Rishab Shetty's Kantara Chapter 1 Advance Booking Update

Bengaluru, September 25 - After scoring an unexpected big box office success with Kantara in 2022, Hombale Films announced Kantara 2, which is the prequel to the first film. Directed and headlined by Rishab Shetty, it has been one of the most anticipated Indian films with stakes higher than before.

After going through an intense production process, the movie is finally ready to release on October 2, 2025, in multiple languages. With just a week to go before release, Hombale Films has confirmed that the advance booking of the Kantara prequel will open on September 26 in its home turf, Karnataka.

The all-India booking of the film is expected to open on September 28 or 29, including the Hindi version. The dubbed Hindi version proved to be a big box office success back in 2022, with around 100 crores gross, and now, the trade is excited to see how things unfold for Kantara 2.

As said, the pre-sales will go live first in Karnataka, where the movie is expected to see one of the best responses for a Kannada title. The movie is rooted in the local culture, which is a massive advantage for it in setting the box office on fire.

Starring Rishab Shetty in the lead role alongside Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram, and Gulshan Devaiah, Kantara 2's story delves deeper into the origins of the mythological tradition and ancestral conflict introduced in the first film. Set in pre-colonial coastal Karnataka, the film is expected to explore the ancient roots of the Bhuta Kola ritual and the folklore and history explored in the first film released in 2022.

Yash's Toxic Release Date To Be Rescheduled; Makers Reveal Reason

BY SACNILK

Bengaluru, April 29 - Superstar Yash-fronted much-anticipated action drama Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups has officially been postponed from its previously announced release date. The makers confirmed that the film will no longer arrive in theatres on June 4, opting instead for a later, globally aligned release window. The movie is directed by Geethu Mohandas and also stars Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth, and Tara Sutaria, among others in key roles. Film Complete, But Release Strategy Reworked In a heartfelt note shared by the team, it was revealed that Toxic is already complete. However, the decision to delay the release stems from a larger vision - ensuring the film reaches its full potential on a global scale. The statement highlights that after presenting the film at CinemaCon and witnessing an overwhelming international response, the team felt confident that the film deserved a wider and more impactful worldwide rollout. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Focus on Global Distribution & Partnerships The makers are currently working on aligning international distribution and strategic partnerships, which requires additional time. Instead of rushing the release, the team has chosen to recalibrate the timeline to ensure a synchronised global launch. This approach signals a growing trend in Indian cinema - films being positioned not just for domestic success but as global cinematic events. Yash, who is also involved as a producer, emphasised the importance of patience and responsibility during this phase. In the note, he expressed his commitment to delivering a film that stands as a proud moment for Indian cinema on the world stage. He acknowledged the unwavering support of fans and assured them that the delay is aimed at enhancing the overall impact of the film. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Not a Setback, But a Strategic Move This isn't the first time Toxic has been delayed. The movie was earlier scheduled for March 19 but was pushed to June due to external factors, like global uncertainties, that affected its schedule. However, the current postponement is purely strategic, with the goal of maximising reach, scale, and audience experience. While a new release date is yet to be announced, the makers have confirmed that Toxic will hit theatres soon across the world. Given the scale and ambition behind the project, expectations are now even higher for what could be one of the biggest Indian releases on the global stage. All Is Not Well Between Rishab Shetty and The Kantara Chapter 1 Team?

BY SACNILK

Bengaluru, March 28 - All is not seem to be well between the Kantara: Chapter 1 team and actor Rishab Shetty, whose recent Instagram activities have ignited a wave of speculations among fans. Released last year, the film was a huge hit, grossing over 800 crores worldwide, and became one of the highest-grossing films of 2025. Over the last few weeks, there have been rumours that things are not good between the makers. According to reports, Rishab Shetty recently unfollowed the Kantara production house, Hombale Films, on Instagram, even though he continues to follow the studio head, Vijay Kiragandur. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Now, the actor has also allegedly unfollowed Kantara: Chapter 1 actress Rukmini Vasanth on the platform. While there is no official confirmation out yet, the recent social media activities hint that all is now well between them. However, it is worth mentioning that there are no such reports of misconduct on the film's set and outside it. About Kantara: Chapter 1 Film Directed and headlined by Rishab Shetty, Kantara Chapter 1 is the prequel to the 2022 film Kantara. The story delves deeper into the origins of the tradition and ancestral conflict introduced in the first film. Despite the release of the predecessor, this film is considered to be the first chapter of the franchise. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The film stars Rishab Shetty in four roles as Berme, Mayakara, Annappa and Kaadubettu Shiva, along with Jayaram, Rukmini Vasanth, and Gulshan Devaiah. It is the second-highest-grossing Kannada movie of all-time, with the worldwide gross collection of 852 crores, which is more than 2x of the first film, which itself is a massive blockbuster. Dhurandhar, Pushpa, KGF, Baahubali: Comparing How Part 2 of The Biggest Indian Blockbusters Fares Against Part 1

BY SACNILK

Mumbai, March 23 - If day 3 was a tsunami, Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge brought mayhem on day 4 with another record-breaking collection. The spy action thriller hit the ball out of the park to deliver back-to-back 100 crore net in Hindi. It was like, the first time was nice, so I had to do it twice, kind of thing, as the movie is now in the league of its own. In comparison to the biggest grossers after 4 days, Dhurandhar 2 is the second, only to Pushpa 2, which benefited from the massive Pan India release. However, in the long run, Aditya Dhar's directed film is expected to beat Pushpa 2 and become the number 1 film at the Indian box office. Baahubali, KGF, Pushpa, Dhurandhar - Part 1 vs Part 2 India Gross Comparison (1st 4 Days) Movie Part 1 Part 2 Baahubali - ₹ 485.00 Cr KGF ₹ 83.40 Cr ₹ 462.50 Cr Pushpa ₹ 147.70 Cr ₹ 632.42 Cr Dhurandhar ₹ 151.50 Cr ₹ 541.97 Cr __________________________________________________________________________ Mumbai, March 22 - After the big first two days, the third day of each movie (in this article) has been huge, but Dhurandhar 2 took things to another level without as much support as the other three films got from their non-original films. The Aditya Dhar-directed spy actioner had a monumental day 3 at the Indian box office, which saw the Hindi version topping 100+ crore net for the first time. It is now only behind Pushpa 2, which had a wider pan-India release, after the first three days at the domestic box office. Baahubali, KGF, Pushpa, Dhurandhar - Part 1 vs Part 2 India Gross Comparison (1st 3 Days) Movie Part 1 Part 2 Baahubali - ₹ 382.00 Cr KGF ₹ 69.80 Cr ₹ 355.50 Cr Pushpa ₹ 128.05 Cr ₹ 463.90 Cr Dhurandhar ₹ 123.60 Cr ₹ 400.35 Cr __________________________________________________________________________ Mumbai, March 21 - The trend of sequels, or say Part 2, outperforming their predecessors has become a defining pattern in Indian cinema, especially when it comes to large-scale franchise films which resonated beyond regional boundaries. From Baahubali: The Beginning to Dhurandhar 2, filmmakers have successfully expanded their cinematic universes, often turning second instalments into historic box office juggernauts. Here's a look at how Part 2 of some of the biggest Indian blockbusters - Dhurandhar, Pushpa, KGF, and Baahubali - compare with their first parts. Baahubali: The Franchise That Started It All Baahubali: The Beginning was a massive success, but it was Baahubali 2: The Conclusion that rewrote Indian box office history. At a time when ticket prices were comparatively lower than today, Baahubali 2 was a phenomenon beyond boundaries. While it is difficult for most of the movies to generate 10 million admissions in their lifetime runs, Baahubali 2 scored 1+ crore admissions in India on day 1 alone, which still seems out of the world in a country where theatre screens are still insufficient when compared to the large cinema-going audience. While the first film laid the foundation with its grand storytelling and visual spectacle, the sequel capitalised on the iconic question, "Why did Kattappa kill Baahubali?" The result was unprecedented hype, leading to a record-breaking theatrical run that far surpassed the original in every market. It remains the biggest Indian blockbuster of the 21st century with over 100 million tickets sold here. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Baahubali Films India Gross (Lifetime) S. However, KGF: Chapter 2 arrived with massive anticipation and delivered a box office explosion. The sequel not only opened bigger but also sustained exceptionally well, becoming one of the highest-grossing Indian films and the highest-grossing Kannada movie ever, dwarfing the lifetime collections of Part 1 by a 5x margin. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) KGF Chapter 1 vs KGF Chapter 2 India Gross Comparison Day KGF: Chapter 1 (2018) KGF: Chapter 2 (2022) Day 1 ₹ 21.80 Crore ₹ 134.50 Crore Day 2 ₹ 23.20 Crore ₹ 105.50 Crore Day 3 ₹ 24.80 Crore ₹ 95.50 Crore Day 4 ₹ 13.60 Crore ₹ 107.00 Crore Lifetime ₹ 227.15 Crore ₹ 1000.85 Crore Pushpa: Rise vs Rule Pushpa: The Rise started as a strong performer, especially in Telugu markets. However, it was the Hindi market where the movie turned into an unexpected big hit and laid the foundation for its successor to rule the most important territory in India. Building on that popularity, Pushpa 2: The Rule took things to another level. With heightened scale, stronger promotions, and pan-India appeal, the sequel shattered opening day and weekend records, easily outpacing the first part and establishing itself as a global blockbuster. Pushpa The Rise vs Pushpa The Rule India Gross Comparison Day Pushpa: The Rise (2021) Pushpa: The Rule (2024) Day 1 ₹ 52.80 Crore ₹ 209.20 Crore (inc. pre.) With massive pre-sales, record-breaking ticket demand, and a historic opening, the second instalment has already outperformed Part 1 in terms of initial numbers. Despite some setbacks like show cancellations in dubbed versions, the film has demonstrated the sheer power of franchise hype in today's market. Unlike the other three films (in this article), Dhurandhar Part 1 itself was a monstrous hit with over 1000 crore gross at the Indian box office. It is the only original film to reach this figure at the domestic box office. Part 2, which is the continuation of the first film, has started on an unpremeditated note and is expected to outgross the first film very soon. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Dhurandhar vs Dhurandhar The Revenge India Gross Comparison Day Dhurandhar (2025) Dhurandhar: The Revenge (2026) Day 1 ₹ 33.60 Crore ₹ 172.60 Crore (inc. pre.) Day 2 ₹ 38.40 Crore ₹ 96.75 Crore Day 3 ₹ 51.60 Crore ₹ 135.15 Crore Day 4 ₹ 27.90 Crore ₹ 136.75 Crore Lifetime ₹ 1007.85 Crore ₹ - What connects all these films is a common trajectory - Part 1 builds the world and audience base, while Part 2 reaps the benefits of anticipation and scale. Sequels often come with bigger budgets, improved storytelling, and a deeper emotional payoff, making them more appealing to a wider audience. From Baahubali 2: The Conclusion setting the benchmark to Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge carrying the momentum forward, Indian cinema has mastered the art of the sequel. In most of the cases, Part 2 doesn't just match expectations, it surpasses them, proving that when done right, franchises only grow stronger with time. Stay tuned...

Bengaluru, March 19 - Nora Fatehi has finally addressed the massive backlash surrounding the controversial track "Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke", which sparked outrage over its allegedly vulgar lyrics and visuals. The song, featuring Nora alongside Sanjay Dutt from the film KD: The Devil, quickly became the centre of heated debates across social media and industry circles. The controversy escalated after several viewers and public figures criticised the song for being "cheap" and "vulgar", with complaints reportedly reaching authorities. The actress revealed that the song was shot nearly three years ago and claimed that she did not approve the version released. She further stated that she had no involvement in the controversial Hindi version that triggered the outrage. Yash's Toxic Postponed to June 4: Analyzing the Significance of the Middle East Market for the Actioner

BY SACNILK

The makers of Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups have officially moved the film's release from March 19 to June 4, 2026. The decision to vacate the lucrative Eid weekend window is primarily driven by the ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East—a territory that has evolved into a cornerstone for the commercial success of Pan-India superstars, particularly Yash. The postponement highlights the immense weight the Gulf region carries for high-budget South Indian productions. With an Indian diaspora of approximately 10 million residing in the Gulf nations, the territory is no longer just an additional market but a primary revenue generator. For Yash, the stakes are exceptionally high; his previous blockbuster, KGF: Chapter 2, delivered extraordinary numbers in the Middle East, setting a benchmark that the makers of Toxic are determined to protect. Trade analysts suggest that the decision was based on direct feedback from international distributors. In the current climate of conflict, movie-going is often de-prioritized, and even upon the cessation of hostilities, theatrical footfalls typically require weeks to stabilize. For a film of Toxic's scale, which relies heavily on premium formats like Dolby Cinema, releasing during a period of instability would mean risking a significant percentage of its overseas recovery. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({})   Industry experts point out that while Bollywood-centric films like Dhurandhar 2 might proceed with their March schedules due to different market dependencies, South Indian biggies are more vulnerable to Gulf disruptions. This postponement is expected to create a domino effect in the industry. The move to June 4 presents a logistical challenge for the production house, KVN Productions. Postponing a global release involving simultaneous prints in Kannada, English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam involves massive coordination. Furthermore, exhibitors are likely to feel the immediate impact, losing out on the high-occupancy Eid weekend and the high-margin revenues associated with premium large-format screenings. Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic is being positioned as a global product, shot simultaneously in Kannada and English. By shifting to June, the makers are banking on a more stable international environment to ensure that the massive KGF fanbase in the Middle East can contribute to what is expected to be a record-breaking opening.

Toxic movie Confirms June 4, 2026 Release: Will KVN Productions Risk an Internal Clash with Thalapathy Vijay's Jananayagan?

BY SACNILK

KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations have officially announced June 4, 2026, as the new global release date for the Yash-starrer Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups. The film, directed by Geetu Mohandas, will release in English and multiple Indian languages, shifting from its previously expected March window. According to the official statement from the producers, the decision to reschedule was driven by current uncertainty, especially in the Middle East. The makers noted that the situation impacted their goal to connect with the widest possible global audience, leading to a carefully considered decision to move the release to mid-2026. The release of Jananayagan is unlikely to occur before the conclusion of the Tamil Nadu state elections in April and the subsequent result declarations in May. This timeline led to initial speculation that the film would target a June release to coincide with Thalapathy Vijay's birthday on June 22. Specifically, June 26 was identified as a potential date, as it falls on the Friday immediately following his birthday. However, with Toxic now officially confirmed for June 4, the focus has shifted toward a potential July window. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({})   This marks an unprecedented year for KVN Productions, with both Toxic and Jananayagan carrying estimated budgets exceeding ₹500 crore each. Releasing these high-stakes projects in close proximity presents a major logistical challenge. In markets like Karnataka, where both Yash and Vijay command massive fanbases, the production house risks competing against itself for limited IMAX and Premium Large Format (PLF) screens. A potential July move for Jananayagan would also place the film in close proximity to Jailer 2, which is planning for an August 14 release to capitalize on the Independence Day holiday weekend. Given that Jananayagan carries immense political weight in the South, the studio must balance its distribution strategy to avoid cannibalizing its own box-office returns. Ensuring that Toxic's global action rollout does not overlap with the peak demand for Vijay's farewell remains the primary hurdle for the studio's 2026 roadmap. Whether the production house will maintain a tight gap between these two releases or find a more spacious window for Thalapathy Vijay's farewell remains to be seen. For now, the industry will have to wait and watch for the official announcement regarding the Jananayagan release schedule.

Double Setback For KVN Productions: Jana Nayagan Uncertainty And Toxic Delay

BY SACNILK

Bengaluru, March 4 - Producer Venkat K. Narayana's KVN Productions is currently going through one of its most challenging phases, with two of its marquee projects of the year facing unexpected setbacks. The production house had pinned high hopes on Jana Nayagan and Toxic, two big-ticket films meant to anchor its 2026 theatrical slate, but developments over the past few weeks have pushed the studio into a state of uncertainty. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The Vijay-starrer Jana Nayagan, which was supposed to release on January 9, has been caught in prolonged limbo due to certification and release-related hurdles. The lack of clarity over its final clearance and release timeline has not only delayed promotional plans but has also left exhibitors and distributors in a wait-and-watch mode. For KVN Productions, the film was expected to be a landmark release, making the continued uncertainty a significant cause of concern. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Adding to the pressure is the postponement of Yash-fronted Toxic, which is produced by KVN Productions in association with Monster Mind Creations, the banner owned by Yash. Touted as a major pan-Indian spectacle, Toxic was seen as a crucial project that would further strengthen KVN's footprint across markets. However, the decision to push the film's release amid prevailing geopolitical issues has disrupted the studio's carefully planned release calendar. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) With both Jana Nayagan and Toxic being positioned as defining releases for the banner, the double setback has placed KVN Productions in a major dilemma. Scheduling reshuffles, financial recalibrations, and renewed negotiations with distribution partners are now inevitable, at a time when expectations from the industry were at their peak. Despite the turbulence, trade circles believe that KVN Productions still holds a strong slate with Akshay Kumar's Haiwaan and Kannada film KD. However, how swiftly the studio resolves the Jana Nayagan impasse and stabilises the release strategy for Toxic will be critical in determining whether this challenging phase turns into a temporary slowdown or a long-term setback.
