Bengaluru, June 3 - Kamal Haasan's action drama Thug Life release has been stalled in Karnataka after the actor refused to apologise for his language remarks, which allegedly hurt the sentiments of Kannadigas. ## During the audio launch event of his film Thug Life, Kamal Haasan stated that the Kannada language was born out of the Tamil language. The actor's remarks led to a big controversy among the people of Karnataka and the Film Chamber, who threatened to stall the release of the film in the state if he didn't apologise. ## Haasan had refused to apologise and filed a petition in the Karnataka High Court seeking protection and to allow the film's release. The High Court, however, also orally advised Haasan to issue an apology for the remarks, as it hurt the sentiments of the people of Karnataka, according to Live Law. ## The actor filed a reply in the court, on which the court orally said, "There is no apology in it. You may be Kamal Haasan or anybody, but you cannot hurt the sentiments of the masses. The division of this country is on linguistic lines. A public figure cannot make such statements. What has happened because of it is unrest, disharmony. People of Karnataka only asked for an apology. Now you come here seeking protection". ## Haasan stated in his reply that he had "no malice" towards the Kannada language and proposed to have a dialogue with the Film Chamber. Mumbai, June 3 - The much-awaited comedy entertainer Housefull 5, starring superstar Akshay Kumar, is all set to hit the big screen on June 6, and it is going to be the first of its kind film for its genre as well as for Akshay. ## Housefull 5 is the fifth instalment of the blockbuster franchise, and according to the reports, it is set to be the widest release for the franchise. It is said that the film will be released on over 5000 screens across the country. Overseas, it will release on over 2000 screens. This makes it the widest release for Akshay as well as for the comedy genre in India. ## It is to be noted that Housefull 5 will clash with Kamal Haasan's Thug Life (June 5), and despite that, the former has managed to lock a huge screen count nationwide. If the movie manages to get positive word of mouth, then it has all the ingredients to become the highest-grossing film of the franchise. ## Apart from getting the huge release, Housefull 5 is also the costliest film of the series. Mumbai, June 2 - Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise has delivered again at the Indian box office as his latest blockbuster Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning (M:I 8) has topped 100 crore gross collection, following the big success of the previous film of the franchise. ## Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, the spy action thriller hit the milestone in 16 days as the total collection of the film stands at around 106 crore gross through the third Sunday (16 days). It now needs another 25 crore gross to top Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One (131+ crore) to become the highest-grossing film of the franchise in India. ## The Final Reckoning is only the second movie of Tom Cruise to hit 100 crore gross in India. The movie, however, needs to score strongly in the coming days to surpass the previous film, which will not be easy as legs are weakening, and there will be competition with new releases. ## At the worldwide box office, Mission: Impossible 8 has crossed $350 million. It has grossed $353 million (3020 crore), including $231 million (1975 crore) at the overseas box office and $122.5 million (1045 crore) in North America. Mumbai, June 2 - Yash Raj Films' action thriller Dhoom 4 is among the most-anticipated Bollywood movies. It was announced many moons back, but there hasn't been much development until recently, when it was reported that Ranbir Kapoor was roped in to play the lead role. ## According to the latest report by Pinkvilla, the script of Dhoom 4 is currently being developed at YRF. Aditya Chopra, along with writer Shridhar Raghavan, has teamed up to lock in the script for Dhoom 4, and they are working on a story draft worthy of the hype surrounding the blockbuster. ## It is reported that the shoot for Dhoom 4 is expected to commence in April 2026, with the makers aiming to complete it by the end of the year for a 2027 release. Mumbai, June 2 - Superstar Mahesh Babu's fantasy action comedy Khaleja has exceeded expectations in its opening weekend and has become the highest as well as the first double-digit Telugu re-release grosser at the worldwide box office. ## Directed by Trivikram Srinivas, Khaleja was re-released on May 30 amid the huge hype, and it scored the third biggest opening for a South Indian re-release film with approximately 6.75 crores gross. The movie scored good hold on the second day to earn around 2 crore gross, followed by around 1.50 crore gross on Sunday. ## Khaleja grossed approximately 10.25 crores in its opening weekend worldwide, including around 9 crores gross in India and 1.25 crores overseas. Mumbai, June 1 - Netflix has finally announced the release date(s) of its highly anticipated sci-fi Stranger Things 5, which is the final season of one of the streamer's most successful series. ## On Sunday (June 1) IST, Netflix announced that the final season of Stranger Things will debut in three parts, with Volume 1 debuting on November 26, followed by Volume 2 on Christmas (December 25) and Volume 3 on New Year's Eve (December 31). ## The announcement was made during Netflix's Tudum fan event at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, with stars Finn Wolfhard, Caleb McLaughlin, and Noah Schnapp running through some look-back clips before revealing the dates for season five via a teaser, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. ## The streamer had earlier announced that there will be a total of 8 episodes in the final season of the blockbuster show. After scoring one of the biggest advances for an Indian re-release title, the movie exceeded expectations on the first day. ## The fantasy action comedy film clocked over 3 crore pre-sales for the opening day in India, and with a fantastic response on spot booking, the film scored approximately 5.75 crores gross domestically on the first day. Los Angeles, May 31 - Superstar Mahesh Babu's fantasy action comedy Khaleja was re-released worldwide on May 30 and opened to an excellent collection all over. The movie created a huge buzz and scored one of the biggest pre-sales for an Indian re-release title. ## Directed by Trivikram Srinivas, Khaleja has created a record at the North American box office, becoming the highest-grossing Indian re-release movie in just one day.
