Box Office: Avatar 2 Officially Becomes Third Highest-Grossing Film Ever
Los Angeles, February 20 - James Cameron's Avatar: The Way of Water has officially raced past his own Titanic to become the third highest-grossing film ever at the global box office.



The sci-fi sequel, released in December last year, has grossed $2.243 billion through 10th Sunday. Titanic, which had grossed $2.194 billion worldwide before a global 3D rerelease earlier this month, now stands at $2.242 billion globally as 4th highest-grossing title ever.



Avatar 2 has raked in $657 million at the domestic (North America) box office, becoming the 9th biggest movie of all time there. Overseas, it has scored $1.59 billion over 52 markets. The movie is eyeing a $2.3+ billion lifetime total which will still keep it at number 3.

The top 10 international markets of Avatar 2 through the 10th Sunday are as follows: China ($248.10 million), France ($147.9 million), Germany ($138 million), Korea ($107.50 million), the UK ($91.6 million), Australia ($62.3 million), India ($59 million), Mexico ($55.5 million), Spain ($52 million), and Italy ($48 million).



The all-time list of the highest-grossing films is topped by Cameron's original Avatar ($2.92 billion), followed by the Russo brothers' Avengers: Endgame ($2.79 billion).
