Mumbai, July 9 - The half of the year has been completed, and IMDb has unveiled the list of the top 10 most popular Indian movies of 2025 so far. The list includes films released between January 1, 2025 and July 1, 2025, that have an average IMDb user rating of 6 or higher with at least 10,000 votes. ## Determined by the actual page views of the more than 250 million monthly visitors to IMDb worldwide, all the top 10 popular films had a theatrical release. Of the top 10 titles, six are Bollywood films, followed by three Tamil films, and one Malayalam movie. ## 1. Chhaava (Hindi) - Directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Maddock Films, the historical action drama features Vicky Kaushal, Rashmika Mandanna, and Akshaye Khanna in the leading roles. It is currently the highest-grossing Indian film with over 800 crores gross collection at the worldwide box office. ## 2. Dragon (Tamil) - Directed by Ashwath Marimuthu and starring Pradeep Ranganathan, Anupama Parameswaran, Kayadu Lohar, Mysskin, and Gautham Vasudev Menon, Dragon is a coming-of-age comedy-drama released on February 21, 2025. 'Marco' Franchise To Continue With Bollywood Actor?

Kochi, July 1 - A couple of weeks after actor Unni Mukundan announced that he had dropped plans for a sequel to the action thriller Marco, the makers have now confirmed that the franchise will go on (with or without him). ## Cubes Entertainments, the production house behind Marco, clarified that they hold the complete rights to the franchise and intend to move forward, despite the actor's withdrawal. The clarification came in response to a fan comment urging the studio to either proceed with Marco 2 or transfer the rights to another banner. ## "Thank you for the overwhelming love and support for Marco. Discussions regarding the Marco series are still not over yet. Cubes Entertainment exclusively owns all rights to Marco, and we firmly believe the journey of Marco holds immense potential. Please note: We are not open to transferring or sharing the rights of this franchise,” the studio stated, as per a report by Onmanorama.com. ## Meanwhile, reports suggest that Marco 2 may be in development with a Bollywood actor stepping into the lead role, although no official confirmation has been made. Kochi, June 23 - After the official announcement, director Jeethu Joseph has dropped a major update regarding Drishyam 3. There have been speculations that the Hindi version of this crime suspense thriller will be different, unlike the first two movies, which were remakes of the original Malayalam films. ## During a recent conversation with the Times of India, director Jeethu Joseph, who directed the first two Malayalam versions of Drishyam 3 and will return for the third instalment, said that the script of the upcoming film is nearing completion and contrary to the rumours, he confirmed the plot will be same in all versions. ## "There have been reports that the Hindi version will have a different story, but that's not true. The Hindi film will also be based on my story. Once I complete my script, it will be shared with the Hindi team, who will then adapt it to suit their setting and make suitable cultural changes", the filmmaker said. ## Both Hindi and Malayalam versions of Drishyam 3 will start rolling in October this year. There were rumours that the Malayalam movie would be released before the Hindi, but Jeethu Joseph hinted that both versions may have a simultaneous release. ## "There was a request from their side for a simultaneous release. So, we have been discussing the prospect of releasing the films simultaneously. In this OTT age, they feel that releasing on different dates might reduce the film's impact in other languages", he added. ## It is confirmed that Drishyam 3 Hindi will be directed by Abhishek Pathak and will see Ajay Devgn and the rest of the cast reprising their roles. Mega Blockbuster 'Thudarum' Creates Record For Mollywood On Book My Show

Kochi, May 19 - Superstar Mohanlal's mega blockbuster Thudarum continues to rewrite history for Malayalam cinema with the record-breaking box office run. It is a back-to-back blockbuster for Lalettan after Empuraan, which is the sequel to Lucifer (2019). ## Thudarum has stunned the Mollywood trade and become the first film to top 100 crores gross collection in Kerala state. Now, it has created a major milestone for the industry, selling the highest number of tickets on the online ticketing platform, BookMyShow. ## Directed by Tharun Moorthy, the film has sold approximately 4.35 million tickets (43.5 lakh) on the platform so far, surpassing Manjummel Boys, which sold approximately 42 lakh tickets in its lifetime run on BMS. Overall, Thudarum has sold approximately 80 lakh tickets, including online and offline. ## At the box office, the drama thriller has grossed approximately 223 crores worldwide, including 131.50 crores gross at the Indian box office in 24 days so far. 'Thudarum' Beats 'Empuraan' To Emerge The Second Biggest Malayalam Grosser At The Domestic Box Office

Kochi, May 16 - Superstar Mohanlal has outdone himself to reign supreme at the box office as his latest sensation Thudarum has outgrossed his recent blockbuster L2: Empuraan to emerge as the second biggest Malayalam grosser domestically. ## Directed by Tharun Moorthy, Thudarum has grossed approximately 125 crores at the Indian box office in 21 days so far, outgrossing the entire domestic run of Empuraan (124.50 crores approx) to emerge as the number 2 grosser. Manjummel Boys remains the number 1 with 167.50 crores gross in India. ## Thudarum had earlier become the first movie ever to top 100 crore gross collection in Kerala state. It has been a one-horse race ever since it was released on April 25. The consistently strong day-wise performance of the movie took it past 200 crores worldwide as the third Malayalam title to achieve the feat after Empuraan (267 crores) and Manjummel Boys (241 crores), and the second fastest to do so. ## In 21 days, the movie has minted approximately 215 crores worldwide, including around 90 crores at the overseas box office.
