Akshay Kumar's 'The Great Indian Rescue' Release Date Locked

Mumbai, June 14 - Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar reunites with his "Rustom" director Tinu Suresh Desai for a rescue thriller film which has been titled The Great Indian Rescue. ## The film is based on a mining engineer Jaswant Singh Gill, who rescued 64 miners at the Raniganj Coalfields in 1989. It is a detailed adaptation of the incident in which Akshay Kumar plays the role of Jaswant Singh Gill while Parineeti Chopra features as the female lead. ## On Wednesday (June 14), the makers confirmed the release date of "The Great Indian Rescue". Contrary to the rumors, the movie will be released in theaters on October 5, 2023. It will be Akshay's third release of the year, after "Selfiee" and the upcoming social comedy-drama "OMG 2" (Aug. 11). ## "The Great Indian Rescue" is produced by Vashu Bhagnani, Deepshikha Deshmukh, Jackky Bhagnani, and Ajay Kapoor under the banner of Pooja Entertainment. Mumbai, June 14 - Director Om Raut's magnum opus Adipurush is just around the corner with just 2 days to go for the release in multiple languages worldwide. It has been one of the most-awaited films due to its subject and solid star cast. ## Produced by T-Series, Retrophiles, and UV Creations, "Adipurush" is based on the epic Ramayana, and stars Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, Saif Ali Khan, Sunny Singh, and Devdutt Nage, among others in key roles. The movie has been certified with a "U" certificate by CBFC with the approved runtime of 2 hours and 59 minutes.## As reported earlier, "Adipurush" will release on over 6200 screens in India, including over 4000 screens for the Hindi version only. The advance booking for the same was opened a couple of days and the response so far is very good for the Hindi version which is key for the film's overall success.## The advance booking trend of the "Adipurush" Hindi version is better than SS Rajamouli's "RRR" which scored around 7 crores pre-sales for the opening day. In comparison, "Adipurush" so far has scored around 6 crores with still 1 day to go for the release. It is expected to score around 12-13 crores in advance sales in Hindi for the opening day.## "RRR" opened at 20 crores net in Hindi and going by the pre-booking trend of "Adipurush", it is expected to take an opening of around 25-30 crores net. The opening might be higher considering the family audience might help boost spot booking. It will easily be the second biggest opening of the year in Hindi after Shah Rukh Khan's "Pathaan".## The opening weekend collection of the Prabhas-fronted could also be higher than "RRR" if the reports are favorable. The second film in the franchise was directly released on OTT in 2021 and won high critical acclaim though many felt it should have been a theatrical release.## The "Drishyam" franchise eventually got a Hindi remake and the second film, unlike the Malayalam version, was released in theaters and emerged as one of the biggest Indian blockbusters of 2022. Now, the makers are gearing up for its third installment. ## In November last year, it was revealed that the makers of Hindi and Malayalam versions of the "Drishyam" series are working on its third installment and it was also revealed that both versions will be shot simultaneously. ## According to Pinkvilla, "Drishyam 3" has gotten into the development stage and it is proving to be a collaboration between the creators in Hindi and Malayalam. Abhishek Pathak, who directed the Hindi version of "Drishyam 2", and his team of writers have cracked a basic core plot for Drishyam 3, which Jeethu Joseph, the Malayalam version of "Drishyam" director, and his team loved. ## In quite an achievement for the team of the Hindi version, Jeethu Joseph and his team have taken the idea for "Drishyam 3" from the team of Hindi Drishyam and are now working towards developing it into a screenplay for the next installment. ## As said, both versions will be shot simultaneously and the makers planning to release both movies on the same date to avoid any spoilers. While Kerala will see the release in Malayalam with Mohanlal as Goerge Kutty, the rest of India will get to see the journey of Ajay Devgn as Vijay Salgaonkar.## "Drishyam 3" will be the final film in the franchise and it is going to be exciting for the audiences to know its conclusion. Mumbai, June 13 - Superstar Prabhas-fronted Adipurush is having a good response in advance booking collection, domestically and overseas. In India, the movie already has sold over 150K tickets for the opening day and is looking to score one of the biggest pre-sales by the time it releases. ## While the epic drama was expected to have good pre-sales in India, it is also seeing encouraging responses in the key international markets. In the USA, it has so far scored approx. $800K (6.60 crores) with 42K advance tickets sold for the opening day, including premiere.## In Australia, the pre-sales for the opening day is approx. A$150K (83 lacs) so far while in the UK, the pre-sales are around £55K (50 lacs) and around €5K (4.5 lacs) in Germany. In Canada, the advance booking sales so far are around $30K (25 lacs). ## Talking about the USA, "Adipurush" is expected to score $1+ million through the premiere. It scored a very good jump after the XD shows got opened. The distributors are asking the theater chains to add more XD shows which could give it a further push. ## "Adipurush" is directed by Om Raut and produced by T-Series, Retrophiles, and UV Creations. Mumbai, June 13 - Director Ali Abbas Zafar hasn't come up with a theatrical release since Salman Khan-fronted "Bharat" in 2019. His next big screen release is Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff-fronted "Bade Miyan Chote Miyan" which is slated for Eid 2024. ## Meanwhile, the filmmaker may have been away from theaters, but he wasn't away from filmmaking during these last couple of years. He came up with three OTT titles, including the recently released "Bloody Daddy" with Shahid Kapoor. ## "Bloody Daddy" was directly released on Jio Cinema and got mixed responses from the viewers. However, the movie left the director's core audiences asking if the movie could have a theatrical release and if there could be a sequel to it. ## During a recent interview with Hindustan Times, Ali Abbas Zafar said that "It's a big compliment when people watch your content and say it's a big-screen experience", however, he cleared that the movie was always going to be an OTT release since it deals with rough scenes which were important for its storytelling. ## The filmmaker further said that he would love to make a sequel to "Bloody Daddy" if the audience feels associated with the characters for a long time. "People have to be talking about it six months or a year after the release. Then it's a validation that the film and the character have stayed with the audience". He said that if the sequel is made, he will try to make it as a theatrical release.## Ali Abbas Zafar also revealed that he has completed principal photography of "Bade Miyan Chote Miyan" and has started editing the film. According to Pinkvilla, director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra is in advanced talks with Tamil superstar Suriya to play this larger-than-life role. ## It is said that Suriya and Mehra already had multiple meetings and things are moving in the right direction quickly. Mumbai, June 12 - Sunny Deol returns as Tara Singh to protect his family in the first look teaser of the highly-anticipated period action drama film Gadar 2: The Katha Continues. The sequel to the all-time blockbuster is directed by Anil Sharma. ## On Monday (June 12), Zee Studios unveiled the teaser of "Gadar 2" which promises a blockbuster affair. Set in Lahore in 1971, the teaser begins with the dialogue in a woman's voice, "Damaad hai wo Pakistan ka, Isko nariyal do, Tika Lagao, Warna is bar wo dahej mein lahore le jayega". ## The teaser then shows glimpses of the enmity between India and Pakistan where later country's people can be seen participating in the Crush India Movement as the country was on the verge of attacking India in the aftermath of partition. ## The 1-minute and 9 seconds promo has all the elements which are required for a mass entertainer to turn a blockbuster. It ends with Sunny sitting right to a grave with teary eyes and the sad version of "Udja Kaale Kawan" playing in the background. The music by Mithoon is in sync with the theme of the film so are the dialogues and action blocks. The upcoming movie will also see Sunny Deol lifting a big cartwheel to fight the enemies. ## "Gadar 2: The Katha Continues", produced by Anil Sharma Productions, and MM Moviez in association with Zee Studios. Now, director Bazmee has shared some exciting news regarding the same. ## During a conversation with Pinkvilla, the "Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2" director said that he presently writing the script and has already completed a lot of portion of it. The filmmaker didn't confirm the exact timeline of the shoot but said that they are looking to July or August to start shooting the movie. Box Office: 'Gadar - Ek Prem Katha' Re-Release Scored A Good Opening Weekend

Mumbai, June 12 - Sunny Deol-fronted all-time blockbuster Gadar: Ek Prem Katha showed good collections upon its re-release in its opening weekend. ## The period action drama film had limited re-release in 4K and Dolby Atmos, but after the positive response, the makers increased the showcasing over the weekend which helped to post a good weekend collection of approx. 1.30 crores net collection. ## The movie scored approx. 30 lacs net on the opening day, followed by 45 lacs and 55 lacs on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. The weekend collection of 1.30 crores of Gadar is more than the lifetime collection of a few of the original Hindi films that release in the last couple of years. ## As said earlier, the positive response to Gadar's re-release is a good sign for its sequel Gadar 2: The Katha Continues which is scheduled to release on August 11 this year. This has been shot on a bigger scale and made on a bigger budget than the first film. The hype around the movie is good which makes it a dark horse at the box office. ## Meanwhile, Gadar had originally grossed over 132 crores at the worldwide box office in 2001 and was the highest-grossing Indian film at that time. Mumbai, June 11 - Maddock Films' Zara Hatke Zara Bachke enters the 50 crores net club in style after scoring another big day today. It scores a jump of around 20% today, the second Sunday as compared to yesterday's collection. ## As per the early estimates, ZHZB scored around 6.75 crores net collection on its second Sunday, which takes the total collection to 53 crores net in 10 days. The second-weekend collection of the movie is around 16 crores net, which is just around 30% less than the opening weekend. ## ZHZB is trending really well at the box office, and as expected, it scored a fantastic second-weekend collection. The movie has at least 4 more days before Adipurush arrives on June 16, and on these days, it can collect another 7-9 crores net collection.
