Bengaluru, May 7 - Superstar Yash-fronted "KGF Chapter 2" is winning the race to become the highest-grossing Indian movie of the year. For the Indian HGOTY title, there was a clear battle between "KGF 2" and SS Rajamouli's "RRR", and it is the former that is taking the honour, though a lot to happen with blockbuster titles releasing throughout the year. ## Directed by Prashanth Neel, "KGF Chapter 2" has stormed past 1100 crores worldwide through 4th Friday. It will most likely outdo "RRR" with today's (4th Saturday) collection. "RRR", starring Jr. NTR/Ram Charan is nearing its end and has grossed 1112 crores through 6 weeks. The collection of "RRR" includes 904 crores domestically and 208 crores from overseas. ## While there won't be much difference between the two movies as far as the lifetime box office collections are concerned, "KGF Chapter 2's" overall total got a huge boost from the Hindi version with 400 crores net mark as compared to 265 crores of "RRR". Overall, "KGF 2" has so far scored 1101.2 crores, including 916 crores domestically and 185 crores overseas. ## Among the all-time highest-grossing Indian movies at the worldwide box office, "KGF 2" will finish at number 3 in the list with "RRR" to follow at number 4. Hyderabad, May 7 - SS Rajamouli's "RRR" has had a historic run at the box office, grossing over 1100 crores worldwide. The movie, starring Jr. NTR/Ram Charan in the lead, was promised to bring back the glory of Indian cinema and it has fulfilled that by becoming a rage among the domestic as well as overseas audiences. ## Produced by DVV Entertainment, "RRR" has completed six weeks in theaters as its run is coming to an end. It will be available on OTT platforms after 10 weeks of its theatrical release. The South Indian versions are acquired by Zee Studios while the Hindi version will be available on Netflix. ## Meanwhile, the South languages versions of "RRR" are gearing to stream on Zee Plex via pay-per-view before it is made available free for all the subscribers on ZEE5. As per reports, the period action drama movie is heading for the PPV model on Zee Plex from May 20th. There is no information regarding the Hindi version. ## "RRR" is one of the costliest films ever made in Indian cinema. Los Angeles, May 6 - Marvel Studios/Dinsey's "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" scored a remarkable Thursday preview with $36 million at the domestic (North America) box office. This is the biggest Thursday preview score for a Hollywood movie in 2022 and the 8th overall of all time. ## Directed by Sam Raimi, "Doctor Strange 2" has been released in 4545 theaters in North America, which is the biggest release since 2019 and 5th biggest of all time. As compared to the recent top releases, "The Batman" was released in 4417 theaters, followed by "No Time To Die" (4407), and "Spider-Man: No Way Home" (4336). ## "Doctor Strange 2" has been projected to score $150 million - $200 million in the opening weekend domestically. The numbers might go up with a strong 89% audience score on Rotton Tomatoes, though the critics' score is on the lower side with 77%.## Meanwhile, the first Doctor Strange opened to $85 million domestically in 2016, launching a new franchise for Marvel. Mumbai, May 6 - Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar will kickstart the promotion of his upcoming magnum opus, "Prithviraj" with the trailer on May 9. The long-awaited historical action drama based on the life of Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan is written and directed by Padma Shri awardee Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi. ## Akshay, in a recent interview, opened up about the movie and said that he was taken aback by the amount of research done on the film to keep it the most authentic. "Writing and directing a historical is not an easy job and I was deeply impressed that he has left no stone unturned to ensure that we are paying the most glorious tribute to Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan’s life and valour", the actor said as per Gulf News. ## "He waited for 18 years of his life nurturing and making Prithviraj the most glorious retelling of the Samrat's life. I hope that people love this film and it becomes the most authentic reference point for the mighty king's life", he added. ## Director Dwivedi had personally worked on the script from 2004 to 2019 and he kept updating the script every year. The director said that producer Aditya Chopra of Yash Raj Films, "converted an entire floor of YRF into a research wing for Prithviraj".## The makers are also planning to "to showcase all this research work to people and the teams are working to see how best they can display this research so that people understand the magnitude of work that was undertaken to give the best possible salute to the glorious king Prithviraj". ## "Prithviraj" marks former Miss World, Manushi Chhillar's Bollywood debut. However, nothing worked out despite the rumors of both joining hands for the sequel to "PK". ## Last year, it was reported that Aamir and Ranbir liked a script and might join hands to do the film. However, the delay in Aamir's "Laal Singh Chaddha" and Ranbir's films once again spoiled the party as there had been no news about the same since then. It has now been reported by Pinkvilla that the project is indeed on it might be directed by Anurag Basu, who previously worked with Ranbir on Barfi and Jagga Jasoos. ## According to the report, Anurag Basu is working to develop a screenplay for both actors. It is said to be a visual effect-heavy subject that will be produced by Aamir Khan's own production house. "The movie is in a very nascent stage at the moment, in fact, the duo of AK and RK will decide on doing it only once they are absolutely satisfied with the final output", Pinkvilla reports. ## "It's high on the VFX project, and hence an extremely risky proposition. Being the perfectionist that Aamir is, he wants to have a visual blueprint of what the film would look like", the report further read. If all goes well, the film might start rolling out sometime next year upon the completion of Aamir and Ranbir's current pending films. ## Meanwhile, Aamir Khan is waiting for the release of his much-awaited comedy-drama film, "Laal Singh Chaddha", due on August 11, 2022, release. Mumbai, May 6 - The summer box office madness begins with Marvel Studios' "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness". Ahead of its domestic (North American) launch today (May 6), "Doctor Strange 2" was kicked off with a strong $27 million opening from 20 international markets. ## The opening day gross box office collection of Sam Raimi-directed in international markets was only 4 percent behind the recent release "Spider-Man: No Way Home" and 210 percent ahead of DC's "The Batman". It is also 153% more than its preceder, released in 2016. ## Among key opening day markets of "Doctor Strange 2", South Korea led the chart with $5.9 million, followed by Japan ($3.8 million), France ($3 million), Italy ($2.2 million), Germany ($1.8 million), Malaysia ($1.6 million) and Thailand ($1.2 million). It is opening today in India along with domestic and other international markets. ## The Benedict Cumberbatch-fronted movie with Elizabeth Olsen playing the second lead, "Doctor Strange 2" is tracking to launch domestic weekend between $160 million and $200 million. Box Office: KGF Chapter 2 Crosses RRR To Become Second-Highest Grossing Film Domestically

Bengaluru, May 6 - Yash-starrer "KGF Chapter 2" has been on a record-breaking box office run since its launch on April 14 and has set new standards for the upcoming movies. On top of that, the Prashanth Neel-directed movie has now become the second highest-grossing movie of all time at the domestic box office, beating SS Rajamouli's "RRR". ## "KGF Chapter 2" has grossed over 910 crores at the Indian box office for all languages through the third Thursday. It is only the second film after "Baahubali 2 The Conclusion" to have crossed the 900 crores mark in India. Rajamouli's recently released "RRR" has so far grossed 898+ crores and still running in select theaters. It will end its run crossing the 900 crores mark in coming days. ## Talking about the Yash-fronted, it has become an all-time blockbuster in the dubbed Hindi version with a net collection nearing the 400 crores mark. Through third Thursday (May 5), the movie has scored approx. 398 crores or 470 crores gross, which is the second highest-ever in Hindi after "Baahubali 2" (510.99 cr). It is eying its Hindi run to finish over 420 crores. ## The other versions of the movie have minted approx. 440 crores gross so far with the original Kannada version leading 155 crores gross. As reported earlier, "KGF 2" is the only film to have reached 100 crores gross in four Indian languages. Mumbai, May 5 - Marvel Studios/Sony Pictures' "Spider-Man: No Way Home" was one of the first films to bring the Indian box office on its strong feet with big box office numbers in December last year. And now, another Marvel movie with Disney, "Doctor Strange: In The Multiverse Of Madness" is ready to roar in India. ## Directed by Sam Raimi, "Doctor Strange 2" has been one of the most-awaited non-Indian movies and the advance booking for the same was opened nearly a month before its release on May 6 in multiple languages. As expected, the superhero movie is getting a phenomenal response in the advance sales as it has already reached 28 crores gross. ## The original English version of the movie is leading the advance sales with approx. 19.70 crores gross, including all formats, followed by the Hindi version with approx. 7 crores gross. The Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada versions have scored approx. 1.30 crore in advance sales. ## The advance booking of the "Doctor Strange" sequel is very much in line with "Spider-Man: No Way Home" which scored 22.50 crores gross in advances for the first day, mostly with 50% occupancy. While Tom Holland-fronted movie took the opening of 32.67 crores net or 41.50 crores gross for all languages in India, "Doctor Strange" might open with a lesser number. As of now, the movie is tracking to earn around 30-32 crores net or 40 crores gross (+/-), which will be a huge opening. ## In a long run, "Doctor Strange 2" might not reach the box office figures of "Spider-Man: No Way Home", which grossed 260+ crores in India.
