Mumbai, July 16 - Tom Cruise-fronted "Mission Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One" is having a very good run at the Indian box office with the 5-day opening weekend estimated to reach 72+ crores gross in all versions. It was the first major summer Hollywood tentpole in India and the audience welcomed it with open arms. ## "Mission Impossible 7" is having a very good response in the IMAX format as the IMAX collection of the movie is over 5 crores gross in the first 4 days. Unfortunately, the movie will have just 10 days to get the benefit of IMAX screens as Christopher Nolan's atom bomb movie "Oppenheimer" will acquire all the IMAX screens from July 21. ## "Oppenheimer" has been shot entirely in IMAX and it is touted to be an IMAX wonder and a lifetime of opportunity to experience this 3-hours long film in this format. In India, the response has been crazy so far in the advanced sales of "Oppenheimer" in this premium format despite having ticket prices as high as Rs. 2000 or higher. ## There are currently 125 shows available in IMAX for the opening day in India and almost all the shows have an occupancy of over 85%. Mumbai, July 15 - Tom Cruise is putting on a show at the Indian box office with his latest blockbuster "Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning - Part One" as the movie is getting the benefit of the highly positive audience word of mouth. ## The 7th installment in the Mission Impossible franchise scored approx. 30.20 crores net in the first three days, including approx. 9.15 crores on its first Friday. The movie is having a huge jump of over 60% today/first Saturday as the collection is likely to be around 15.50-16.50 crores net in all versions. ## The first Saturday collection of MI7 will take the total collection to around 46 crores net in 4 days, and now, the 5-day weekend is looking to be around 61-64 crores which is a fantastic result. Mumbai, July 15 - The box office record of all-time blockbuster "Sairat" might be in danger as the latest Marathi sensation "Baipan Bhari Deva" is taking giant steps at the box office. ## "Baipan Bhari Deva" has become the 3rd highest-grossing Marathi movie of all time, and crossed the 50 crores gross mark on its 16th day. On its 17th day, the comedy-drama movie grossed an estimated 7 crores, which takes the total collection to over 60 crores (51 crores net).## The third-weekend collection of "Baipan Bhaari Deva" is looking to be on par with the second-weekend collection. By the next weekend, it will cross Riteish Deshmukh's "Ved" (73 crores gross) to become the second biggest Marathi movie of all time. ## It is quite historic that the second-week collection (29.60 crores gross) of BBD scored a growth of over 100% over the first-week collection (14.70 crores gross). Written and directed by Anup Thapa, the film is based on the true event of the Somnath invasion of Mahmud Ghazni. ## "The Battle Story of Somnath" is a multilingual project which will be released in twelve major Indian languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Marathi. The movie was announced today (July 15) with an animated teaser. ## The teaser of the film gives a background of the Somnath Jyotirling's history across the Yugas as it says, "The saga of history, the first Jyotirling of Lord Shiv. Chandra Dev made it from gold in Satyug. Made from brass by Ravan in Tretayug. Lord Shri Krishna in Dwaparyug. The first biggest invader Mahmud Ghazni, the 1025 CE attack. Mumbai, July 15 - The makers of Malayalam superstar Mohanlal's Pan India movie "Vrushabha" has locked the female lead cast. Directed by Nanda Kishore, who directed the hit Kannada movie "Pogaru", the film is an epic action-entertainer transcending generations. ## The makers have roped in Shanaya Kapoor and Pop Diva Zahrah S Khan to play the female lead opposite Telugu actor Roshann Meka in the movie. Shanaya plays a pivotal role that bridging the gap between the past and present timelines of this film while Zahrah plays a warrior princess and has some major action scenes in the film. ## The movie will be produced by Abhishek Vyas, Vishal Gurnani, Juhi Parekh Mehta of AVS Studios, Shyam Sunder of First Step Movies, Ektaa R Kapoor, Shobha Kapoor of Balaji Telefilms, and Varun Mathur of Connekkt Media. Mumbai, July 15 - Filmmaker Rohit Shetty takes the blame on himself for the box office failure of the comedy caper "Cirkus" starring Ranveer Singh in a double role. Released in December last year, the movie failed miserably to gross just around 60 crores, becoming the lowest-grossing film of Shetty since "All The Best" (2009) at the worldwide box office. ## During a recent interview with India Today, the maverick filmmaker said that every success and failure of his movies belongs to him. "I make sure to surround myself with people who are honest with me. So, when a film doesn't do well, I know it. Hence, I have always believed that both my successes and failures are mine. There is no point shying away from it", he said.## "When a 'Singham' or a 'Golmaal' did well, that was also mine, so when a 'Zameen' (2003), a 'Dilwale' or a 'Cirkus' failed, that was also mine. I don't see a point in blaming anything else", Shetty added.## The "Singham" director further said that "Cirkus" was made during the pandemic for the workers so that they can earn their livelihood. Shetty's next theatrical release is the highly-anticipated third installment of the "Singham" franchise starring Ajay Devgn which is due to start filming next month and be released during Independence Day weekend 2024.## Shetty promises to make a solid comeback with "Singham Again". "The same audience made 'Sooryanshi' a blockbuster despite a 50% occupancy, and if it didn't work for 'Cirkus', I must take ownership of failures as well. That's not to say that I won't bounce back with the 'Singham' franchise again or 'Golmaal' or any other film, and I might make 'Cirkus' again, too". ## Meanwhile, Rohit Shetty is currently busy with the promotion of his hosted daredevil show "Khathron Ke Khiladi 13" which premiers on July 15 on Colors TV. The first three days' collection of the movie is very good as these come in the proper working days after the Wednesday release. ## "MI 7" will see a big jump tomorrow and might touch 15 crores net mark before seeing another good jump on Sunday to take the 5-day opening weekend collection easily to over 60 crores net. The franchise kicked off in 2016, followed by its sequels in 2018 and 2020. ## According to Pinkvilla, Sajid Nadiwala and his team of writers have developed a plot to take the action franchise forward. "The subject will retain the essence of the franchise but has got a new spin keeping the post-pandemic sensibilities in mind", the report states.## It is said that Sajid Nadiadwala is in talks with an A-Lister to come on board to play the main antagonist as the makers are putting efforts to pull off a casting coup for the movie that is expected to be announced soon.## Meanwhile, the producer is currently gearing up for the release of Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor's "Bawaal" which is slated for Amazon Prime Video debut on July 21 while his "Satyaprem Ki Katha" starring Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani is playing in theaters successfully. ## The filmmaker has already announced "Housefull 5" and "Chandu Champion" in the pipeline for 2024 release. The stakes are high for the two most-anticipated movies that received high-flying reception from their respective premiers. ## "Barbie", which stars Margot Robbie as the live-action form of the iconic fashion doll with Ryan Gosling as Ken, is expected to win the initial box office battle against "Oppenheimer" which is based on the 2005 biography American Prometheus by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin about J. Robert Oppenheimer, the theoretical physicist who helped develop the first nuclear weapons on the Manhattan Project. ## The Warner Bros. Pictures distribution, "Barbie" is projected to earn $75+ million while Universal Pictures' "Oppenheimer" is tracking $40+ million in their opening weekend. Ahead of the showdown begins, "Barbie" gets the upper hand over Nolan's directorial by striking more theaters in the domestic (North America) markets. ## According to Hollywood reports, "Barbie" will officially open in 4100 theaters while "Oppenheimer" land in approx. 3600 theaters in the first week in North America. "Oppenheimer", however, will have access to all the IMAX screens available in North America as Paramount's "Mission: Impossible 7", which released on July 12, will have to drop its IMAX screens from July 21, as a part of the agreement. ## "Oppenheimer" is anticipated to be an IMAX treat for the cine lovers and the movie has zero CGI shots, as confirmed by Nolan himself. Los Angeles, July 14 - Disney CEO Bob Iger has admitted that Marvel making a number of Disney+ series is diluting the audiences' focus and attention from theatrical tentpole and this is one of the main reasons for the underwhelming box office performance of recent Marvel and Disney movies.## During a recent interview with CNBC's David Faber (via Variety), Iger cited that the studio has screwed up audiences' expectations by making so much Disney-plus content. Over the last few months, Disney has had some major setbacks regarding the theatrical outcome as films like "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania", "Elemental" and "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny", disappoint at the box office.## "There have been some disappointments. We would have liked some of our more recent releases to perform better", Iger said. "It's reflective not as a problem from a personnel perspective, but I think in our zeal to basically grow our content significantly to serve mostly our streaming offerings, we ended up taxing our people way beyond — in terms of their time and their focus — way beyond where they had been".## He continued, "Marvel's a great example of that. They had not been in the TV business at any significant level. Not only did they increase their movie output, but they ended up making a number of television series, and frankly, it diluted focus and attention. That is, I think, more of the cause than anything".## Apart from the live-action movies, the underwhelming box office performances of Pixar's "Elemental" and "Lightyear" also came as a major shock to Disney. Pixar movies have given rich rewards to Disney over the year and Iger admits that the studio's decision to put three Pixar movies, "Soul", "Luca" and "Turning Red" on Disney+ in a row during the pandemic has created a negative impact on the audiences. ## "There were three Pixar releases in a row that went direct to streaming, in part because of — mostly because of COVID. And I think that may have created an expectation in the audience that they're going to eventually be on streaming and probably quickly, and there wasn't an urgency.
