Emraan Hashmi To Feature Alongside Akshay Kumar For The First Time In Raj Mehta's Next?

Mumbai, September 28 - Akshay Kumar is reuniting with the talented director Raj Mehta after their 2019 blockbuster "Good Newwz". The yet-untitled project will reportedly also feature Emraan Hashmi. The movie, which is said to be a comedy thriller, will see Akshay and Emraan coming together for the first time. ## Produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, it is learned that the film is the remake of the 2019 Malayalam film, Driving License that starred Prithviraj Sukumaran and Suraj Venjaramoodu in the lead roles. Akshay will step into the shoes of Prithviraj while Emraan Hashmi will reprise the role Suraj's role. ## Described as a captivating drama on pride and pettiness, fandom and fury, the film is based on a simple incident that becomes a major ego clash between a superstar (to be played by Akshay) and his die-hard fan, a motor vehicle inspector (to be played by Hashmi) after a series of misunderstandings. ## The pre-production work has already begun and the makers are exploring several locations to shoot the film, with the UK being right on top of the list. The film is expected to go on floors in early next year after Akshay is done shooting for Cinderella, Oh My God 2, and Ram Setu.## Meanwhile, Emraan Hashmi is currently shooting for "Tiger 3" which will see Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif reprising their roles of RAW and ISI agents respectively. Mumbai, September 28 - In the last couple of days, a number of Bollywood films have got the release date as the government of Maharashtra has permitted theaters to reopen from October 22. However, among the slate of films, Akshay Kumar's "Atrangi Re" has yet to get a release date. ## While many are wondering why the makers haven't announced the theatrical release date of "Atrangi Re", which is ready for a long time now, it has now been revealed that the makers of the film might be opting for a direct-to-digital release via Netflix. It is produced by T-Series, Colour Yellow Productions, and Cape of Good Films.## Akshay Kumar too had hinted about the direct OTT release of "Atrangi Re" in a chat with Hindustan Times. "To be honest, I haven't yet included Atrangi Re in the list because we are still mulling over whether it should be a theatrical film or an OTT release. And OTT may simply be the medium of choice for Atrangi Re, as it looks right now", said Akshay. ## Directed by Anand L Rai, the film also stars Dhanush and Sara Ali Khan in the lead roles. Akshay said that "Atrangi Re" is a never-heard-before subject and storyline so it's important for them to choose the best-suited platform to get a release. ## While the official announcement is yet to be made, the movie has reportedly been confirmed to release on Netflix. It is also because there is hardly any release window left in the next 7-8 months. A couple of months ago, it was reported that the makers of Liger had approached the American veteran boxer to play a significant cameo. ## On Monday (September 27), makers confirmed Tyson's inclusion in this boxing action drama film. It is said that he will be seen in the climax and will play Deverakonda's mentor in this Puri Jagannath directorial. It is surely a big moment in Indian cinema when Tyson will be entertaining Indian audiences for the first time. ## Producer Karan Johar took to Twitter and made this Big announcement. Yash Raj Films lead the chart with four release date announcements of its films that include "Bunty Aur Babli 2" (Nov 19, 2021), "Prithviraj" (Jan 21), "Jayeshbhai Jordaar" (Feb 25), "Shamshera" (March 18). ## However, among the number of release date announcements, fans were hoping that Yash Raj Films would also finalize the release dates of two highly-awaited films "Tiger 3" and "Pathan". There is no doubt that Salman Khan starrer "Tiger 3" and Shah Rukh Khan's comeback film "Pathan" will shatter box office records whenever they will be released. ## Salman and SRK fans may have left with disappointment, but the good news is not too far away from now on. However, one should not expect both the biggies to arrive before the second half of 2022. Since the first half of 2022 is almost booked, the latest status on both the movies is that both will debut in theaters in 2nd half of 2022, most probably in between September - December. ## "Pathan" (yet to be announced officially), marks SRK's comeback in films almost after 3 years. Mumbai, September 26 - It has been a crazy day for the movie buffs, thanks to a slate of big release date announcements from the Bollywood film industry. After waiting for more than one and a half years, the rapid countrywide vaccination and theater reopening announcement in Maharashtra lures Bollywood filmmakers to announce the release dates of their pending movies. ## On Sunday (September 26), there were as many as 16 release dates announcements of Hindi movies, and six of them are to release this year and the rest are set to hit big screens in 2022. Apart from today's five release date announcements, Akshay Kumar starrer "Sooryavanshi" will also be hitting theaters on Diwali this year, which was confirmed by director Rohit Shetty yesterday. ## Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar will once again be in action throughout the year 2022. He is arguably the busiest actor in India and going with that reputation, he might have at least six movies releasing next year, including four confirmed releases. ## The first film of Padman actor to release next year is Yash Raj Films' historical action-drama "Prithviraj". The Chandraprakash Dwivedi directed will be hitting theaters worldwide on January 21. It also stars Manushi Chhillar in her Bollywood debut along with Sanjay Dutt, Sonu Sood, Ashutosh Rana, Sakshi Tanwar, Manav Vij, and Lalit Tiwari in other important characters. ## Sajid Nadiadwala's "Bachchan Pandey", which was originally announced for January 26, 2022, has been pushed to March 4 in theaters worldwide. It stars Akshay Kumar in the lead along with Kriti Sanon, and Jacqueline Fernandez as the female leads, and Arshad Warsi in a key role. ## Raksha Bandhan, Akshay Kumar's second collaboration with Anand L Rai, will debut in theaters on August 11 during Independence Day week. Bhumi Pednekar plays the female lead opposite Akshay in this film. Then, Akshay's magnum opus "Ram Setu" will light up Diwali 2022. Apart from the confirmed movies, Akshay may also have Oh! Mumbai, September 26 - The government of Maharashtra, on September 25, announced that the theaters in the state will be permitted to operate from October 22. The announcement came after filmmaker Rohit Shetty among others met the state CM and urged him to reopen theaters as it is the biggest market for Hindi films. ## Upon the good news, Shetty announced the release date of his long-awaited "Sooryavanshi" on Diwali this year. This actually paves the way for other filmmakers and studios to follow the suit and finalize the premiere dates of their pending films that include medium to big-budget films. ## Yash Raj Films was one of the firsts to announce the release dates of its four movies. Akshay Kumar and Manushi Chillar starrer historical drama film "Prithviraj" has been confirmed to debut in theaters on January 21, 2022. Jayeshbhai Jordaar, starring Ranveer Singh Shalini Pandey, will now hit theaters on 25 February 2022 while Ranbir Kapoor's "Shamshera" arrives on March 18, 2022. ## "Laal Singh Chaddha", one of the highly awaited films starring superstar Aamir Khan, has been pushed to Valentine's Day weekend in 2022 from Christmas 2021. Mumbai, September 25: Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday announced that cinema halls and drama theatres in the state will be allowed to operate from October 22 on the condition that they follow all the protocols required to prevent the spread of coronavirus.## The standard operating procedure (SOPs) regarding cinema reopening is in the works and will be issued soon. Earlier in the day, filmmaker Rohit Shetty along with Jayantilal Gada of PEN Studios, and representative of multiplex owners met chief minister Uddhav Thackeray and discussed the theater reopening status and urged him for urgent action. ## Theatres and auditoriums in Maharashtra will open after 22nd October 2021 while observing all COVID safety protocols. It is reported that Bollywood filmmakers are eyeing the Diwali 2021 release for some of their most anticipated films. ## The persence of Rohit Shetty in the meeting with CM Uddhav Thackeray indicates that his directorial "Sooryavanshi" may release during the upcoming big festival season. "Sooryavanshi" starring Akshay Kumar has been on waiting mode since March 2022 and it has already been one and a half years since then. ## Apart from "Sooryavanshi", Salman Khan and Aayush Sharma starrer "Antim: The Final Truth", and Ayushmann Khurrana's "Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui" are also gearing up for Diwali 2022 release. Interestingly, it was Akshay Kumar's "Bell Bottom", which was the first Bollywood biggie to release post-second covid-19 wave without Maharashtra. Mumbai, September 23: Superstar Ajay Devgn has locked one more film in his long list of the upcoming slate. The actor, who is currently working on multiple films such as Mayday, Maidaan, Thank God, and Disney+Hotstar series Rudra, is all set to return as Vijay Salgaonkar in the sequel to the blockbuster "Drishyam".## Earlier in May this year, Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak's Panorama Studios International had acquired the Hindi remake rights of Mohanlal starrer suspense thriller "Drishyam 2". The latest development around the Hindi remake is that it is set to go on floors in December this year after Ajay Devgn finishing his current projects. ## According to Peepingmoon, Ajay Devgn has given his dates from late December to this sequel that will be the remake of Mohanlal's critically acclaimed Malayalam film, Drishyam 2: The Resumption. The sequel will also see Tabu, Shriya Saran, and Ishita Dutta reprising their roles from the first part which was released in 2015. ## Abhishek Pathak, who made his directorial debut with Sunny Singh's "Ujda Chaman", will reportedly be directing "Drishyam 2". He has stepped in to helm this much-awaited thriller in the absence of the first part's director Nishikant Kamat who passed away last year due to multiple organ failure. ## The first part of Drishyam traced the struggle of Salgaonkar and his family who come under suspicion when the son of Inspector General Police gets killed. Drishyam 2, which is set six years after the events of the first film, will showcase how Vijay Salgaonkar and his family's past come to haunt them and how they manage to escape once again. ## The original "Drishyam 2" was released directly on Amazon Prime Video earlier this year. Upon its digital premiere, it received rave reviews as audiences hailed it one of the finest suspense thrillers of Indian cinema. Mumbai, September 22: After proving to be the biggest blockbuster for Amazon Prime Video, Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani starrer biographical war film "Shershaah" is all set to be screened on the big screen during the 1st ever The Himalayan Film Festival (THFF) on 24th September. ## Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shri Anurag Thakur will inaugurate the first Himalayan Film Festival on 24th September 2021. The festival spanning five days is being held at Leh, Ladakh from 24th to 28th September 2021.## The inaugural of the festival will witness the presence of makers and cast of Shershah, including Director Shri Vishnuvardhan and the lead actor Shri Siddharth Malhotra. Shershah is also the opening feature film of the festival on September 24. Shershaah is a biographical war film based on the Kargil War hero, Param Vir Chakra awardee Capt. With over 30 South film remakes already in the various stages of production, Bollywood filmmakers are continuously adding more and more films to this list and proving the critics right that they lack originality and are widely dependent on remakes. ## Speaking about the latest soon-to-be remade in Hindi, Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha Krishnan's Tamil blockbuster "96" was recently confirmed to be remade in Hindi by "Attack" producer Ajay Kapoor and now, there are reports that Nani's one of the most loved Telugu movie "Gang Leader" is also ready for Bollywood makeover. ## According to Peepingmoon, producer Akshai Puri of 12th Street Entertainment has bought the rights to this 2019 Telugu comedy thriller directed by Vikram Kumar. He said to have got the remake rights just last week and will soon set up a team of writers to adapt the screenplay to suit it with Hindi audiences. ## Even before the reports of the Hindi remake of "Gang Leader" came out, this Nani starrer was in news recently after a rumored plot line of Shah Rukh Khan and Atlee's film emerged on social media. Speculations started doing rounds regarding the similarity between two films after a web portal claimed that "Atlee film will be a massive revenge action-entertainer that will have Shah Rukh Khan assembling a team of women, who wanted to seek revenge for their past, to rob something untouchable". ## While it's true that SRK-Atlee's much-anticipated Pan-India offering is a robbery drama, it has nothing to do with Nani's Gang Leader as the film's remake rights are with Akshai Puri. "Gang Leader" revolves around five women who seek the help of a budding crime novelist (played by Nani) to avenge the death of their loved ones.
