Mumbai, June 6 - Akshay Kumar-fronted Housefull 5 has taken a good start at the domestic box office. The movie has easily scored the biggest opening of the Housefull franchise, which was expected given the pre-release hype and buzz around it. ## According to early estimates, the comedy entertainer is looking to score in the range of 22-24 crores net collection on its first day. The collection can go a little higher depending on the response in the smaller centres, which needs to be seen. ## The expectations from the movie were higher than what it got on the first day, but the advance booking trend has done well, as the opening is in the range that pre-sales suggest, with the condition that it should see the strong response in the spot bookings, which happened. ## Irrespective of where the final collection lands in the estimated range, Housefull 5 has scored the biggest opening of the franchise, beating Housefull 4 (19 crore net). It is also the biggest opening in the comedy genre, which is a good result. ## The film is expected to see a higher than regular jump on Saturday due to the Bakrid holiday and then another strong hold on Sunday, as the opening weekend can be around 75 crores net. ## Stay tuned...

Mumbai, June 6 - Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar's Kesari: Chapter 2 is completing 50 days in theatres, emerging as one of the very few Indian films of the year to this much longevity. It is directed by debutante Karan Singh Tyagi and produced by Dharma Productions, in association with Leo Media Collective and Cape of Good Films. ## Even as Akshay Kumar moves to the new release in the form of Housefull 5, it is Kesari 2, which proved to be one of the few successes the actor has had post the Covid-19 pandemic. It has minted approximately 145 crore worldwide collection so far and is among the top 5 biggest Bollywood grossers of the year. ## No one had expected Kesari 2 to perform well at the box office, as the trade almost rejected it before the release. However, the movie put all the conservative trade projections to the dustbin, and emerged as a victorious at the box office despite the targeted negativity towards it. ## It can be argued that the overall box office result of Kesari 2 is not up to the level Akshay has set over the years, but it must be admitted that it was among the films which was least expected to perform well. The title change nearly a month before the release did play its part, but the movie also struck a chord with the audience, resulting in a success at the ticket window. ## Kesari 2 is one of the most memorable films in Akshay's career and easily the best-reviewed movie of the actor in the recent past. It is a spiritual sequel to the historical action film Kesari (2019), and its plot is based on the book The Case That Shook The Empire by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat. The movie is centred around C. Mumbai, June 6 - Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar-led comedy entertainer Housefull 5 hits the big screen today, June 6, amid huge anticipation. Directed by Tarun Mansukhani, it is the costliest film of the franchise, and the expectations are huge from this at the box office. ## Housefull 5 scored one of the biggest advances of the year for a Bollywood title, with approximately 2.50 lakh tickets sold worth approximately 8 crore gross collection (without block seat) for the opening day. The pre-sales, however, are not as big as it was expected given the franchise value and huge star cast. ## Despite pre-sales falling short of expectations, Housefull 5 is eying the record opening in the franchise. In comparison to one of the recent films, Sikandar, the advance booking of HF5 is slightly behind, but it needs to be noted that the Salman Khan-starrer had a Sunday release. ## It has also been observed that the Housefull franchise is not usually an advance-heavy franchise and has relied on spot bookings, and this seems to be the case with the latest instalment. The urgency in booking tickets is much higher on the release day than on the previous days, which shows the strong response in spot booking. ## At this point, Housefull 5 is looking to score the biggest opening of the franchise, beating Housefull 4, which scored around 19 crore net. The pre-sales response suggests the opening in the range of 23-25 crores net, however, it might vary depending on how the day progresses in terms of walk-ins. ## Housefull 5 is produced by Sajid Nadiadwala under the banner Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment. Mumbai, June 5 - Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan and Tamil director Lokesh Kanagaraj are officially teaming up for the first time. The project in question has been in the news since last year, when it was reported that the duo would collaborate on two films, including a full-fledged one. ## Usually, Aamir Khan decides on his next film after the release of the in-production title, but this time, the actor already has a couple of films in the pipeline. He is gearing up for the release of "Sitaare Zameen Par", which is set to hit the big screen on June 20. ## Recently, the Dangal star announced his reunion with director Rajkumar Hirani for the biopic of Dadasaheb Phalke, who is known as the father of Indian cinema, and now he has confirmed another project, this time with Lokesh Kangaraj. ## When asked about a film with Lokesh Kanagaraj, he replied during a group interaction with journalists, "Lokesh and I are working on a film. It belongs to the superhero genre. It's a big-scale action film and will go on floors in the second half of 2026". ## There were rumours that Aamir Khan and Rajkumar Hirani also discussed "PK 2"; however, the actor has denied it and said it is just a rumour. Lokesh's film will start after Dadasaheb Phalke's biopic, which begins production in October this year. ## Meanwhile, Aamir is also doing a cameo role in Lokesh Kanagraj's "Coolie", starring superstar Rajinikanth. Bengaluru, June 3 - Kamal Haasan's action drama Thug Life release has been stalled in Karnataka after the actor refused to apologise for his language remarks, which allegedly hurt the sentiments of Kannadigas. ## During the audio launch event of his film Thug Life, Kamal Haasan stated that the Kannada language was born out of the Tamil language. The actor's remarks led to a big controversy among the people of Karnataka and the Film Chamber, who threatened to stall the release of the film in the state if he didn't apologise. ## Haasan had refused to apologise and filed a petition in the Karnataka High Court seeking protection and to allow the film's release. The High Court, however, also orally advised Haasan to issue an apology for the remarks, as it hurt the sentiments of the people of Karnataka, according to Live Law. ## The actor filed a reply in the court, on which the court orally said, "There is no apology in it. You may be Kamal Haasan or anybody, but you cannot hurt the sentiments of the masses. The division of this country is on linguistic lines. A public figure cannot make such statements. What has happened because of it is unrest, disharmony. People of Karnataka only asked for an apology. Now you come here seeking protection". ## Haasan stated in his reply that he had "no malice" towards the Kannada language and proposed to have a dialogue with the Film Chamber. Mumbai, June 3 - The much-awaited comedy entertainer Housefull 5, starring superstar Akshay Kumar, is all set to hit the big screen on June 6, and it is going to be the first of its kind film for its genre as well as for Akshay. ## Housefull 5 is the fifth instalment of the blockbuster franchise, and according to the reports, it is set to be the widest release for the franchise. It is said that the film will be released on over 5000 screens across the country. Overseas, it will release on over 2000 screens. This makes it the widest release for Akshay as well as for the comedy genre in India. ## It is to be noted that Housefull 5 will clash with Kamal Haasan's Thug Life (June 5), and despite that, the former has managed to lock a huge screen count nationwide. If the movie manages to get positive word of mouth, then it has all the ingredients to become the highest-grossing film of the franchise. ## Apart from getting the huge release, Housefull 5 is also the costliest film of the series. It is revealed that the film's total budget is 225 crores (without print and advertisement costs), which also makes it the costliest Indian comedy film. ## Earlier, there were reports and the makers also revealed that Housefull 5 was to be made in a budget of 350 crores, however, the film reportedly went through casting changes, which reduced the cost significantly. Hyderabad, June 3 - There is an official arrival date for Pan-India superstar Prabhas-fronted The Raja Saab, which is hugely awaited. ## Directed by Maruthi, the romantic horror comedy has been confirmed to hit the big screen on December 5, 2025, and the teaser will be launched on June 16. Hyderabad, June 2 - Pan India superstar Prabhas will next be seen in director Maruthi's romantic horror comedy The Raja Saab and the fans can't wait to see the Baahubali star in a whole new avatar. ## Recently, director Maruthi teased the official teaser soon on social media, sending Prabhas fans into a frenzy. According to the report by Gulte.com, the makers will drop the teaser of this much-awaited movie on June 16, and the official announcement of the same will be made on June 3. ## The Raja Saab has been in production for nearly 3 years now, and the long wait will be ending soon. Mumbai, June 2 - Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise has delivered again at the Indian box office as his latest blockbuster Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning (M:I 8) has topped 100 crore gross collection, following the big success of the previous film of the franchise. ## Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, the spy action thriller hit the milestone in 16 days as the total collection of the film stands at around 106 crore gross through the third Sunday (16 days). It now needs another 25 crore gross to top Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One (131+ crore) to become the highest-grossing film of the franchise in India. ## The Final Reckoning is only the second movie of Tom Cruise to hit 100 crore gross in India. The movie, however, needs to score strongly in the coming days to surpass the previous film, which will not be easy as legs are weakening, and there will be competition with new releases. ## At the worldwide box office, Mission: Impossible 8 has crossed $350 million. It has grossed $353 million (3020 crore), including $231 million (1975 crore) at the overseas box office and $122.5 million (1045 crore) in North America. Mumbai, June 2 - Yash Raj Films' action thriller Dhoom 4 is among the most-anticipated Bollywood movies. It was announced many moons back, but there hasn't been much development until recently, when it was reported that Ranbir Kapoor was roped in to play the lead role. ## According to the latest report by Pinkvilla, the script of Dhoom 4 is currently being developed at YRF. Aditya Chopra, along with writer Shridhar Raghavan, has teamed up to lock in the script for Dhoom 4, and they are working on a story draft worthy of the hype surrounding the blockbuster. ## It is reported that the shoot for Dhoom 4 is expected to commence in April 2026, with the makers aiming to complete it by the end of the year for a 2027 release. Ayan Mukerji will reportedly direct the film, which will go into pre-production after the release of YRF's War 2 during Independence Day weekend 2025. ## Meanwhile, Ranbir is currently shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Love & War, and on calling it a wrap, he moves on to complete Ramayana 2. Mumbai, June 2 - Superstar Mahesh Babu's fantasy action comedy Khaleja has exceeded expectations in its opening weekend and has become the highest as well as the first double-digit Telugu re-release grosser at the worldwide box office. ## Directed by Trivikram Srinivas, Khaleja was re-released on May 30 amid the huge hype, and it scored the third biggest opening for a South Indian re-release film with approximately 6.75 crores gross. The movie scored good hold on the second day to earn around 2 crore gross, followed by around 1.50 crore gross on Sunday. ## Khaleja grossed approximately 10.25 crores in its opening weekend worldwide, including around 9 crores gross in India and 1.25 crores overseas. With this, it has become the first double-digit Telugu and third South India re-release grosser. ## The movie was re-released without any special occasion, and yet, it scored an excellent collection worldwide. Apart from being the first double-digit grosser, it also became the first Indian re-release title to gross $100K at the North American box office. ## The movie also stars Anushka Shetty as the female lead, alongside Prakash Raj, Rao Ramesh, Shafi, Sunil, Ali, and Subbaraju in supporting roles.
