The Raja Saab Vs Jana Nayagan Advance Booking (North America): Prabhas-starrer Locks Into A Tight Battle With Vijay's Actioner

Los Angeles, January 7 - The North American box office is witnessing an intense pre-release clash, not among the local titles but two Indian blockbusters, which gear up to hit the big screens over the Pongal/Sankranthi festival. Pan Indian superstar Prabhas' The Raja Saab and Tamil superstar Thalapathy Vijay's Jana Nayagan have locked in for a tight battle as far as pre-sales are concerned. With both films slated for a January 9 release, with premieres scheduled for January 8, the overseas market, especially the US, has become a key battleground for the two potential mega blockbusters, setting the tone for what could be one of the biggest South Indian box office face-offs of very early 2026, a year, that can redefine the true potential of Indian cinema. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The Raja Saab has the advantage of being a Prabhas-starrer, whose films have historically done well in North America. The romantic horror comedy opened bookings well ahead of its rival, but it hasn't picked up as was expected, even though it remains good with almost $750K for premieres as of 10 AM IST on January 7. As said, the pace has been relatively moderate compared to Prabhas' previous blockbusters, making the race far more competitive than initially expected. On the other hand, Vijay's political action thriller has emerged as the surprise package. Despite opening bookings much later, the Tamil actioner has shown sharp momentum, with rapid growth in daily ticket sales across the US and Canada. Riding on this surge, Jana Nayagan has inched ahead with approximately $825K in pre-sales, marginally overtaking The Raja Saab in the North American booking race. The box office battle of The Raja Saab and Jana Nayagan, which wasn't expected to be this intense, is also generating huge buzz back home. Even though it is relatively a no-contest here since both films belong to different industries with not much challenge to each other in their respective home market, The Raja Saab could emerge as an overall winner, given the genre and massive Pan India stardom of Prabhas. Tom Cruise's Space Movie Cancelled: Here Is Why

Mumbai, December 30 - Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise has reportedly cancelled his space movie, which he was supposed to film in outer space, under the direction of Doug Liman, who previously directed the actor in American Made and Edge of Tomorrow. Tom Cruise had been preparing for a sci-fi movie, in an attempt to shoot it in outer space. But according to the latest report by Page Six, the film has been cancelled after Cruise reportedly refused to ask for President Donald Trump's help in its production. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) As reported earlier, for Cruise to film in space, he and director Liman needed to collaborate with NASA for the project. However, the actor would have had to ask a favour of President Trump to make it happen, which the actor didn't want to do. The untitled movie was announced in 2020 and was supposed to start by now. It was set to be made with both NASA and SpaceX's involvement to ensure it could be shot into space. However, the federal government, and specifically the President, would have needed to sign off on the plan, which Cruise didn't want to. Meanwhile, Cruise has been working on multiple projects. Earlier this year, he wrapped filming on a new black comedy directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu and is also reportedly in talks with Paramount to work on the third Top Gun movie. Stay tuned...

Salman Khan's Battle of Galwan Teaser Triggers Attention From China

Mumbai, December 30 - The recently released teaser of superstar Salman Khan's war drama Battle of Galwan has managed to trigger attention from China. The movie, directed by Apoorva Lakhia, also stars Chitrangda Singh as the female lead alongside Zeyn Shaw, Ankur Bhatia, and Vipin Bhardwaj. The teaser is getting mixed reactions from Indian users, and at the same time, China's mouthpiece, Global Times, has reacted to the film, citing Chinese expert views. The movie is based on the events that took place between the Indian and Chinese troops at the Galwan region in June 2020, when 200 Indian soldiers bravely defended their territory against a force of 1200 Chinese Liberation Army soldiers. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) As per the Global Times, a Chinese expert said on Monday that "Bollywood films at most provide an entertainment-driven, emotionally charged portrayal, but no amount of cinematic exaggeration can rewrite history or shake the PLA's determination to defend China's sovereign territory". Produced by Salman Khan Films, Battle of Galwan features Salman Khan as Colonel Bikkumalla Santosh Babu of the Bihar Regiment, who led his life defending the Indian territory. The film is scheduled to release on April 17, 2026, in the theatres worldwide, as one of the marquee Indian releases of the year. Stay tuned...

Episode 7 of Stranger Things 5 Turns Nightmare For Netflix: Here Is Why

Los Angeles, December — One of the most loved web shows, Stranger Things, hits an unexpected rough patch for Netflix. Episode 7 of Season 5, the penultimate chapter titled The Bridge, has triggered massive backlash online, turning into what many are calling a nightmare for Netflix just days before the series finale. Soon after release, ST5 witnessed an unprecedented drop in audience ratings across major platforms. It became the lowest-rated season in the show's history, a shocking development for a show that has enjoyed near-universal acclaim over the years. For a penultimate episode, typically designed to peak tension and hype, the response was far below expectations. One of the biggest concerns for Netflix is the clear review bombing that followed Volume 2's release. Thousands of one-star ratings flooded IMDb and other platforms within hours, particularly for episode 7. This sudden surge in negative reactions significantly dragged down the episode's overall score and dominated online discourse. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) A backlash campaign for the show seemed to ignite after the sci-fi horror thriller series' penultimate episode, The Bridge, which features a scene in which Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) comes out as gay to his friends. The lengthy monologue came as the Hawkins gang geared up to face Vecna, the big bad from the Upside Down. The Bridge is now the lowest-rated episode of the entire Stranger Things show on IMDb, with a score of 5.4 out of 10. (It's the only episode below a 7.8, with most ranging between 8.6 and 9.2.) More than 96,000 users reviewed The Bridge episode on IMDb, while fewer than 50,000 people have rated most other episodes this season. The backlash for episode 7 has particularly been in the USA, where over 7K users gave 1-star ratings, followed by Saudi Arabia with 4K users. In India, 1.5K users have reviewed the episode with 1-star ratings. The recent episodes have dragged the season's Rotten Tomatoes score from the 70s down to 56%, a stark decline from the show's previous seasons. (For reference, the Season 4 Popcornmeter sits at 89%, Season 3 at 86%, Season 2 at 90% and Season 1 at 96%.) (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Why This Is a Nightmare for Netflix For Netflix, the situation is particularly damaging because Stranger Things is one of its flagship global brands. The backlash arrived right before the series finale, which might harm the overall viewership on the platform and also its box office prospects (the final episode will have a theatrical release in North America). The show's finale is scheduled to release on New Year's Eve, and as said, will have limited theatrical release. In India, it will drop on Netflix on January 1st at 6 AM. All eyes are now on Episode 8, and how the audience perceives it. Stay tuned...

Dhurandhar Box Office (Worldwide): Becomes Highest-Grossing Indian Film In A Single Language

Mumbai, December 30 - Director Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar continues to set new benchmarks for Indian cinema with a lifetime theatrical run. Having already crossed 1000 crores at the worldwide box office, the spy action thriller has now become the highest-grossing Indian title of all-time in a single language. The Ranveer Singh-starrer is the only non-multilingual Indian film to enter 1000 crores (without China). However, it was Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2 and Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan, which were the biggest Indian grossers in a single language, having crossed 1050+ crores each in the Hindi version at the worldwide box office, before Dhurandhar surpassed them. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The latest box office phenomenon has become the biggest Indian grosser of all-time in a single language, having already crossed the 1075 crores mark through the 4th Monday. The first of the two-part saga will enter 1100 crores worldwide by today or tomorrow. Overall, Dhurandhar is currently the 7th biggest Indian grosser when taking all versions. By the next weekend, it will become the biggest Bollywood grosser, by crossing Jawan's 1160 crores worldwide cume in all versions. Aamir Khan's Dangal, however, is currently the biggest Indian grosser with 2070 crores, but more than 1300 crores of its collection came from China, which is not a regular market for Indian films. Jana Nayagan Advance Booking: Vijay's Political Actioner Hits 1 Crore Gross In Karnataka For Opening Day

Bengaluru, December 29 – Thalapathy Vijay's much-anticipated political action drama Jana Nayagan has kick-started its advance booking on a powerful note in Karnataka. Despite a very limited showcasing so far, the film has already grossed around 1 crore for the opening day (January 9) in the state, sending strong early signals ahead of its theatrical release. The advance bookings of the film have opened only for 20+ early-morning shows across Karnataka. With such restricted showcasing, the film managing to touch the 1 crore gross mark underlines Vijay's massive fan base in the region and the extraordinary pre-release buzz surrounding the film. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Most of the available shows, particularly in Bengaluru, have reported fast-filling occupancies, with several screenings heading towards sold-out status within hours of bookings opening. This is a clear indication of explosive demand, and the numbers are expected to multiply significantly once full-day bookings and additional screens are opened closer to release. Directed by H Vinoth as a high-voltage political actioner, Jana Nayagan carries huge expectations, especially given that it is going to be the last film of Vijay's career as he enters politics after that. The film's booking momentum suggests that it could register one of the biggest openings for a Vijay starrer in non-Tamil markets, including Karnataka. Stay tuned...

Mumbai, December 29 - James Cameron's sci-fi epic Avatar franchise has scripted a historic moment at the box office, becoming the first movie trilogy ever to cross the $6 billion mark worldwide, after the thunderous response to the latest instalment, Avatar: Fire and Ash. The milestone has been achieved through the combined earnings of Avatar (2009), which grossed $2.92 billion (including re-release runs), Avatar: The Way of Water (2022), which scored $2.34 billion and Avatar: Fire and Ash (2025), which has so far grossed $760 million. Each chapter of the Pandora saga has been a massive theatrical event, drawing audiences across continents and setting new benchmarks for cinematic spectacle and scale. The original Avatar remains the biggest box office juggernaut of all time, having redefined global cinema with its groundbreaking 3D technology and immersive world-building. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Its sequel, The Way of Water, further cemented the franchise's legacy by emerging as another multi-billion-dollar blockbuster, proving that the magic of Pandora had not faded even after more than a decade. The newly released Avatar: Fire and Ash has now pushed the trilogy past the historic $6 billion milestone, despite the continued doubts over the franchise's future. The film has opened to a strong global start, registering impressive numbers across North America, Europe, and key Asian markets, including India. With $760 million through the second weekend, Avatar 3 is already among the biggest grossers of the year and is heading towards the $1 billion mark this week. Dhurandhar Box Office (Worldwide): Surpassed Kalki 2898 AD and Pathaan To Become the 7th Biggest Indian Grosser

Mumbai, December 29 - Jio Studios and B62 Studios' spy action thriller Dhurandhar continues its marvels-que theatrical run as it has become the seventh highest-grossing Indian film at the worldwide box office at the end of the 4th weekend, with so much more yet to come. The Ranveer Singh-starrer had the record 4th weekend for a Bollywood title, grossing 90+ crores worldwide. It crossed 1000 crores gross mark during the weekend, and eventually topped Prabhas' Kalki 2898 AD (1040+ crores) and Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan (1055 crores) to become the 7th biggest Indian grosser of all-time. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) In India, Dhurandhar has already become the biggest Bollywood grosser ever, reaching around 828 crores at the end of the 4th weekend (24 days), while its overseas performance also has not been less than been extraordary with a total so far of around 237 crores, for the worldwide cume of 1065+ crores. Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar will look to surpass Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan (1160 crores) by the next weekend, which will make it the biggest Bollywood grosser of all-time (without China collection). Aamir Khan's Dangal is the number 1 Indian film with over 2000 crores, including 1300 crores gross from China alone. Dhurandhar is headed to finish with 1200+ crores gross at the global box office, and is likely to end its theatrical run by becoming the 4th biggest Indian grosser of all-time, beating KGF: Chapter 2 (1215 crores) and RRR (1230 crores). The second part of Dhurandhar is scheduled to release on March 19, 2026, and given how massively the first part has performed, the upcoming film might set a new benchmark for Indian cinema. Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri Box Office: Kartik Aaryan-starrer Scores Low First Weekend

Mumbai, December 29 - In the year where romantic films made the most at the box office, Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Pandey-starrer Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri seems to be going the opposite direction after the low opening weekend at the domestic box office. Directed by Sameer Vidwans, TMMTMTTM was originally scheduled to release in February 2026, before the makers moved the release date up twice, but the move didn't work due to poor reviews and competition with Dhurandhar and Avatar: Fire and Ash, which have dominated the month so far. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) TMMTMTTM opened in the 7-8 crores net range, that too on Christmas day and after the alleged feeding. The opening itself suggested the muted interest of moviegoers, and poor reviews further made its life difficult at the box office, as the movie remained flat throughout the opening weekend. As per estimates, the romantic comedy scored 23-24 crores in net collection over its 4-day opening weekend, one of the lowest for a Bollywood title featuring notable actors. With the debut itself on the lower side, the film will need a miracle to sustain, even on the lower side, as word of mouth doesn't seem to be in favour of it. Stay tuned...

Spirit Release Date Buzz: Prabhas' Spirit First Look and Release Date To Be Unveiled On New Year

Hyderabad, December 29 – The excitement around superstar Prabhas' upcoming pan-India film Spirit continues to grow, and the latest update suggests that fans are in for a major update in the New Year 2026. According to an earlier report by Gulte.com, the makers have been planning a special New Year's surprise to set the tone for what is being touted as a gritty cop actioner. Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga has now confirmed that the first look of the film is dropping tonight, at 12 AM on January 1st. The filmmaker said to have done the principal shoot session for the first look of Prabhas recently. It is said that apart from the first look, the director might also unveil the release date of the film. He had also dropped the first look of his previous film Animal on New Year's night 2023 (Dec 31, 2022). (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Known for designing striking and discussion-worthy promotional material, Vanga is reportedly timing the reveal to create maximum impact. The first look is expected to showcase Prabhas in a never-seen-before intense avatar, which has remained a closely guarded secret since the film was announced. Although there is no official confirmation from the production house or the director yet, the buzz has already created a wave of excitement among fans across social media. Spirit marks Prabhas' first collaboration with Sandeep Reddy Vanga, making it one of the most awaited films in Indian cinema. Backed by T-Series and Bhadrakali Productions, the film is being developed as a large-scale pan-India action drama. Prabhas is reportedly playing a police officer, and the narrative is expected to be raw, gritty, and emotionally charged, elements that are signature to Vanga's filmmaking style. With shooting progressing and anticipation steadily building, a New Year first look would be a strategic move to place Spirit firmly in the spotlight. Also starring Tripti Dimri, Vivek Oberoi and Kanchana, the film is likely to be released in 2027. Stay tuned...
