Mumbai, August 22 - Ayushmann Khurran and Ananya Pandey-fronted comedy-drama film "Dream Girl 2" is getting ready to release on August 25. Directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa and produced by Balaji Motion Pictures, Dream Girl 2 is a spiritual sequel to the 2019 film Dream Girl. ## Being a sequel to a box office hit movie, Dream Girl 2 is carrying a lot of expectations as far as the box office numbers are concerned. The good thing about the movie is that there is awareness among moviegoers due to its successful history and unique promotion strategy. ## The movie has been able to fetch decent advance sales so far which is encouraging considering the sold competition from the holdover movies "Gadar 2" and "OMG 2". As of 8 PM on August 22, the film has sold approx. 27K tickets worth 80 lakhs for the opening day. With 35 days still to go for the premieres, the film sold approximately 6400 tickets worth $183.70K from 410 shows in 154 locations, according to tracker Venky Reviews (as of 9:30 AM, August 24 (IST).## The pre-sales collection of the movie is increasing rapidly with each passing minute which will be reported after official data gets available. Directed by Prashanth Neel, "Salaar" has been planned for a massive release across North America. It has already been confirmed to release in over 1979 locations, including approximately 315 Cinemark theaters which is the widest release for an Indian movie ever.## As for the initial advance booking response, the period action drama film is projected to score, at least, $1.5+ million from premiere shows alone in the USA which is going to be excellent numbers. The superstar is now gearing up for his projects and one of them is with Lokesh Kanagaraj. ## Rajinikanth and Lokesh's collaboration has been in the news for the last few weeks. The makers haven't made the project official yet but multiple reports have confirmed the development and the previous reports also claimed that it could be a part of Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU). ## Now, according to the latest reports, the project, tentatively called "Thalaivaar 171", will be a standalone movie with no connection with the LCU. Mumbai, August 21 - Akshay Kumar's social comedy-drama OMG 2 has a drop of around 70% today on its second Monday which is a bit higher but the overall collection remains decent considering various factors.## Directed by Amit Rai, OMG 2 scored an estimated 3.75 crores net collection on its second Monday/11th day. This takes the total collection to around 117.50 crores net to date. The trend in multiplex centers is strong while mass centers continue to perform low for the movie.## OMG 2 will reach around 125 crores net mark by the end of the second week. The movie will have additional competition in the coming weekend in the form of Dream Girl 2, however, it should be able to retain maximum screens, especially in multiplexes.## It will be interesting to see if OMG 2 can go near the 150 crores mark as that should be its target from now on. Rishab Shetty's directorial movie, which also featured Shetty in the lead role, grossed over 400 crores worldwide against a budget of just around 15 crores. ## Produced by Hombale Films, "Kantara" is one of the biggest blockbusters in Indian cinema of all time, and very rightly so, the second part of the movie was also officially confirmed earlier this year. Now, according to Pinkvilla, "Kantara 2" will go on floors in November this year in Mangalore.## The script work of the movie has been completed and the makers are now busy with the pre-production work. "While the first part was shot in Shetty's hometown in Kandapura, Kantara 2 will prominently be shot in Mangalore. This location encompasses the required elements of jungle, land, and water as dictated by the script", says the report.## The movie will be shot over a period of 4 months on a bigger scale than the first part. The film has got bigger in budget and cast as well this time as makers plan to make it a proper Pan India blockbuster. "Kantara 2" is a prequel that explores the backstory of the folklore featured in the first part. The hyper-local story will delve into the origin of the deity, Panjurli Daiva.## "Kantara" was a massive success in Hindi as well with a gross collection approx. 100 crores, making it the second highest-grossing Kannada movie in the Hindi language. The latest R-rated historical drama has generated $718 million globally through the fifth weekend. ## Meanwhile, "Oppenheimer" is now the fifth highest-grossing movie in the IMAX format of all time. The Cillian Murphy-led movie has generated $146.4 million worldwide, including $80.8 million domestically (North America) and $146.4 million overseas after the 5th weekend.## "Oppenheimer" surpassed the final IMAX gross collection of Marvel Studios' "Avengers Infinity War" which made $143 million in this premium format. Los Angeles, August 21 - DC Studios' latest superhero movie "Blue Beetle" has a lower opening than expected at the domestic (North America) box office. The movie, however, dethroned Margot Robbie's mega-blockbuster " Barbie" to claim the number 1 spot during the weekend of August 18-20.## "Blue Beetle" scored $25.4 million in its opening weekend, which is the second lowest opening in the modern DC era, ahead of just "Wonder Woman 1984" ($16.7 million) which had a debacle day and date release on HBO Max during the peak of covid-19 pandemic in December 2020.## Directed by Ángel Manuel Soto, "Blue Beetle" was expected to project to score $30 million which would have still made it the lowest DC starter in 2023, behind "Shazam! Fury of the Gods" which grossed $30.1 million earlier this year.## At the international box office, "Blue Beetle" starring Xolo Maridueña as the alien symbiote, added $18 million from 63 markets. With $43 million globally, it's one of the softest starts in the history of the DC Cinematic Universe. In India, the movie has one of the lowest superhero openings with just around $720K (6 crores gross) in the 3-day weekend.## The audience word of mouth is positive for the movie with 92% on Rotten Tomatoes and CinemaScore is B+.
