was expected given the franchise value and huge star cast. ## Despite pre-sales falling short of expectations, Housefull 5 is eying the record opening in the franchise. In comparison to one of the recent films, Sikandar, the advance booking of HF5 is slightly behind, but it needs to be noted that the Salman Khan-starrer had a Sunday release. ## It has also been observed that the Housefull franchise is not usually an advance-heavy franchise and has relied on spot bookings, and this seems to be the case with the latest instalment. The urgency in booking tickets is much higher on the release day than on the previous days, which shows the strong response in spot booking. ## At this point, Housefull 5 is looking to score the biggest opening of the franchise, beating Housefull 4, which scored around 19 crore net. Mumbai, June 5 - Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan and Tamil director Lokesh Kanagaraj are officially teaming up for the first time. The project in question has been in the news since last year, when it was reported that the duo would collaborate on two films, including a full-fledged one. ## Usually, Aamir Khan decides on his next film after the release of the in-production title, but this time, the actor already has a couple of films in the pipeline. He is gearing up for the release of "Sitaare Zameen Par", which is set to hit the big screen on June 20. ## Recently, the Dangal star announced his reunion with director Rajkumar Hirani for the biopic of Dadasaheb Phalke, who is known as the father of Indian cinema, and now he has confirmed another project, this time with Lokesh Kangaraj. ## When asked about a film with Lokesh Kanagaraj, he replied during a group interaction with journalists, "Lokesh and I are working on a film. It belongs to the superhero genre. It's a big-scale action film and will go on floors in the second half of 2026". ## There were rumours that Aamir Khan and Rajkumar Hirani also discussed "PK 2"; however, the actor has denied it and said it is just a rumour.
