Chennai, June 20 - Vijay Sethupathi-fronted action thriller Maharaja has become the 5th Tamil movie of 2024 to enter the 50 crores gross club at the worldwide box office within a week, joining Captain Miller, Ayalaan, Aranmanai 4, and Garudan in the list. ## Directed by Nithilan Saminathan, Maharaja grossed an estimated 57 crores, including around 41 crores in India and 16 crores gross at the overseas box office. It is expected to close the first week with around 61 crores gross. ## Maharaja is currently the 4th highest-grossing Tamil film of the year after beating Soori's Garudan which has scored an estimated 56+ crores gross in 3 weeks. Chennai, June 17 - The Tamil film industry has returned to winning ways with a fourth success within two months at the domestic box office. After no-hit for the first four months of the year, the industry scored first hit in horror-comedy Aranmanai 4, followed by Garudan. Now, Vijay Setupathi's Maharaja joins the list. ## Directed by Nithilan Saminathan, Maharaja was released on June 14 and scored an excellent first weekend at the domestic box office with approximately 25.15 crores gross mark, which is the second biggest opening weekend for a Tamil movie of 2024, behind Dhanush's Captain Miller. ## Maharaja opened to an estimated 5.40 crores gross collection, including 1.20 crores in Telugu. The action thriller witnessed a big jump of over 60% on Saturday to score an estimated 9 crores gross, and there was a further jump of around 20% on Sunday for around 10.75 crores gross. ## The Tamil version of Maharaja has minted an estimated 19 crores gross while the Telugu version has grossed approximately 6 crores gross. The movie surpassed expectations after opening to excellent reviews and audience word of mouth. ## Maharaja is expected to have another solid day today due to the Bakrid holiday. Chennai, June 14 - Actor Soori's action thriller Garudan has emerged as a big success and has entered the 50 crores club at the worldwide box office in 15 days. The movie joined horror-comedy, Aranmanai 4 as the only Tamil movie of 2024 to score success at the box office. ## Directed by R. S. Durai Senthilkumar, Garudan has grossed approximately 50.65 crores worldwide, including approx. 42.65 crores in India and an estimated 8 crores at the overseas box office in 15 days. It is currently the 4th highest-grossing Kollywood film of the year, behind Aranmanai 4, Ayalaan, and Captain Miller. ## Garudan received positive reception from critics and audiences upon its release on May 31st. The movie scored 4+ crores gross on its first day and remained solid throughout the first week to earn 27+ crores gross in India. It held firmly in the second week to collect approximately 14.75 crores gross and has started the third week on a good note. ## A consistent decent run for Garudan could take it to 50 crores gross mark domestically, however, Vijay Sethupathi's Maharaja might dent its chances as it also started strongly to collect over 5+ crores gross domestically. Dhanush's Much-Awaited 'Raayan' To Release On July 26

Chennai, June 10 - Sun Pictures has postponed the release of Tamil star Dhanush's second directorial venture Raayan by a month to July 2024. Dhanush is also playing the leading role in the movie alongside Sundeep Kishan, Kalidas Jayaram, S. J. Suryah, Selvaraghavan, Prakash Raj, Aparna Balamurali, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar and Saravanan. ## The movie, which was previously announced to be released in June, will now be released in theatres worldwide on July 26 in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi. Chennai, June 3 - After the big success of Aranmanai 4, the Tamil film industry has another movie doing well at the box office in the form of actor Soori's action thriller Garudan, directed by R. S. Durai Senthilkumar. ## Released on May 31st, Garudan had a very good opening weekend at the domestic box office with a gross collection of approximately 17 crores in 3 days. It scored the third biggest opening weekend for a Tamil movie of 2023, behind Captain Miller and Aranmanai 4. ## Garudan opened to a good collection of approximately 4 crores gross, before showing a jump of around 38% on its second day for approx. 5.60 crores gross, followed by another jump of 29% on Sunday for approx. 7.25 crores. The movie was announced with solid casting, including Dulquer Salmaan, Nazriya Fahadh, and Vijay Varma. ## The shooting of Suriya 43 was supposed to commence by early this year but there has been no development since the announcement. Now, according to a report by Only Kollywood, the movie has been put on hold indefinitely for some unknown reasons and is not happening anytime soon. ## It is said that Sudha Kongara is now working on her new project which is said to be another intense drama with actor Sivakarthikeyan. However, nothing is confirmed yet but Sivakarthikeyan has reportedly shown interest in the movie to do it. ## Meanwhile, Sudha Kongara is gearing up for the release of her Bollywood debut movie Sarfira, which is the remake of Soorarai Pottru. Chennai, May 20 - Actor and director Sundar C's horror-comedy Aranmanai 4 has become the highest-grossing Tamil movie of 2024 at the worldwide box office, beating Sivakarthikeyan's sci-fi adventure Ayalaan. ## Starring Sundar C, Tamannaah Bhatia, and Raashii Khanna, the fourth instalment of the hit franchise has grossed approximately 62 crores at the domestic box office, including approximately 56.50 crores in Tamil and 5.50 crores in the Telugu version.## The overseas collection of Aranmanai 4 is an estimated 16 crores, pushing the worldwide cume total to 78 crores gross in 17 days. Ayalaan had grossed approximately 76.50 crores and is now the second highest-grossing Tamil film of the year. ## Aranmanai 4 is the highest-grossing film in the franchise, surpassing the lifetime collection of its predecessor which grossed an estimated 30-40 crores worldwide. Chennai, May 13 - Actor and filmmaker Sundar C's Aranmanai 4 has become the third Tamil movie of 2024 to top 50 crores gross collection at the Indian box office after Dhanush's Captain Miller and Sivakarthikeyan's Ayalaan. ## Starring Tamannah Bhatia and Raashii Khanna in the leading roles, the 4th instalment of the horror-comedy franchise minted approximately 49.30 crores gross in India through the second weekend and on its 11th day (2nd Monday), it has topped the 50 crores gross mark. ## The Tamil version of the film has contributed approximately 45 crores gross while the Telugu version scored around 4.30 crores gross in 10 days so far. Lal Salaam had grossed approximately 21 crores in its entire run.
