Pictures and DC Studios' Superman movie got off to an excellent start as the first trailer of James Gunn's directorial brought in a record viewership in the history of the studio, according to the filmmaker himself. ## Gunn announced on social media that the first trailer of Superman, starring David Corenswet as the new Man of Steel, scored 250+ million views across social media platforms in the first 24 hours. The maverick filmmaker also declared it the biggest trailer launch in Warner Bros. and DC Studio's history. ## "Krypto really did take us home: With over 250 million views and a million social posts, Superman is officially the most viewed and the most talked about trailer in the history of both DC and Warner Bros. Hyderabad, December 20 - Dulquer Salmaan's period crime drama film Lucky Bashkar has extended its big box office success into the digital platform as the movie has turned out to be a jackpot for Netflix which is the official post-theatrical streaming partner of the film in all languages. ## The Venky Atluri's directorial was made available on Netflix on November 28, which is 4 weeks after the theatrical release. In its opening weekend, the movie generated 5.1 million views on Netflix which is one of the highest for an Indian title.## The movie witnessed an upward trend in the second week and scored 6.6 million views, followed by another 3.3 million views in the third week (December 9 - 15). In the first 17 days, Lucky Bashkar scored 14.90 million views, making it the 5th most-watched Indian title of 2024 on Netflix. ## Lucky Bashkar is likely to beat Do Patti (17 million views), Laapataa Ladies (17.1 million views) and Crew (17.9 million views) to become the second most-watched title of the year. Chennai, December 20 - Vijay Sethupathi's action thriller Maharaja has become the highest-grossing South Indian film and the 10th biggest Indian grosser at the Chinese box office. The film has exceeded expectations in the Mainland and is crawling towards the 100 crore mark. ## Directed by Nithilan Swaminathan, Maharaja has grossed approximately 85.75 crores ($10.12 million) through the third Thursday (21 days) in China, outgrossing the lifetime total of SS Rajamouli's Baahubali 2 (80.50 crores gross) to become the biggest South Indian grosser there. ## The film's pace at the box office has slowed, so it needs to be seen if it goes on to touch the 100 crore mark in China. If it gets there, it will become the 9th biggest Indian grosser by outgrossing Toilet Ek Prem Katha (100+ crores gross). Chennai, December 19 - Kamal Haasan-fronted vigilante action thriller Indian 2 was released earlier this year amid high expectations but it ended up as the biggest failure for director Shankar at the box office and critical front.## After the debacle box office performance of Indian 2, reports emerged that Indian 3 will skip theatrical release and will directly be an OTT release. However, during a recent interview, director Shankar discussed Indian 2 failure and also confirmed the upcoming movie will be a theatrical release. ## "I didn't expect such negative reviews for Indian 2. Well, I have moved on. I believe my work on Game Changer and Indian 3 will speak for itself. Mumbai, December 18 - Allu Arjun's action drama Pushpa 2 - The Rule has become the highest-grossing Hindi net grosser and the first to clear 600 crores net collection in Hindi within two weeks since its release on December 5, becoming the biggest blockbuster. ## Directed by Sukumar, Pushpa 2 has surpassed the lifetime collection of Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao's horror comedy Stree 2 (598 crores net approx.) on its 14th day to become the number 1 movie of all time in Hindi. Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan is at the third palace with 582 crores net collection. ## Pushpa 2 has been on a record-breaking run since the opening day and so far, it has put up a sensational show at the box office. Hyderabad, December 17 - Superstar Prabhas-fronted Salaar Part 1 - Ceasefire was one of the biggest Indian grossers of 2023 and now, it has turned out to be a huge success on the OTT platform Disney Plus Hotstar as well in the dubbed Hindi version. ## The Hindi version of Salaar, directed by Prashanth Neel, was acquired by Hotstar while the other versions streamed on Netflix. Since its digital release on February 16 this year, the Hindi version of the film has continuously been trending in the top 10 in India. ## It has been continuous more than 300 days for the movie in the top 10 on Hotstar, making it the first film ever to do so. While the viewership numbers are not provided, Salaar is easily the most-watched Indian title on Hotstar and this is building up the excitement for its sequel which is due to hit big screens in 2026. ## Salaar is produced by Hombale Films which will bankroll three more films, including Salaar 2, of Prabhas in the next few years. The success of Salaar's Hindi version, both at the box office and on streaming, gives the studio a chance to plan bigger things for the sequel just like KGF: Chapter 2, and the makers have promised the same. ## The film stars Prabhas in the titular role alongside Prithviraj Sukumaran, Shruti Haasan, Jagapathi Babu, Bobby Simha, and Sriya Reddy in key roles. Set in the fictional dystopian city-state of Khansaar, where monarchy still exists, the film follows the friendship between Deva (Prabhas), the exiled prince of Khansaar, and Varadha (Prithviraj Sukumaran), the current prince of Khansaar. Mumbai, December 16 - The next big Bollywood release is Varun Dhawan-fronted action thriller Baby John which is scheduled to hit the big screens on December 25, on the occasion of Christmas. Directed by Kalees, the film carries a decent buzz and should take a good start at the box office. ## Meanwhile, ahead of the film's release, the makers have completed censorship formatlies. It is learned that Baby John has been certified with 'U/A' for 16+ by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with an approved theatrical runtime of 2 hours and 44 minutes (164 minutes). ## The movie is certified for people above 16 years of age due to some violent scenes. It is the second age-restricted movie of Varun Dhawan after Badlapur which was rated A by CBFC. Mumbai, December 15 - Pushpa 2 has become the third highest-grossing Indian movie at the worldwide box office in just less than 11 days since its release on December 5. ## With the ongoing 11th day (2nd Sunday), Pushpa 2 - The Rule is expected to be around 1300 crores gross globally, surpassing the lifetime worldwide total of SS Rajamouli's epic RRR (1230 crores gross) and Yash-fronted KGF: Chapter 2 (1215 crores gross) to become the third biggest Indian grosser. ## The Sukumar's directorial blockbuster is now behind Rajamouli's Baahubali 2 (1790 crores gross) and Aamir Khan's Dangal (2070 crores gross) which are currently the biggest Indian titles. Pushpa 2 indicates long legs and it might pip BB2 in the long run to become the number 2 grosser which needs to be seen. ## At the Indian box office, Pushpa 2 also crosses 1000 crores gross on Sunday and becomes only the third movie after Baahubali 2 (1417 crores gross) and KGF: Chapter 2 (1000 crores gross). The total domestic gross collection of the movie is expected to be 1050+ crores after 11 days as the second biggest grosser.## Meanwhile, the action drama has also surpassed 500 crores net collection in the Hindi version on its second Sunday (11th day), becoming the 7th film ever and the fastest to do so. Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan was previously the fastest to hit 500 crores net, taking 18 days for the same. ## Pushpa 2 will surpass all but Jawan (582 crores net) and Stree 2 (598 crores net) at the end of its 11th day to become the third biggest Hindi grosser.
